Chicago Sky rookie sensation Angel Reese is joining the ranks of athletes who also host their own podcast.

Reese's new show Unapologetically Angel was announced on Tuesday, with new episodes dropping every Thursday starting with the debut on Sept. 5.

Reese joins a group that includes LeBron James, Micah Parsons, Mookie Betts, Travis Kelce and Draymond Green as active athletes who host their own podcast.

The move into media comes as Reese has established herself as one of the biggest stars in women's basketball dating back to her college days at Maryland and LSU.

Reese earned All-Big Ten first-team honors as a sophomore in 2021-22. She transferred to LSU as a junior and became a superstar. Her first season with the Tigers resulted in a national championship, highlighted by a 102-85 win over Caitlin Clark and Iowa in the title game.

The Bayou Barbie was named Most Outstanding Player of the 2023 NCAA tournament. She averaged 21.3 points, 15.2 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game in six starts during the tournament.

Reese was selected with the No. 7 overall pick by the Chicago Sky in the 2024 WNBA draft. She has already had a historic rookie campaign, setting a new league record with 15 consecutive double-doubles earlier this season. She also became the fastest player to reach 20 double-doubles, accomplishing the feat in 27 games.

The Sky currently own the No. 8 seed in the playoff race. Reese leads the league with 12.9 rebounds per game and is one of only three players averaging a double-double, along with A'ja Wilson and Napheesa Collier.

Chicago Sky star rookie forward Angel Reese delivered a fantastic second-half performance en route to matching her career-high with 20 rebounds. However, the Connecticut Sun won a back-and-forth game, edging the Sky 82-80.

Five days earlier, Reese grabbed 20 boards (alongside 19 points) against the Phoenix Mercury. With her Friday performance, Reese made WNBA history.

Reese went scoreless in the first half but finished with 13 points. She helped the Sky overcome a 10-point halftime deficit, and the team even led by as many as six points in the final quarter.

Reese got going on both ends, getting a block early on in the third quarter and doing work on the boards amid a 15-5 run.

Reese stayed active on the glass, following up her miss here to cut the Sun lead to one.

Sky fans approved of her efforts.

The Sky led 80-77 after Reese's two free throws with 1:52 left, but the Sun hit five free throws down the stretch for the win. Alyssa Thomas' pair with four seconds left put the Sun in the lead for good.

It was a tough loss for the Sky, but it was hard to not be impressed by Reese's great second half and her continued excellence on the glass.

The Sky will now face the Las Vegas Aces at home on Sunday at 12 p.m. ET.

Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese is releasing a "Reese's Pieces" apparel collection after signing an endorsement deal with The Hershey Company, Nick DePaula reported Wednesday for Boardroom.

The collection available on Reese's official website features shirts, sweatshirts and hats featuring the phrase "Reese's Angel."

A future merchandise drop will add a jersey to the collection, per DePaula.

Reese has signed endorsement deals with "nearly two dozen companies" since beginning her career at LSU, according to DePaula.

Reese's connection with The Hershey Company began when the star WNBA rookie began referring to her fans as "Reese's pieces" on X, leading to a public interaction with the candy brand.

Following that X interaction, Reese warmed up in a pair of custom Reese's-themed sneakers designed by artist Marvin Baroota.

Now that connection between Reese and Reese's is official, and the Sky rookie can continue building on an already-stacked endorsement portfolio that helped her earn a $1.8 million NIL valuation (per On3) at LSU.

Prior to her agreement with Hershey, Reese's most notable sponsorship since entering the WNBA as the No. 7 pick of the 2024 draft was her footwear and apparel collection with Reebok.

The "Reebok by Angel" collection made Reese the first rookie from the draft class to announce a product launch in partnership with an athletic brand, DePaula reported earlier this month.

That isn't the only branding Reese has recently been involved in. The Sky on Wednesday also announced that the team will be partnering with Mattel for a Barbie theme night on Aug. 30 in an apparent nod to Reese's nickname.

Reese is averaging 13.6 points and 12.3 rebounds through 27 starts to help the Sky remain in playoff contention. In July she set an WNBA record with double-doubles in 15 consecutive games, and earlier this week she became the fastest player in league history to achieve the feat 20 times.

Now, as Reese approaches the single-season rookie record of 22 double-doubles set by Tina Charles in 2010, and it looks like she, the Sky and Hershey's are ready to capitalize on her growing popularity.

Angel Reese Hyped as 'Double-Double Machine' By WNBA Fans Despite Sky Loss to Mercury

Another game, another double-double for Angel Reese.

It took less than three quarters for the Chicago Sky rookie forward to do what she does best, and she finished with 19 points and 20 rebounds as the team suffered an 86-68 loss to the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday night. It's Reese's third straight double-double following the Olympic break and her first career 20-rebound game.

Reese struggled to find her touch at the start of the game, but she was able to increase her efficiency in the second half. She shot 8-of-16 from the field, her first time shooting 50 percent or better since July 7 against the Seattle Storm. She finished the game with a plus-minus of -20.

Fans on social media praised Reese for conducting business as usual by recording another double-double in Sunday's contest:

https://twitter.com/rihnaisssance/status/1825357719689392485

Reese has proven to be a consistent source of points and rebounds, but she still has some areas to improve. Her efficiency needs to be better for the amount of volume she gets on offense.

Still, Reese gives the Sky a foundational piece to build around as the team continues to chase its first WNBA title since 2021.

Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese has done it again.

Reese recorded her 19th double-double of the season on Saturday with 14 points and 11 rebounds in the Sky's 90-86 win over the Los Angeles Sparks.

Reese wasn't the only Sky rookie who shone in the team's first game back from the WNBA's break for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Kamilla Cardoso recorded 15 points and 14 rebounds in the Sky's win, marking the WNBA-leading fourth time this season the duo have recorded matching double-doubles in the same night.

Reese's 19th double-double of the season comes after the rookie set a WNBA record in July by achieving the feat in 15 straight games.

Reese is now nine double-doubles shy of the WNBA single-season record of 28 set by Connecticut Sun forward Alyssa Thomas in 2023.

Reese went 4-of-13 from the floor and 6-of-8 from the foul line in the victory, but she stood out most for her defensive efforts.

The rookie pulled down 10 defensive rebounds on her way to the double double, and was also effective as a matchup with three-time All-Star Dearica Hamby.

Reese added one assist and a block while helping the Sky to victory.

She, Kardoso and the Sky return to action on Sunday night with another road game against the Phoenix Mercury.

Angel Reese, Sky Criticized by Fans After Being Dominated by Brittney Griner, Mercury

The Chicago Sky and star rookie Angel Reese rolled into the Olympic/All-Star break off the momentum of a fantastic 93-85 road win over the defending champion Las Vegas Aces. But the second half of the season began with a thud as the Phoenix Mercury crushed the host Sky 85-65.

Reese scored 11 points and grabbed 15 rebounds but shot just 4-of-14 from the field and made 3-of-8 free throws. All but one of her field goal misses were from inside the paint.

Chicago as a whole struggled, shooting 37.0 percent from the field and 4-of-19 from three-point range.

Meanwhile, Phoenix roared to a 30-12 lead after the first quarter and a 50-28 halftime edge. Kahleah Copper led the Mercury with 29 points, and Brittney Griner scored 23 points on 10-of-12 shooting with nine rebounds, six assists and five blocks.

One game isn't symbolic of a whole season, of course. The Sky are still comfortably in the playoff picture at 10-15, good enough for eighth place and two-and-a-half games ahead of the ninth-place Atlanta Dream. And Reese continues to be a double-double machine, amassing one in 18 of her last 19 games.

Thursday featured a tough loss, though, with Griner dominating the matchup down low and Reese and the Sky not having an answer for her, Copper or the rest of Phoenix.

Chicago will now go on a three-game road trip that begins Saturday at the Los Angeles Sparks.

Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson is one of the cover stars for NBA 2K25, so more previews can be expected in the coming weeks.

Clark and Reese are in the midst of stellar rookie seasons with the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky, respectively. The Rookie of the Year Award will likely be decided by which one of them has the better close to the season when the WNBA resumes play on Thursday after its break for the Paris Olympics.

Fans of the WNBA will have six more opportunities to catch the action on their Meta Quest, including two with three with 180-degree VR.

Meta, which launched its partnership with the WNBA in May, announced its 20-game slate for the Quest in May. The next event is Saturday as Dearica Hamby and the Los Angeles Sparks host Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky.

WNBA Meta Quest Second-Half Schedule

  • Aug. 17: Chicago Sky at Los Angeles Sparks, 5 p.m. ET (immersive game)
  • Aug. 20: Los Angeles Sparks at Connecticut Sun, 7 p.m. ET
  • Aug. 21: Phoenix Mercury at Atlanta Dream, 7:30 p.m. ET
  • Aug. 28: Washington Mystics at Chicago Sky, 8 p.m. ET
  • Sept. 1: Las Vegas Aces at Phoenix Mercury, 4 p.m. ET (immersive game)
  • Sept. 15: Dallas Wings at Indiana Fever, 3 p.m. ET (immersive game)

With the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris now over, the WNBA is resuming its 2024 season this week.

Heading into the second half, the New York Liberty own the league's best record (21-4) and sit 2.5 games ahead of the second-place Connecticut Sun. The Liberty, who also have the highest net rating (11.8), are a strong bet to stay there as long as their key players stay healthy.

Plenty of drama remains regarding the rest of the playoff bracket.

Only 0.5 games separate the third-place Minnesota Lynx from the Seattle Storm in fifth, while the gap between sixth and eight place is only 2.5 games. Even the last-place Dallas Wings can't be totally overlooked because a hot stretch could help them close their 3.5-game difference on the Sky for the final postseason berth.

The regular season wraps up on Sept. 19 with the start of the playoffs to follow on Sept. 22.

Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese joined Megan Thee Stallion on stage Thursday at Lollapalooza in downtown Chicago.

Reese posted the video she took on stage on her Instagram story.

This is not the first time Reese has joined the Houston rapper during one of her concerts. The star WNBA rookie also joined her during a May concert in Chicago.

Next up will be Megan Thee Stallion attending a Sky game. Reese has previously said the rapper will be in the crowd at a future game at Wintrust Arena.

Reese initially said during the Chicago Sky's media day before the season that the two celebrities she would most like to meet are Megan Thee Stallion and Michael Jordan, per the Chicago Tribune's Julia Poe.

Already having won over Megan Thee Stallion, the star rookie will now see if she can draw Jordan back to Chicago.
