Chicago Sky star Angel Reese hinted at a possible second career after starring in a new ad for Cash App.

The 2024 All-Star joked she's "just teasing my acting bag" after the ad was released Tuesday:

Reese and Cash App announced their collaboration in October. As part of the deal, the company became the sponsor for her Unapologetically Angel podcast and helped to renovate a public basketball court in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Becoming a spokesperson for Cash App allowed Reese to show off her acting chops as well.

"I loved being part of this campaign because it was an opportunity to show people the importance of investing in themselves and feeling in control of their money," she said. "I'm proud to partner with Cash App and am grateful for their continued support of my efforts to make an impact both on and off the court."

Reese entered the WNBA with massive expectations following her decorated college career and managed to exceed them. She averaged 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds, setting a league record with 15 straight double-doubles at one point.

While the 2025 season won't tip off until next spring, fans will get to see the 6'3" forward well before that in the inaugural season for Unrivaled. The 3x3 league tips off in January, with Reese picked as one of six players on Rose Basketball Club.

Rose BC's first game is Jan. 17 against Vinyl Basketball Club.

Former Las Vegas Aces assistant coach Tyler Marsh has signed a multiyear contract to become the next head coach of the Chicago Sky, his agent told ESPN's Bobby Marks.

Marsh served on the Aces staff during the team's run to the 2022 and 2023 WNBA titles.

Marsh will replace former head coach Teresa Weatherspoon, who was fired in September after one season. Following the loss of star rookie Angel Reese to a season-ending injury, the Sky went 13-27 and missed the playoffs under Weatherspoon's tenure.

The record marked a step back for the Sky, who were hoping to improve after adding Reese and No. 3 pick Kamilla Cardoso in the 2024 WNBA draft.

Reese reacted to Weatherspoon's dismissal with a Sept. 26 post on X, in which she said she was "heartbroken" and that the former head coach "didn't deserve" to be fired.

The former No. 7 pick then told Annie Costabile of the Chicago Sun-Times that she "can't imagine playing for the Sky without [Weatherspoon.]"

Reese seemed to have a positive reaction to the hiring of Marsh, as she posted again on X soon after the news broke on Saturday:

Sky general manager Jeff Pagliocca told Julia Poe of the Chicago Tribune in October that the Sky's relationship with Reese "is in a good spot."

"Emotions were high for a couple days and we can respect that. We can appreciate it," Pagliocca said. "We understand that there's bonds that are built with coaches and players, especially the young ones."

Pagliocca told Poe that part of the reason the Sky fired Weatherspoon, who had not previously served as a WNBA assistant or head coach before accepting her role in Chicago, was because the franchise had heard rumors that veteran free agents would hesitate to sign with the Sky due to her inexperience.

The Sky will look to change that by adding Marsh, who was hired by the Aces in 2022 and worked with the team as the franchise put up a 77-29 record and 19-6 postseason mark in three seasons.

The Aces have credited Marsh with helping Jackie Young improve her shooting accuracy on her way to winning the 2022 WNBA Most Improved Player award. Young has now averaged at least 15 points and earned All-Star nominations in each of the last three seasons.

The Sky will hope Marsh can help similarly develop young players like Reese, Cardoso and 2024 Most Improved Player candidate Chennedy Carter as Chicago looks to climb back into the playoff picture in 2025.

WNBA's Angel Reese Jokes She Can 'Afford' Bills After Reebok Contract Extension

Nobody has to worry about whether Angel Reese can afford rent.

The Chicago Sky star agreed to a multiyear endorsement contract extension with Reebok and will release a signature shoe through the company, ESPN's Shams Charania reported Thursday. Reese initially signed an endorsement deal with Reebok when she was at LSU in 2023.

She joked on social media that she can afford her bills as a result:

The joke comes after she turned heads earlier this month when she said her WNBA salary doesn't cover her $8,000 rent:

https://twitter.com/TheDunkCentral/status/1846619160249274838

Reese made $73,439 in her first season as the No. 7 overall pick of the 2024 WNBA draft, although she was a household name before she even entered the league. She became a star and national champion at LSU and counts Reese's and Beats by Dre among her other partnerships.

Now one of her partnerships will mean a signature shoe.

"I'm extremely excited to let you guys know that we are officially coming out with a Reebok by Angel signature shoe," Reese said in a statement, per Ben Pickman of The Athletic. "We've already kicked off the design process, and it means the world to me to have Reebok's full support and confidence with this shoe and overall partnership."

This comes after the LSU product was largely excellent in her rookie season.

Reese was named to the All-Star Game and 2024 All-Rookie team while averaging 13.6 points, 13.1 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game as a double-double machine.

Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese agreed to an endorsement contract extension with Reebok on Thursday, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.

Per Charania, Reese's extension also includes a signature shoe that is set to release in 2026. She originally signed an endorsement deal with Reebok in Oct. 2023 during her college days at LSU.

Reese wrapped up a stellar inaugural season with the Sky in 2024, receiving a Rookie of the Year vote.

She averaged 13.6 points to go along with a league-leading 13.1 rebounds per game, shooting 39.1 percent from the field and 73.6 percent on free throws. The 22-year-old was named an All-Star and set a new league record with 15 straight double-doubles in the middle of the season.

Reese now becomes one of six active WNBA players with a signature shoe deal, via Charania. She joins A'ja Wilson, Breanna Stewart, Caitlin Clark, Sabrina Ionescu and Sydney Colson.

Jide Osifeso, Reebok's head of basketball, also expressed excitement regarding the new extension.

"Reebok and Angel are growing together every day and our visions for the future are aligned," Osifeso said, per Charania. "We're excited to continue the relationship with a ground-up build of her signature silhouette."

Reese briefly set a new WNBA single-season rebounding record as a rookie, although it was later broken by Wilson after the Sky forward suffered a season-ending wrist injury that required surgery.

As Reese looks to recover and build upon her promising rookie year, she'll also be looking forward to the release of her first signature shoe in 2026.

Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese made an addition to her stable of endorsements, striking a deal with Cash App.

Cash App will sponsor Reese's Unapologetically Angel podcast and partner with her charitable foundation to renovate a public basketball court in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

"I'm proud to collaborate with a brand like Cash App that shares my vision in creating a lasting impact on and off the court and providing opportunities for fans to authentically disrupt the sport and grow the game for future generations," she said Monday.

"I founded the Angel C. Reese Foundation to give back and I'm thrilled we'll also be able to collaborate with Cash App to renovate a basketball court in Louisiana where I have so many incredible memories and a special connection with the wider community."

Reese became one of the biggest stars in college basketball during her two-year run at LSU, and her popularity has followed her to the WNBA.

The 6'3" forward provided some insight into the scale of her off-court earnings when she divulged her salary from the WNBA isn't enough to account for her rent. She made $73,439 in her first season while paying $8,000 monthly for her living accommodations.

https://twitter.com/TheDunkCentral/status/1846619160249274838

Before suffering a season-ending wrist injury, Reese averaged 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds across 34 appearances. She finished runner-up in the Rookie of the Year voting behind the Indiana Fever's Caitlin Clark.

A major windfall is coming to all WNBA players once they sign a new collective bargaining agreement that accounts for the league's increased media rights deal. For Reese, what she makes from basketball will probably still fail to keep pace with her sizable endorsement portfolio.

Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese attended Game 5 of the WNBA Finals on Sunday, where the Minnesota Lynx faced off against the New York Liberty in Brooklyn.

The 22-year-old showed up in style, repping a half-and-half jersey combination of the Liberty's Breanna Stewart and Lynx's Napheesa Collier.

The one-of-a-kind jersey comes after Reese posted on social media on Friday, asking for her dream jersey to become a reality before Sunday's game.

Reese and the Sky finished their season 13-27, failing to make a postseason appearance after finishing 10th in the league.

The Lynx and Liberty entered Sunday's Game 5 tied at two games apiece. The winner of tonight's game will be crowned the 2024 WNBA Champions.

Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese pulled back the curtain on the financial realities of playing in the WNBA when she revealed her salary doesn't cover her $8,000 rent.

Reese crunched the numbers in real time during an Instagram Live video and joked she's "living beyond my means."

https://twitter.com/TheDunkCentral/status/1846619160249274838

The 2024 first-round pick made $73,439 in her first season, a figure that was locked in when she was selected seventh overall by the Sky.

Going a little early in the draft wouldn't have made much of a difference. The salaries for the players picked first though fourth was $76,535, as outlined by the collective bargaining agreement.

Reese obviously supplements her WNBA contract with endorsement money. She became a major star at LSU, and the commercial portfolio she built in Baton Rouge went with her to Chicago. Reese's, Reebok and Beats by Dre are among the companies she has signed deals with.

Off-court earnings will continue to be 6'3" forward's primary source of income for at least the next few years. Her rookie deal maxes out at $93,636 in 2027 before she's eligible for restricted free agency.

By that point, the WNBA will have a new CBA that reflects the sizable media rights deal the league signed in July, one that promises to significantly boost player salaries. That day can't come soon enough for Reese and her peers.

Chicago Sky star rookie Angel Reese was in the house for the Baltimore Ravens' Sunday Night Football matchup with the Buffalo Bills.

Reese, who wrapped up her historic rookie year earlier in September, was in front of a home crowd as she's a Baltimore native.

Along with Reese, WWE's Seth Rollins was in the house for the primetime matchup.

Reese averaged 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds per game during her rookie year, falling just short of leading the Sky to the playoffs as she had to miss the final weeks of the season due to a wrist injury.

The LSU product broke a number of records in her first season. She had the most consecutive double-doubles by a WNBA player (15), the most double-doubles by a rookie (26), the most rebounds in a single season by a WNBA player (446) and the most offensive rebounds in a single season (172).

In just about any other season, she likely would have been the league's Rookie of the Year, but she had to compete with Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark's historic season.

After the big season, Reese is now enjoying her first offseason by watching her hometown Ravens as they look to get a big win over the Bills.

Angel Reese 'Heartbroken' About Rumored Firing of Sky HC Teresa Weatherspoon

Chicago Sky star Angel Reese is "heartbroken" after her team reportedly fired head coach Teresa Weatherspoon on Thursday.

Annie Costabile of the Chicago Sun-Times reported the Sky fired Weatherspoon after just one season, and Reese responded with a heartfelt message that said, in part, that the coach "was the only person that believed in me" and "the one that trusted me."

She also said her relationship with Weatherspoon "will last forever."

This was a rather shocking development, as Chicago was clearly in rebuilding mode at the start of the season.

The star-studded rosters that won a championship in 2021 and went 26-10 in 2022 with Candace Parker, Kahleah Copper, Courtney Vandersloot, Allie Quigley and others is no longer in the Windy City, and last season's 18-22 mark was the start of what figured to be a longer process.

It was even clearer the Sky would be in a rebuild when they traded Copper to the Phoenix Mercury ahead of the 2024 campaign.

Part of that rebuild included adding high-profile rookies, and that is exactly what the team did by selecting South Carolina's Kamilla Cardoso at No. 3 overall and LSU's Reese at No. 7 overall in the 2024 WNBA draft. As is often the case with rookies, there were growing pains as the team learned under Weatherspoon.

Yet Chicago was a playoff threat until it once again moved a veteran in Marina Mabrey with a midseason trade to the Connecticut Sun.

It went 2-12 in the final 14 games as injuries also played a factor. Reese herself missed the final six games of the season with a wrist injury that required surgery.

The Sky finished 13-27 and two games behind the eighth-seeded Atlanta Dream for the final playoff spot. There were some signs of progress, and the team will likely take another step in the future as Reese and Cardoso become more experienced.

But it was unrealistic to expect Weatherspoon to win at a high level in her first season as a head coach given the realities of the rebuild and some of the overall roster construction. Chicago is building toward the future, but there will be less continuity moving into that future now that it will be searching for a new head coach for the 2025 campaign.

And the face of the franchise wasn't happy with the move.

The Chicago Sky have fired head coach Teresa Weatherspoon after she spent just one season at the helm, per the Chicago Sun-Times' Annie Costabile.

The Sky finished 13-27 and missed the postseason for the first time since 2018.

According to Costabile, players were "outwardly supportive" of the first-year head coach throughout the season, but exit interviews revealed a "disconnect."

"Multiple players noted the changing play style throughout the year and mentioned the learning curve of being a first-year coach," she wrote.

The Sky were in a playoff position for much of the season and had a chance to clinch a postseason berth late in the year, but Chicago lost 12 of its last 14 games to seal its fate.

While players noted the disconnect between Weatherspoon and her roster, the Sky also dealt with circumstances out of their control, namely the many different injuries throughout the season.

Chicago played only two games with a fully healthy roster, and star rookie Angel Reese sustained a season-ending injury in early September.

The 22-year-old spoke out on social media following Weatherspoon's firing.

"You had a tough job. All the crazy circumstances that we went through this year and when your back was against the wall, you always believed," Reese wrote on X. "I came to Chicago because of YOU. You were an unsung hero in my life."

It was just three seasons ago the Sky won their first WNBA championship, but they have since faced a number of setbacks. James Wade, who led Chicago to a title as the team's coach and general manager, departed midway through the 2023 season and the Sky faced a first-round exit in the playoffs.

The Sky had an unsuccessful offseason in the free-agency market, ultimately leading to star guard Kahleah Copper requesting a trade before the start of the regular season.

Though things seem bleak for Chicago at the moment, it has a young roster that seems to be on its way to a bright future.

In the backcourt, 25-year-old Chennedy Carter led the way for the Sky behind 17.5 points per game. Reese, whose play in 2024 likely would have led to a Rookie of the Year award had it not been for Caitlin Clark, pairs well with fellow rookie Kamilla Cardoso in the front court.

Chicago will now begin another coaching search as it looks to find the right person to guide a talented young group in a new era of Sky basketball.
