AEW Rampage Results: Winners, Grades, Reaction and Highlights from April 28

Welcome to Bleacher Report's coverage and recap of AEW Rampage on April 28.

This week's show had a couple of singles matches, but the theme of the night seemed to be tag team wrestling.

The newly formed duo of Keith Lee and Dustin Rhodes was in action, The Acclaimed made an appearance, one-half of the AEW tag team champions was in action when Cash Wheeler faced Jay Lethal, and the team of Jay White and Juice Robinson battled Ricky Starks and Shawn Spears.

We also heard from The Outcasts and saw a singles bout between Anna Jay and All Elite Wrestling newcomer Ashley D'Amboise.

Let's take a look at everything that happened on Friday's episode of Rampage.

Juice Robinson and Jay White vs. Ricky Starks and Shawn Spears

Starks and Spears didn't want to wait for the bell to get the action going in the first match of the night. White and Robinson made their entrances first, and as soon as their opponents showed up, they rushed the ring and began brawling.

All four men fought in and out of the ring for a few minutes until the ref finally got them to adhere to the rules and put the non-legal partner in their corner.

The Bullet Club members used a lot of dirty tactics and double-team offense to keep Spears isolated during the commercial break.

Starks went on a rampage after we returned (no pun intended) and it looked like he and Spears had the match firmly in hand, but Bullet Club Gold was able to get the victory when White pinned Spears with his finisher.

Not only was this a good tag team match overall, but both duos showed quite a bit of chemistry as partners. The AEW tag team division is already crowded, but if either of these teams were to join it, they would do well.

Winners: Jay White and Juice Robinson

Grade: B

Notable Moments and Observations

  • It's cool that people are allowed to remain in the Bullet Club even if they leave NJPW, but AEW should have its own chapter.
  • The fact that AEW hasn't done more with Spears is criminal. He is so good as both a heel and a babyface, and he can work with any kind of opponent. He should be an upper-midcard star at the least.
  • Robinson's gear is great. Whoever made it did a good job making it unique to him.
  • Starks has one of the cleanest dropkicks in AEW.
  • Starks has a good punch. A lot of wrestlers don't look convincing when they do one, but Starks makes his look like they connect.

Naturally Limitless vs. Brady Pierce and Charlie James

Keith Lee and Dustin Rhodes.

Keith Lee and Dustin Rhodes made their debut as the new tag team Naturally Limitless in a match against two enhancement talents known as Brady Pierce and Charlie James.

This was little more than a glorified squash match. They made it last a little longer than they needed to in order to allow Rhodes and Lee to show off a bit, but the ending was never in question. Lee and Rhodes won when The Limitless One hit the Spirit Bomb.

Swerve Strickland's music hit, and The Mogul Affiliates came out on the stage, but there was no physical confrontation. This segment kept their feud going, but it didn't add anything to it.

Winners: Naturally Limitless

Grade: Incomplete

Notable Moments and Observations

  • Lee's entrance cape was great. It fits his character perfectly.
  • Rhodes telling Lee to throw him into their opponents was a fun moment.

Anna Jay vs. Ashley D'Amboise

The third match of the night saw Anna Jay take on someone who has been making more appearances in AEW lately, Ashley D'Amboise.

This match began with both women trying hard to get the upper hand. D'Amboise almost managed to take control, but Jay countered her in the corner and then stretched her against the ring post to inflict some more punishment.

Jay got the win by making D'Amboise tap out to The Queenslayer, but her celebration was cut short when Julia Hart showed up to attack her from behind.

The match was OK, but the fight that came after is what people are interested in seeing. Jay ended up getting the upper hand before the refs made her back off.

Winner: Anna Jay

Grade: C+

Notable Moments and Observations

  • Anna Jay's shirt is going to get some middle school students in trouble, just like DX merchandise did for that generation. That is why kids are going to want it.
  • If you go back and look at Anna's first few matches in AEW, you will see how far she has come in just a couple of years. One big improvement is her transitions. She no longer has awkward pauses between moves. She knows how to fill that time with body language and facial expressions to add to the story of the match.

The Acclaimed vs. Three Jobbers, Jay Lethal vs. Cash Wheeler

Cash Wheeler and Jay Lethal.

Max Caster, Anthony Bowens and Daddy Ass took on three jobbers whose names would take longer to say than the match itself. Caster got the pin for his team with the Mic Drop. There's nothing else to say about this.

It may have been fun for the live crowd, but this felt like a waste of time, especially on a show that is only one hour and often struggles with pacing issues.

Winners: The Acclaimed

Grade: Incomplete

The main event of the night was something of a Part 2. Jeff Jarrett took on Dax Harwood on Wednesday, so their partners faced off on Rampage when Wheeler took on Lethal.

Unlike Wednesday, the allies of both men did not remain backstage. Wheeler said he knew Lethal would cheat during his backstage interview, so Mark Briscoe served as the special guest enforcer.

The match started off with both men forgoing their wrestling ability in favor of trying to hit each other as hard as possible.

This bout was highly competitive and definitely the highlight of the entire show. Wheeler and Harwood have proved multiple times that they can carry singles matches just as well as they can with tag team contests.

Some confusion led to Wheeler being shoved into Briscoe and knocking him off the apron. Lethal took advantage of the situation and hit The Lethal Injection for the win. With two singles wins over FTR, Lethal and Jarrett will likely challenge for the tag belts again soon.

Winner: Jay Lethal

Grade: B

Notable Moments and Observations

  • FTR incorporating rainbows into their gear and merchandise is great. You wouldn't think it would fit their characters, but somehow it does.
  • The guy in the front row wearing the Hulk Hogan outfit was annoying people with his sign, so Sonjay Dutt took it away from him. The crowd had a great response.
  • When Cash countered a suplex into a cradle, it almost looked like they did that as a result of Lethal not being able to get him up for a suplex. Either way, it looked good.
