AEW Collision Results: Winners, Live Grades, Reaction, Highlights Before Revolution

Welcome to Bleacher Report's live coverage of AEW Collision on March 8.

Here is a look at what AEW advertised for the pre-Revolution episode of Collision:

  • Harley Cameron in action
  • Hologram vs. Dralistico
  • Serena Deeb vs. Momo Watanabe
  • Daniel Garcia vs. Lee Moriarty

Let's take a look at everything that happened on this week's episode of Collision.

The OPPS Squash

Samoa Joe, Hook and Katsuyori Shibata were in trios action this week against a group of local talent who seemed ill-prepared for this encounter.

Hook started off against a guy in overalls and made quick work of him. This was just a workout for Joe, Shibata and Hook. They had zero problems beating this team in less than five minutes. It was longer than a usual squash, but it was still very squashy.

Result: OPPS won

Grade: Incomplete

Notable Moments and Observations

  • Shibata and Joe teeing off on one jobber was a fun moment.
  • The crowd was chanting Joe's name a lot after the match.

Serena Deeb vs. Momo Watanabe

Before she battles The CEO for the TBS title tomorrow, Watanabe had an exhibition match against Deeb on this week's show.

They started with a simple exchange of wristlocks and counters to show off some technical ability, but they came to a stalemate and reset.

Deeb had a clear advantage when it came to submissions, so Watanabe didn't take control until she uncorked a running dropkick.

They worked through the break and into the next segment. Both competitors worked hard to make this a fun match with a lot of technical precision. They weren't doing a lot of exciting high-flying moves or using weapons, but you will not have an easy time finding a better performance than this from the week.

Deeb came close to winning a few times, but the challenger for the TBS title was not about to lose 24 hours before her big match. Watanabe made a comeback and hit her finisher for the pin and the win.

Mone tried to confront Watanabe but ended up eating a kick to the head and a meteora.

Result: Watanabe defeated Deeb

Grade: A-

Notable Moments and Observations

  • Mone put over Deeb on commentary pretty well. She even said Deeb probably has one-up on her by knowing more holds.
  • Watanabe almost fell short of her target with one of her dropkicks.
  • The way Deeb did a leg whip over the middle rope looked so painful.
  • Watanabe's finisher looks like it would be easy to screw up, so it's impressive that she can do it so well.

Harley Cameron vs. Tatevik

Cameron battles a woman named Tatevik this week and her opponent attacked her before the bell to get an unfair advantage.

This newcomer looked good and hit a variety of moves as the crowd chanted Harley's name. The ventriloquist was able to make a comeback and picked up a quick win.

This was much more competitive than a squash even though the outcome was just as predictable. Cameron continues to gain popularity, but hopefully she gets more chances to work longer matches in the future.

Result: Cameron defeated Tatevik

Grade: C

Notable Moments and Observations

  • Will Ospreay gave an interview after what happened on Dynamite and it was shown on this show.
  • Tatevik was having trouble getting into position for Harley's finisher.

The Infantry vs. Undisputed Kingdom

Carlie Bravo and Shawn Dean were in action this week against Kyle O'Reilly and Roderick Strong. Shane Taylor was at ringside but Adam Cole was nowhere to be seen.

KOR and Strong had the upper hand early, but The Infantry was able to use some double-team offense to isolate O'Reilly in their corner for a bit.

We returned moments Bravo and Strong made desperate tags to their fresh teammates. KOR and Strong picked up the win after an exciting final few minutes.

This was a fun match with a clean ending. You can't ask for much more than that.

Result: Undisputed Kingdom defeated Infantry

Grade: B

Notable Moments and Observations

  • Roddy chopped Bravo into next week when the match started.
  • Taylor's ability to trash talk is second to none because you believe he can back up every word.
  • KOR refusing to release a hold when Dean had him in a sleeper was good stuff.

Hologram vs. Dralistico

We were treated to some lucha libre action this week when Hologram took on LFI's Dralistico, who came out alone instead of with his allies.

They spent the first minute flipping and countering out of each other's way, but neither competitor was able to hit a clean move until Dralistico took control. He proceeded to dominate Hologram for several minutes by beating him up all around the ring.

Hologram didn't begin to build any momentum until we returned from a break. What began as a pretty standard match turned into a spot fest of the highest quality. This was an incredible display of agility, balance and speed from both men.

The Portal Bomb helped Hologram pick up the victory to up his record to 17-0. The Beast Mortos laid him out as soon as the match was over. Komander tried to help but he was taken down, too.

Result: Hologram defeated Dralistico

Grade: B

Notable Moments and Observations

  • Dralistico always has one of the coolest masks.
  • It stops being interesting when everyone tries to rip the mask off of every luchador.
  • The Spanish Fly on the floor looked great.
  • Dralistico's hurricanrana from the apron was awesome.
  • The spot with Dralistico trying to use the ropes for leverage felt too contrived.

The Outrunners vs. Premier Athletes

Turbo Magnum and Truth Floyd had a warmup before their title match tomorrow night, but The Ariya Daivari and Tony Nese were looking to ruin their fun.

While this had some competitive moments, this was not a match that was designed to be a back-and-forth contest. It was designed to make The Outrunners look good before they are fed to The Hurt Syndicate on Sunday.

They fought through a break, so the match had some decent time and gave them enough chances for all four men to get some time in the ring. This was fun, but it wasn't a match that is going to stand out compared to some of the others on the show.

The Hurt Syndicate came out and distracted The Outrunners, but it wasn't enough. Floyd and Magnum hit Total Recall for the win.

Result: The Outrunners defeated The Premier Athletes

Grade: B-

Notable Moments and Observation

  • It would be nice if AEW did something with Josh Woods. He would have been a perfect fit for The Death Riders.
  • Magnum really gets into this gimmick. It's fun to see.

Daniel Garcia vs. Lee Moriarty

This week's main event was a TNT Championship match featuring Garcia defending the belt against Moriarty, who was not defending his ROH Pure Championship.

As expected, these two immediately turned this into a technical clinic. They were performing takedowns and counters at breakneck speed and extreme precision.

Once in a while, a match comes along that you just need to see for yourself because there is no way to recap it and do it justice. This is one of those bouts.

The skill of both of these young men has been documented for the last few years, and this was another example of why they are two of the brightest prospects in all of AEW.

After a hard-fought match, Garcia retained his title with a piledriver to end a fantastic match. As it looked like STP was about to attack Garcia, The Undisputed Kingdom made the save.

Result: Garcia defeated Moriarty

Grade: A-

Notable Moments and Observations

  • The announcer accidentally said TBS instead of TNT when announcing the match.
  • Garcia actually did the dance this time.
  • Daddy Magic and Nigel McGuinness had a funny rapport on commentary.

The Final Word

AEW has a PPV tomorrow, so it made sense that most of the big stars were not in action this week to save them for Sunday, but we still got a good night of wrestling.

Deeb and Watanabe put on a clinic early in the show, and that was followed by an equally impressive performance from Garcia and Moriarty later in the evening.

We also saw some great lucha action with Hologram and Dralistico, and some comedy moments with Harley and The Outrunners.

All in all, this was a fun two hours of pro wrestling and a good go-home show before Revolution tomorrow night.
