AEW Rampage Results: Fyter Fest Night 2 Winners, Grades, Reaction and Highlights

Welcome to Bleacher Report's coverage and recap of All Elite Wrestling Rampage Fyter Fest on July 15.

This was the second night of Fyter Fest, so AEW put a big match in the main event, with Jonathan Gresham defending the ROH World Championship against Lee Moriarty.

We also saw tag team action, with Private Party taking on The Lucha Bros and The Renegade Twins against Kris Statlander and Athena.

The House of Black was also part of the show as the group took on John Silver and Alex Reynolds of The Dark Order.

Let's take a look at everything that went down during Friday's show.

Silver and Reynolds vs. Malakai Black and Brody King kicked off the show. As usual, all four men were in the ring when the show started to get to the action as quickly as possible.

Reynolds and Black had a nice exchange to get the bout started, but King and Silver eventually tagged in and completely changed the pace of the match to a battle of powerhouses.

There were one or two moments in this match that clearly did not go as planned, but it was never anything big—it was just minor miscommunications.

The match ended with Black and King scoring the win. This was an energetic way to start the show, but it would have been nice if The Dark Order had gotten a win since the group just gave a promo about how it isn't going anywhere.

Winners: House of Black

Grade: B-

Notable Moments and Observations

• Reynolds is smooth in the ring. He might not be as flashy as some people, but he is a good hand AEW can put in the ring with anyone.
• Silver squaring up with King for a showdown was hilarious.
• Silver and Reynolds have a great set of double-team moves.
• Black's dropkick from the top rope to break up a pin was impressive because he had to clear a great distance to hit his target.

The ROH world title match was the second bout of the night. After turning on Moriarty during a tag team match on last week's show, Gresham was accompanied by Tully Blanchard.

These are two guys who are known for their technical precision, but Gresham's new attitude led to him taking the low road a few times to keep his heel heat intact.

Moriarty used his height advantage to win most of the striking exchanges, but Gresham's power allowed him to control the grappling. Both men have a lot of similar attributes, but they used their skills in different ways to create a fun performance.

Unfortunately, it never felt like the outcome was in question. There should be a little bit of unpredictability with title bouts, but we all knew Gresham was going to win, especially since this wasn't the final match of the night.

Winner: Jonathan Gresham

Grade: B+

Notable Moments and Observations

• Moriarty giving Gresham an angry handshake before taking him down was the best way to start this match. 
• Matt Sydal should start a group with just young stars like Moriarty so they can feud with Blackpool Combat Club. The contrast of Regal and Sydal as the two leaders would be interesting. 
• AEW doesn't need Chris Jericho on commentary. 

The Renegade Twins were in action this week against the duo of Statlander and Athena.

Charlette and Robyn wore their hair up this week, so it was a bit harder to tell them apart when their faces were not in clear view. They are not quite identical, but they look enough like each other to pull off the twin magic trick.

We saw a short fight between the two teams before the match was officially underway. Then, Athena won almost immediately with her finisher.

While this win made Athena and Statlander look dominant, it was another example of AEW booking women in shorter, less meaningful matches.

Kiera Hogan and Jade Cargill ran down to the ring to attack the winners and leave them downed to end the segment.

Winners: Athena and Kris Statlander

Grade: D

Notable Moments and Observations

• Athena's ring jacket was awesome.
• AEW is making a habit out of booking short women's matches, and it's a bad habit to have.
• Stokely Hathaway was on TV, and we didn't even get to hear him deliver a promo. That feels like a mistake. 

After we heard from The Gunn Club regarding their breakup with The Acclaimed, Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy took on Rey Fenix and Penta Oscuro in the main event.

Penta and Kassidy started for their teams. While these duos are both known for their ability to fly through the air with the greatest of ease, they didn't just rely on their aerial offense. There was a nice variety of moves used on both sides.

They kept a steady pace throughout the match, but they began to pick up steam in the final few minutes.

The Lucha Bros were able to score the win, but Private Party came close a few times. This was fun, but it fell a little short of expectations. These are two of the best high-flying duos in AEW, so people were probably expecting a match with more excitement.

Notable Moments and Observations

• The pre-match interview we usually get was not nearly as good this week as it usually is. It was all about Private Party telling Andrade they couldn't get ahold of him. It had nothing to do with the match. 
• The fact that is has been almost three years since we saw a tag match with these two teams is wild. It speaks to how deep AEW's tag team division is. 
• Penta was a step off during a couple of moves. He looked good for most of the match, but it looked like he might have been a little worn out by the end of the match for some reason. 
• The ref was literally hit from behind when Rush interfered, and he didn't turn around for a single second until he was gone.
