AEW Collision Results: Winners, Live Grades, Reaction, Highlights Before WrestleDream

Welcome to Bleacher Report's live coverage of AEW Collision on September 30.
This was the final AEW show before WrestleDream on Sunday, so any last-minute changes Tony Khan wanted to make to the pay-per-view had to be done on this show.
Most of the competitors who were featured on Saturday will also fight at the PPV, so almost every segment was set up to help build up WrestleDream.
FTR, Bryan Danielson, Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho and many more collided on Saturday. Let's take a look at what happened.
Andrade El Idolo vs. Juice Robinson

The final episode of AEW TV before the inaugural WrestleDream PPV kicked off with Juice Robinson taking on Andrade El Idolo. As usual, Robinson had The Gunns with him for backup.
Rock Hard got right in El Idolo's face and traded some growls and harsh words before Andrade tripped him and tried to lock in the Figure Four. Robinson escaped and took a breather at ringside.
As expected, Colten and Austin Gunn attacked El Idolo while Robinson had the referee distracted. At points, this was a three-on-one fight.
The disadvantage helped make the former leader of LFI into an underdog, which he wouldn't usually be against Robinson due to his larger physique and level of experience.
This never quite reached the same level of excitement as Andrade vs. Jay White from last week, but it was trying to tell a different kind of story. The match with White was about setting up this feud. This one was about El Idolo getting a little bit of revenge.
This was a lot of fun, especially during the final five minutes. Robinson is like Teflon. He can take a million losses and still get himself booked.
Result: Andrade El Idolo wins by pinfall.
Grade: B+
Notable Moments and Observations
- The quick promo videos at the top of the show were funnier than usual.
- Robinson missing a senton when El Idolo avoided it was funnier than it should have been.
- El Idolo hit a nice Three Amigos combo.
- Robinson's "Why didn't that work?" face is amazing.
- The way Robinson sold a spinning elbow to the face was perfect.
The Kingdom vs. Best Friends

Chuck Taylor and Trent Beretta didn't wait for the bell to ring before going after Matt Taven and Mike Bennett.
The Kingdom eventually took control and used quick tags and double-team moves to keep their opponents apart, but Taylor and Beretta.
AEW has always done tag team wrestling well, so it will surprise nobody to find out this was a solid match. Best Friends looked better than they have in a long time, but they couldn't overcome the illegal Wiener Punch that Bennett used behind the ref's back.
Result: The Kingdom won by pinfall.
Grade: B-
Notable Moments and Observations
- Maria Kanellis hasn't been with The Kingdom as frequently in recent months. It's weird to see them without her.
- Taven is great at selling and facial expressions, but Bennet is a little more technically sound. They complement each other well.
- Bennet and Taven gave a promo after the match that they said was only for Adam Cole. They asked him to meet them at Roderick Strong's house as soon as possible.
Julia Hart vs. Vertvixen

Vertvixen made her Collision debut this week, but it wasn't exactly a happy occasion. She had to face Julia Hart, who was on a 27-match winning streak heading into this bout.
Hart won in quick fashion and immediately called out Kris Statlander. She arrived with Best Friends with her since Hart had Brody King. The men stepped aside and let the women have the ring, but Hart decided to play mind games and left the ring.
Result: Julia Hart won by pinfall.
Grade: Incomplete
Notable Moments and Observations
- AEW showed the Julia Hart video again. That might be one of the best video packages AEW has made to date.
The Gates of Agony vs. Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega, The Righteous Squash

Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona had a big opportunity this week when they stepped into the ring with the odd couple pairing of Jericho and Omega.
Liona and Kaun had the power advantage as well as an edge in experience working as teammates, but Jericho and Omega have both been tag team specialists at different points in their careers, so they worked well together for the most part.
Prince Nana helped give his team an edge by setting up Liona to send Omega flying into Jericho, but they only had the upper hand for a little while.
The Cleaner and The Demo God did a good job making themselves look like the underdogs despite the result of this match being obvious from the get-go. It helped make Liona and Kaun look like a formidable duo.
Result: Omega and Jericho win by submission.
Grade: B
The Righteous had another promo video directed at MJF and Cole before they stepped into the ring with two talents named Judas Icarus and Travis Williams for a squash match.
Icarus and Williams have both done a lot of work for Love Pro Wrestling in Canada. Go check them out.
Result: The Righteous won by pinfall.
Grade: Incomplete
Notable Moments and Observations
- The crowd seemed pretty excited to see Jericho and Omega teaming together.
- Omega and Jericho were doing a great job playing to the crowd between spots.
- Prince Nana running around at ringside is always really funny, but somehow he never takes too much attention away from what is happening in the ring.
FTR, Bryan Danielson and Wheeler Yuta vs. Aussie Open, Big Bill and Ricky Starks

The main event of this week's show featured Bryan Danielson, Wheeler Yuta, Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler taking on Big Bill, Ricky Starks, Mark Fletcher and Mark Davis.
Starks avoided having to face Yuta before their match tomorrow by tagging out to Fletcher as soon as the match began.
As is the case with most eight-man tag matches, everyone got a little bit of time in the ring, but only a couple of people stood out on each team. Yuta, Fletcher, Wheeler and Davis definitely had the most memorable moments individually.
This match had a lot of fun moves and sequences, but it never felt like either team had a clear advantage. The tide changed a few too many times.
Even with those minor complaints, this was a good way to close the show. The crowd was hot, the wrestlers were having a good time hitting multi-man spots, and the announcers were having fun with ZSJ at the table.
However, it felt like the ending to the match may have been screwed up. Wheeler clearly made it in time to break up Starks' pin on Harwood, but the ref still counted to three and called for the bell.
Danielson and Sabre had a staredown to close out the show and send us into the PPV on Sunday.
Result: Starks, Big Bill and Aussie Open
Grade: B
Notable Moments and Observations
- Zack Sabre Jr. was great on commentary. He has good comedic timing.
- Harwood and Davis had a fun exchange of strikes.
- Yuta has a great German suplex.
- The four-way Yes Kick spot was a lot of fun.
The Final Word
As far as PPV go-home shows go, this week's Collision did a good job covering all of the major feuds and giving us a few encounters to sell Sunday's card.
Ending the show with Danielson and Sabre was the right call as they likely have one of the most anticipated matches of the year set for WrestleDream.
El Idolo and Robinson had the best match bell-to-bell, but every segment ranged from good to great, especially the video package with Toni Storm and RJ City.
WrestleDream has a solid card booked and will almost certainly be a good show. Let's hope everyone makes it out of Seattle in one piece.
Grade: B+
