Aaron Rodgers Odds: Steelers, Raiders Lead Betting Lines as QB's Next Landing Spot

Julia Stumbaugh
Feb 11, 2025
Miami Dolphins v New York Jets

The Pittsburgh Steelers and Las Vegas Raiders are currently viewed as the top landing spots for veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers, according to DraftKings.

Fox Sports' Jay Glazer reported Sunday that the New York Jets have informed Rodgers they are "moving on" from him next season.

That means Rodgers could be joining a new team if he returns for a 21st NFL season in 2025.

Here are the current lines for Rodgers' next team, per DraftKings.

Aaron Rodgers' 2025 NFL Team Odds

Pittsburgh Steelers +200

Las Vegas Raiders +300

San Francisco 49ers +350

Minnesota Vikings +400

Tennessee Titans +750

Indianapolis Colts +850

Los Angeles Rams +1000

New York Giants +1200

Cleveland Browns +1400

New York Jets +1800

Seattle Seahawks +2000

New Orleans Saints +4000

Miami Dolphins +7500

Jacksonville Jaguars +7500

The Steelers head into the offseason without a QB1 under contract as both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields hit free agency.

Steelers owner Art Rooney II said in January he wanted to sign one of those quarterbacks. If both signal-callers walk this spring, Rodgers could serve as a short-term solution under center while the Steelers search for their next starter.

Ad Placeholder

The Raiders currently have both Gardner Minshew II and Aidan O'Connell under contract for next season, but neither looked like the answer to the team's search for a franchise quarterback. Rodgers could play a similar bridge role in Las Vegas as that search continues.

The most surprising top option for Rodgers' next team may be the 49ers, where owner Jed York recently said the team wants Brock Purdy to remain in San Francisco "for a long time." Signing Rodgers would likely only make sense if the Niners believe they have no common ground in extension negotiations with Purdy.

Whether the Vikings find themselves as a landing spot for Rodgers could depend on what Sam Darnold does this offseason. Re-signing Darnold, with J.J. McCarthy waiting in the wings, means the Vikings wouldn't likely have room for Rodgers. But if Darnold walks, the Vikings could bring in Rodgers to help with McCarthy's adjustment to the NFL.

Ad Placeholder

Rodgers could play a similar mentorship role with the Titans, Browns or Giants, depending on which of those teams decide to target quarterbacks with the top three picks of the 2025 NFL draft.

The former Jets quarterback theoretically could compete for a starting job with the Colts amid Anthony Richardson's struggles, or with the Rams if the trade rumors surrounding Matthew Stafford come to fruition.

The Seahawks (Geno Smith), Saints (Derek Carr) and Dolphins (Tua Tagovailoa) all have starters under contract for next season, but they could decide to make a change under center this spring. The Jaguars, who signed Trevor Lawrence to a five-year deal last offseason, are a long shot.

How the free-agent and trade market play out will influence which teams are considering pursuing Rodgers if the Jets cut him and he decides to return for the 2025 season.

NFL Rumors: Brandon Staley A 'Serious Candidate' to Be Saints DC Under Kellen Moore

Julia Stumbaugh
Feb 11, 2025
Los Angeles Chargers v Las Vegas Raiders

Former Los Angeles Chargers head coach Brandon Staley is a "serious candidate" to become the New Orleans Saints' next defensive coordinator, according to Fox Sports' Jordan Schultz.

The Saints have already landed on former Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore as their next head coach, Schultz reported earlier Tuesday.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday that Staley "is a really strong, kind of a hot-shot defensive coordinator candidate" who will get a "long look" in New Orleans.

Moore previously worked with Staley when he served as the Chargers' offensive coordinator during the 2023 season.

The Chargers' offense ranked 18th in the NFL in yards and 21st in points that campaign, during which the team stumbled to a five-win finish that led to Staley's midseason dismissal.

The Saints could be hoping for better results if they pair Moore and Staley again, this time with Moore coming out of a Super Bowl-winning Eagles offense.

Staley has previous experience as an NFL defensive coordinator with the Los Angeles Rams in 2020, during which the team's defense ranked first in the NFL in both yards and points allowed.

He moved on after that to become the Chargers head coach, a job he left with a 24-24 record and no playoff wins.

Ad Placeholder

The 2024 season saw Staley serving as assistant coach for the San Francisco 49ers, who went 6-11 and fell well short of repeating last winter's trip to the Super Bowl.

Staley reportedly isn't the only candidate for the Saints DC spot. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler previously reported that Buccaneers outside linebackers coach George Edwards, who worked with Moore during his tenure with the Dallas Cowboys, is another candidate for the position.

Fowler added that Matt Eberflus had been a potential target for Moore prior to his hiring as the Cowboys' defensive coordinator.

The Saints are looking to replace Joe Woods, who spent two seasons as the team's defensive coordinator before joining Pete Carroll's staff with the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason.

Whoever takes the job in New Orleans will be tasked with overhauling one of the least effective defensive units in the NFL last season. The team's next DC can hope the Saints will use one of their eight draft picks to target defensive talent this April.

Following the Philadelphia Eagles' 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, running back Saquon Barkley celebrated by showcasing a brand-new custom chain featuring his jersey number, 26.

Benny the Jeweler posted the video on Instagram:

The newly 29-year-old, who celebrated his birthday on Sunday, has been wearing No. 26 since his rookie season with the New York Giants—now cementing it in history after donning it in a Super Bowl victory.

Barkley, who joined the Eagles in the offseason, played a pivotal role in their championship run, despite rushing for 57 yards with zero touchdowns.

He finished the regular season with the No. 1 most yards in the league with 2,005 in addition to 13 touchdowns on 345 carries.

In addition to his standout season, Barkley capped it off by surpassing Terrell Davis' all-time records for most rushing yards (2,504) and scrimmage yards (2,857) in a single regular and postseason.

Needing just 30 rushing yards to break the record, he successfully reached the mark in the first half.

"It's cool," Barkley said about breaking the record, per Pro Football Talks Myles Simmons. "To be honest, the most important thing was winning the Super Bowl, because if we didn't win the Super Bowl today, all those accolades and all those yards wouldn't mean anything. So, it's cool. I don't want to downplay it because I couldn't do it without the boys up front and I know how much that means to them."

Barkley's chain is not the only thing special—according to left tackle Jordan Mailata, Barkley himself deserves that title as well.

"There's a saying 'special players make special plays,'" Mailata said, per Simmons. "I think his work ethic is — there's no one like it. There's nothing I can compare to the way he works. The mental and physical side that he brings to an offense — he's not just a physical, powerful running back, he's a smart, patient running back. The communication that he's able to have between offensive coordinator, QB to offensive line to wide receivers and tight ends — we're all involved in the running game."

According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the Eagles have the best odds in the league to return to the Super Bowl next season at +600 odds. Perhaps Barkley will get the chance to rep his No. 26 in back-to-back Super Bowl appearances.

Jets' C.J. Mosley Defends Aaron Rodgers amid Rumored Exit: He Did Some Great Things

With Aaron Rodgers' tenure on the New York Jets reportedly coming to a close, linebacker C.J. Mosley reflected on the quarterback's time with the team.

"We tried to do something special," Mosley said on Fox 5 New York (h/t Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk). "Injuries took part in that, took away a lot of time. He did do some great things this year, getting his 500th touchdown. He was a leader no matter what when he came into the locker room, when he was with us this year. Nothing but respect for him to come back from the Achilles, 40-plus years old."

"I know the wins and losses can get in the way of a lot of things that you can accomplish, but there's no reason for him to leave New York with his head down 'cause I know he gave us his all," he added.

Fox Sports' Jay Glazer reported Sunday that Rodgers flew to New Jersey to meet with the Jets and was told that they were moving on from him. Glazer noted that "all signs" point towards the veteran quarterback playing in 2025, but it won't be for the same team that he spent the 2024 season with.

Expectations were high when New York acquired the four-time MVP in a 2023 trade with the Green Bay Packers, but his first season following the change of scenery ended abruptly.

Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles on the opening drive of the regular season, immediately putting an end to his 2023 campaign.

He recovered in time for the start of the 2024 season, suiting up in all 17 games. New York struggled though, finishing with a record of just 5-12 and missing the playoffs for the 14th consecutive season.

Rodgers put together an efficient year, even if he didn't look as sharp in the pocket compared to his days in Green Bay. He completed 63 percent of his throws for 3,897 yards and 28 touchdowns compared to 11 interceptions.

The 41-year-old reached 500 career touchdown passes in Week 18, becoming the fifth quarterback in NFL history to do so.

While the pairing between Rodgers and the Jets ultimately didn't work out, Mosley looked back on the signal-caller's time with the organization fondly.

Eagles' Win vs. Chiefs Sets Super Bowl Record with 126m Viewers, Most in NFL History

Feb 10, 2025

The Philadelphia Eagles won Super Bowl LIX over the Kansas City Chiefs in front of a record number of viewers.

The Super Bowl set an all-time record with a projected average audience of 126 million viewers on Sunday night, according to Fox Sports PR.

The network reported a peak audience of 135.7 million viewers in the second quarter of the Eagles' 40-22 win.

The Super Bowl also drew in record-high streaming viewership, including 13.6 million viewers watching on Tubi, according to Fox Sports.

By the time viewership reportedly peaked on Sunday, the result of the Super Bowl was already all but decided. The Eagles pulled out to a 24-0 lead through two quarters, and were leading by 34 points before the Chiefs finally scored late in the third quarter.

Struggles against the Eagles' defense didn't stop the Chiefs from making history. Kansas City's appearances in the last three Super Bowls reportedly coincided with three separate viewership records.

The Eagles and Chiefs' last matchup in Super Bowl LVII attracted an average of 115.1 million viewers to Fox Sports broadcasts in February 2023, according to Nielson and ESPN. That stood, at the time, as the most-watched U.S.-based telecast in history, per ESPN.

The Chiefs' matchup with the San Francisco 49ers in last year's Super Bowl LVIII set another record with 123.4 million average viewers across platforms including CBS and Paramount+, according to Nielsen and the NFL.

Now the record has been reportedly broken for a third straight year.

Prior to the Chiefs' run, the Super Bowl viewership record had been set in 2015 by the average of 114.4 million people watching Tom Brady and the New England Patriots defeat the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX, per ESPN.

NBC has the rights to three upcoming Super Bowls, including Super Bowl LX. The championship game for the 2025 season is set to take place in the San Francisco 49ers' Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California next February.

Chris Long: Eagles' Jalen Hurts Said 'It's Already Been Written' After NFC Title Game

Jalen Hurts earned himself Super Bowl MVP honors for his excellent performance against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, as the Philadelphia Eagles rolled to a 40-22 blowout victory.

And Hurts saw it all coming.

Former NFL player Chris Long said on his Green Light with Chris Long podcast (a production of Yote House Media) that he briefly spoke to Hurts after the NFC Championship Game two weeks ago, and the veteran quarterback was the picture of confidence:

Much of the discourse following the Super Bowl victory will be the absolutely dominant performance of the defense, which sacked Patrick Mahomes six times, secured three turnovers and pitched a first-half shutout. Fair enough—it was pure bully ball, flummoxing the most talented quarterback in the sport.

But Hurts was fantastic as well, responding to the Chiefs' decision to load up the box and stop running back Saquon Barkley by finishing 17-of-22 through the air for 221 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, taking two sacks. And he was fantastic as a runner, rushing for 72 yards and a score.

There was a lot of talk about the limitations of Hurts and the passing game this year, and whether he could lead the team to a victory if the running game was slowed. Those questions have been forever put to bed.

Video: Jalen Hurts Celebrates at Disney World After Eagles' Super Bowl Win

Feb 10, 2025

Jalen Hurts is exactly where he should be after winning Super Bowl 59 – he is at Disney World.

Following the Philadelphia Eagles' dominant 40-22 win over the back-to-back champion Kansas City Chiefs, Hurts topped it off by starring in the iconic Disney World commercial, telling viewers that after winning the Super Bowl, he's "going to Disney World"—and he did just that.

https://twitter.com/WaltDisneyWorld/status/1888837499503468807

Hurts jetted down to Orlando to celebrate his victory alongside Mickey Mouse at the "Happiest Place on Earth," capping off his Super Bowl performance—221 yards, two touchdowns, and a rushing score—with a parade down Main Street, U.S.A.

The Super Bowl MVP led the crowd in an "E-A-G-L-E-S" chant, and they responded with "M-V-P" chants in return.

He also took a ride on the Tron Lightcycle/Run, a new addition to Magic Kingdom that opened in 2023.

Hurts led the Philadelphia Eagles to their second Super Bowl victory in franchise history, following their first championship in 2017 over Tom Brady and the New England Patriots under former quarterback Nick Foles.

With a day of celebration in Orlando underway, Hurts kicked off the first of many festivities, as Philadelphia prepares for a week of events. The team's championship parade is set for Feb. 14 in Philadelphia.

NFL Insider Feels Titans, Every Team in Top 5 of 2025 Draft Will Look to Trade Down

Feb 10, 2025

A general view of the 2025 NFL Draft logo at the NFL Experience fan festival a day prior to Super Bowl LIX between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles.

With an underwhelming 2025 draft class, Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated expects the top five teams to "look at the idea of trading down."

Due to the lack of high-end talent, particularly at quarterback, most teams view Travis Hunter and Abdul Carter as the only "real blue-chip" prospects in the draft, per Breer.

However, this is what could make it difficult for top five teams to find others who are willing to trade up.

2025 NFL draft order top five is:

  1. Tennessee Titans
  2. Cleveland Browns
  3. New York Giants
  4. New England Patriots
  5. Jacksonville Jaguars.

According to Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department, the top five players are:

  1. Travis Hunter (cornerback)
  2. Abdul Carter (edge)
  3. Mason Graham (defensive lineman)
  4. Tetairoa McMillan (wide receiver)
  5. Malakai Starks (safety)

Post-Super Bowl predictions have Cam Ward going No. 1 overall to the Titans who are in desperate need of new talent at the quarterback position.

In late January, the Titans made it clear that they intend to keep the top pick.

"We won't pass on a generational talent with the first pick in the NFL draft," Brinker said, per NFL's Eric Edholm. "We won't do that."

However, the team's decision is far from final. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, sources say that Tennessee "has an open mind with the first pick."

"All options are on the table, including possibly trading the pick, and the Titans are expected to receive calls from other teams," Rapoport wrote.

If Tennessee, which finished last season with a 3-14 record, trades the No. 1 pick, it would mark the second time in three years that the top selection has been moved. The Chicago Bears traded theirs to the Carolina Panthers in 2023.

The only team that seems likely to stand firm on keeping its pick is the Browns, who are still dealing with the Myles Garrett situation after his trade request. With Abdul Carter available as a standout edge-rusher to potentially replace him, it seems unlikely Cleveland would trade down.

"Considering Garrett's current stance, the Browns are in desperate need of an edge-rusher," Matt Holder of Bleacher Report said. "While Carter won't be able to fill Garrett's shoes right away—no one can—the Penn State product is by far the best pass-rusher in this year's draft class."

The 2025 NFL draft kicks off on April 24 with Round 1.

Mel Kiper: Titans Should Take Travis Hunter No. 1 in 2025 NFL Draft amid Trade Rumors

The Tennessee Titans will have a wide array of options with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, but ESPN draft guru Mel Kiper Jr. believes Travis Hunter should be the selection.

In a conversation with ESPN's Field Yates regarding the Titans' choice with the No. 1 pick, Kiper confirmed he would add the Colorado two-way standout.

"If you asked me the question, I would take Travis Hunter," Kiper said (32:15 mark).

He also explained why he's been impressed with Hunter throughout the predraft process.

"Travis Hunter, what he does, he's effortless," Kiper said (28:00 mark). "He is so smooth. You don't realize how fast he is because he's such a smooth athlete. He's so smart. He's so tough. His stamina and endurance level is through the roof. I'm taking Travis Hunter if I'm taking the best player in this draft."

Tennessee's intentions with the top pick aren't clear. ESPN's Dan Graziano reported Saturday that he talked to "multiple people who think the Titans could trade out of the top pick."

If the Titans decide to stay put, they could target a quarterback given the struggles of starter Will Levis in 2024. Still, Titans president of football operations Chad Brinker didn't commit to selecting a signal-caller.

"We won't pass on a generational talent with the first pick in the NFL draft," Brinker said, via NFL.com's Eric Edholm. "We won't do that."

Hunter, the winner of the 2024 Heisman Trophy, is coming off an incredible season with the Buffaloes. He excelled at both wide receiver and cornerback, recording 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns as a wideout. He also racked up 36 tackles, 11 passes defensed and four interceptions at cornerback.

Hunter was ranked as the No. 1 overall player in the 2025 draft class on the latest big board from Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department.

The Titans could look to move down from the top pick or select a quarterback, but Kiper is adamant that they should stay put and acquire Hunter.
