WWE SmackDown Results: Winners, Live Grades and Highlights From Feb. 14

Welcome to Bleacher Report's live coverage of WWE SmackDown on February 14.

The buildup for the Elimination Chamber continued this week with two more qualifying matches.

Jacob Fatu, Braun Strowman and Damian Priest battled for a spot in the men's Chamber, while Chelsea Green and Naomi fought for a spot in the women's.

We also saw some title action as Tiffany Stratton defended the WWE Women's Championship against the woman she defeated for the belt, Nia Jax.

Let's take a look at everything that happened on Friday's episode of SmackDown.

Opening Segment

SmackDown opened with Wade Barrett explaining why Joe Tessitore was not there this week before Vic Joseph threw to a video recap of last week's show. Cody Rhodes came out to the ring to kick things off in the arena.

The American Nightmare went through some of the top options for his WrestleMania opponent to get the crowd's reaction, but then he started talking about Solo Sikoa. He didn't get to say much before Drew McIntyre interrupted.

Jacob Fatu came out and said he plans to bring the title back home to his family where it belongs. They saw Sikoa arrive backstage on the big screen and Fatu looked upset. He told Rhodes he would get the first word with Solo, but Rhodes said he would get the last.

This was a decent opening segment that set up several angles. Nobody threw any punches, but sometimes that is for the best.

Grade: B-

Notable Moments and Observations

—Rhodes calling CM Punk his friend was interesting. These two have never had a ton of on-screen interaction, so this may be setting up for something down the line.

—Having McIntyre be upset that Rhodes didn't talk about him enough seems like pettiness that is below him, but then we have to remember that he is at his best when he is being petty like he was during the CM Punk feud.

—Fatu had good energy on the mic. He is making the most of every time he gets to speak now that he is saying more than "I love you, Solo."

Naomi vs. Chelsea Green

Barrett interviewed Trish Stratus in the crowd before we saw Naomi and Green compete in a Chamber qualifying match.

Naomi scored a few two-counts right away, but she couldn't keep the United States champion down for the pin. She maintained control for a few minutes before a slight distraction from Piper Niven allowed Green to take over.

Naomi didn't begin to make her comeback until we returned. Bianca Belair cheered her on while Niven offered Green support. The Queen of Glow began to build up a head of steam as she hit a series of quick moves.

Green hit a Rough Ryder but it didn't get her the pin. Naomi was able to rally and scored the pin to advance to the Chamber.

These two have had several opportunities to work together and seem to get a little better every time. They have good chemistry and know what the other person is capable of, so they did a lot to make each other look good.

Result: Naomi defeated Green

Grade: B

Notable Moments and Observations

—A feud with Chelsea and Trish would be awesome and WWE needs to make it happen.

—Green's attire looked like it was a reference to the USA gear Lex Luger used to wear.

—The meteora from Naomi looked great. She hit it flush.

Los Garzas vs. Motor City Machine Guns

The next matchup saw Los Garzas and The Motor City Machine Guns compete in a tag match. As expected, this was fast-paced from the moment the bell rang.

They show went to a break after about a minute, and we returned to see MCMG back in the driver's seat after Los Garzas got off to a good start.

Both teams had some impressive double-team spots throughout the match to highlight their speed, teamwork and agility.

Even though Angel and Berto looked good, Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley were too much for them this week. They scored the win in a solid match and will likely focus on regaining the titles moving forward.

Result: MCMG defeated Los Garzas

Grade: B

Notable Moments and Observations

—The way Los Garzas were countering some of MCMG's signature offense made them look better than they ever have.

—It's hard to believe Angel and Berto were in WWE for this long before they were finally used in the tag team division on a regular basis.

The Miz vs. LA Knight

Fatu and Tama Tonga were shown finding Sikoa backstage. He said he needed time off because he let the family down. He said he loved Jacob, but it didn't seem to make him care. He and Tonga walked away from Solo without a word.

Shinsuke Nakamura was out for a promo, but he was interrupted by LA Knight. He was soon followed by The Miz, who trashed Knight and said he isn't worthy of a shot at the U.S. title.

They talked for quite some time before this finally turned into a match thanks to Nick Aldis. Nakamura was just standing at ringside the whole time watching them argue. It felt like the talking part of this went way longer than it needed to.

Once we returned from a break, the bout was already in progress. Nakamura watched as both men took turns controlling the pace.

This was a down-the-middle match. They did some good work, but it never felt like they left second gear until after the mid-match break.

The crowd came alive when Knight finally hit the BFT followed by an elbow drop for the pin and the win. He and Nakamura had a stare down at the end of the segment, so they will clearly enter into a feud over the title again.

Result: Knight defeated The Miz

Grade: B-

Notable Moments and Observations

—Knight and The Miz are so similar in so many ways. They would actually be a good tag team.

Ad Placeholder

—The Miz's fake crying was so over the top that it was almost funny. The keyword being almost.

—Wade Barrett made an Anchorman reference on commentary. He has been leaning hard on pop culture references recently.

—Knight hit the steel steps hard when Miz shoved him.

R-Truth vs. Carmelo Hayes

R-Truth got on Carmelo Hayes' bad side backstage and it led to them having a match on this week's show.

Truth countered a hip toss to get the match going, but Melo nailed him with a springboard clothesline to take him down.

Truth used a couple of John Cena's trademark moves before Hayes fed him a superkick. A few moments later, a leg drop from the top rope scored Melo a quick win.

This was fine for what it was, but it wasn't much of anything. Truth can still go in the ring, so it would have been nice to see them get a few more minutes.

Result: Hayes defeated Truth

Grade: C

Notable Moments and Observations

—During a backstage segment with Alexa Bliss, there was a quick moment when WWE put a Wyatt Sicks graphic up. It looks like she might be involved with the group after all.

—The Miz and Melo's backstage moment was hilarious.

—Either Truth was chewing Gum or Hayes knocked a tooth out of his mouth.

Tiffany Stratton vs. Nia Jax

The next matchup saw Tiffany defend the women's title against the woman she won it from, Jax. As usual, Candice LeRae was by Jax's side.

Jax immediately scooped the champion up and drove her to the corner. Stratton used her speed to avoid her for a bit, but Jax eventually caught her with a headbutt to get a two-count.

The match lasted through a break into the next segment and saw Jax control the action for an extended period of time. This was booked to make the champion look like a huge underdog, and it worked for the most part.

While they had a handful of good spots, there were also moments when they were clearly on different pages. A few sloppy moments really stuck out and hurt the flow of the match, which was unfortunate because a lot of what they did looked great.

Stratton turned up the heat after the break and hit a moonsault followed by a Swanton bomb for a two count.

LeRae interfered to cause a disqualification, but Jax didn't seem upset. She continued to attack the champion until Trish got involved to make the save. Jax was able to take out both women before officials made her leave.

Charlotte Flair came out while Tiffy was still recovering and declared that she would face Stratton at WrestleMania.

Result: Stratton won by DQ

Grade: B-

Notable Moments and Observations

—DIY and Pretty Deadly had a backstage segment to set up their title match next week.

—WWE aired a hype video for this bout between their entrances. It would have been much more effective earlier in the show.

Ad Placeholder

—The popup Samoan drop looked good, but it was close to being a bad landing for Stratton.

—Stratton tried a sunset flip counter, but it went horribly wrong.

—Stratton's double stomp in the corner looked awesome.

Jacob Fatu vs. Braun Strowman vs. Damian Priest

This week's main event was a triple threat match for a spot inside the Elimination Chamber between Fatu, Strowman and Priest.

Fatu and Priest sent Strowman out of the ring early so they could have an exchange of strikes. The Archer of Infamy looked like he had the upper hand until Fatu no-sold some hits and took him down.

When we returned from a break, all three men were involved in the action, but it felt like Strowman kept being the odd man out until the last five minutes.

The Monster Among Men began to go on a rampage, but Fatu and Priest kept going after each other in a clear attempt to set up a singles feud that may lead to a WrestleMania match.

Solo showed up to help Fatu, but Rhodes ran down to fight him. Tonga joined Sikoa, but Rhodes was able to get the better of them. All Fatu saw was Solo hitting Tonga and assumed it was intentional, so all hell broke loose.

Priest came out on top and earned his spot in the Elimination Chamber to end the show and earn the fifth spot in the match. Rhodes and Priest had a brief moment after the match but shook hands.

This was an entertaining main event with a lot of action, but the level of outside interference seemed excessive at the end. It worked, but it was still a bit much.

Result: Priest defeated Fatu and Strowman

Grade: B

Notable Moments and Observations

Ad Placeholder

—Jimmy Uso was shown talking to McIntyre backstage and he ended up superkicking him.

—Fatu is one of the few people who is believable when he no-sells offense. He looks insane enough to not feel pain.

—Fatu yanking Priest off the top rope into a Samoan drop was awesome.

The Final Word

Friday's SmackDown saw a lot of forward movement in various storylines, but the biggest development was Flair deciding to face Stratton at WrestleMania.

Naomi and Green turned in a great performance in the opening match, but all of the other bouts were entertaining in their own way.

Even the short match between Hayes and Truth had some value to it because it made Melo look like a dangerous competitor.

With the Elimination Chamber matches almost filled up, the PPV is almost set. We still have two weeks to go until the PLE, so WWE still has some time to put a bow on all of the big storylines.
