Alex Ovechkin's Custom Suit Honoring NHL All-Time Goals Record Revealed in Photo

Alex Ovechkin is celebrating passing Wayne Gretzky as the NHL's all-time goals leader with a new bespoke suit.
Designed by Tom Barnett New York, the suit features a lining commemorating each of the 895 pucks Ovechkin scored with and a collar stitched with "GR895."
Ovechkin scored the record-breaking 895th goal of his career last Sunday during the Washington Capitals' road game against the New York Islanders.
Barnett also designed a bespoke suit for Ovechkin when the Caps star scored career goal No. 802 to pass Gordie Howe as the NHL's second all-time leading scorer in March 2023.
The 802nd goal suit also featured a custom lining with images from Ovechkin's hockey career and personal life, including him winning the Stanley Cup in 2018 and embracing his family.
Ovechkin is set to play his first game as the league's all-time leading scorer on Thursday evening at home against the Carolina Hurricanes.
The Capitals are celebrating by distributing rally towels featuring Ovechkin's goal No. 895 celebration to fans in attendance at the game.
Ovechkin has five more games to further extend the all-time record before the Capitals' playoff push begins.
The Hurricanes' 3-0 loss to the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday allowed the Caps to clinch the Metropolitan Division for the first time since 2020, setting them on track to face either the first or second Eastern Conference wild card.
Winning tonight would allow the Capitals to clinch the top seed in the East and lock in the second wild card as an opponent. That is currently set to be the Montreal Canadiens, although a late regular-season push by the Habs could result in the Capitals taking on the Ottawa Senators.
Gretzky still holds onto the all-time NHL playoff scoring record with 122 goals in 208 postseason games.
Ovechkin is currently tied for 15th among all playoff scorers with 72 goals in 186 playoff games. He will look to climb that list once the postseason begins on April 19.
Updated 2025 NHL Playoff Picture, Bracket, Matchups After Devils Clinch Spot

Another team punched its ticket to the Stanley Cup Playoffs on Wednesday as the NHL regular seasons nears its end.
The New Jersey Devils were idle on Wednesday, but earned a playoff berth thanks to the Philadelphia Flyers win over the New York Rangers.
With one more team playoff bound, here's a look at the current playoff matchups.
Current Playoff Matchups
Eastern Conference
A1 Toronto Maple Leafs vs. WC1 Ottawa Senators
A2 Tampa Bay Lightning vs. A3 Florida Panthers
M1 Washington Capitals vs. WC2 Montreal Canadiens
M2 Carolina Hurricanes vs. M3 New Jersey Devils
Western Conference
C1 Winnipeg Jets vs. WC2 Minnesota Wild
C2 Dallas Stars vs. C3 Colorado Avalanche
P1 Vegas Golden Knights vs WC1 St. Louis Blues
P2 Los Angeles Kings vs. P3 Edmonton Oilers
Not only did the Devils clinch a playoff spot, but the first round meeting between them and the Carolina Hurricanes is now the first playoff matchup to be locked in.
The playoff berth for New Jersey is just its third in the last four seasons. The Devils missed the postseason last year after reaching the second round in 2023. They're hoping to make their first Stanley Cup Finals appearance since 2012 when they lost to the Los Angeles Kings.
While the Devils aren't heading into the postseason as a top contender, they've made plenty of strides since last season when they finished the year 38-39. The biggest addition this offseason was hiring new coach Sheldon Keefe.
New Jersey also loaded up with key pieces like goalie Jacob Markstrom, defensemen Brett Pesce, Brenden Dillon and Jonathan Kovacevic, and forwards Stefan Noesen and Paul Cotter.
Whether Keefe will be able to lead his squad to a deep playoff run in Year 1 remains to be seen, but he at least managed to get the Devils back to the postseason.
