For fantasy football managers, it's never too early to look ahead.

So, even if you're still sweating out a Week 5 matchup, you should also be thinking about your action plan for Week 6 of the 2024 NFL season.

We'll start the strategizing by building early rankings and projections, plus finding a waiver-wire target at each of the three marquee positions.

Quarterback

Top 10

1. Lamar Jackson, BAL (vs. WAS): 22.7

2. Jalen Hurts, PHI (vs. CLE): 22.4

3. Jayden Daniels, WAS (at BAL): 21.5

3. Josh Allen, BUF (at NYJ): 20.9

4. Jordan Love, GB (vs. ARI): 20.4

5. Kyler Murray, ARI (at GB): 19.5

6. Joe Burrow, CIN (at NYG): 19.2

7. Kirk Cousins, ATL (at CAR): 18.7

8. Justin Fields, PIT (at LV): 18.4

9. Brock Purdy, SF (at SEA): 18.3

10. C.J. Stroud, HOU (at NE): 17.7

Waiver-wire target: Caleb Williams, CHI (vs. JAX)

It's been a mostly slow start for this year's top pick, but Williams looks like he might be figuring things out. He has thrown for better than 300 yards in two of his last three games, and in the other, he completed a career-high 73.9 percent of his passes. He had no touchdowns and two interceptions over his first two outings, and he's at five and two, respectively, in the three contests since.

Running Back

Top 10

1. Saquon Barkley, PHI (vs. CLE): 20.3

2. Derrick Henry, BAL (vs. WAS): 20.0

3. Jordan Mason, SF (at SEA): 18.9

4. Bijan Robinson, ATL (at CAR): 18.5

5. David Montgomery, DET (at DAL): 17.6

6. Jahmyr Gibbs, DET (at DAL): 17.4

7. Josh Jacobs, GB (vs. ARI): 16.9

8. James Conner, ARI (at GB): 16.6

9. Breece Hall, NYJ (vs. BUF): 15.8

10. Kenneth Walker III, SEA (vs. SF): 15.5

Waiver-wire target: Tank Bigsby, JAX (at CHI)

The Jaguars finally found their way to the win column this week, thanks in no small part to the fact they involved Bigsby more than they had all season. He was entrusted with 14 touches (13 carries and a reception), and he used them to tally 129 scrimmage yards and two scores. Jacksonville should continue to prioritize his involvement.

Wide Receiver

9. Brandon Aiyuk, SF (at SEA): 17.9

10. Jayden Reed, GB (vs. ARI): 17.6

Waiver-wire target: Darnell Mooney, ATL (at CAR)

Mooney has been incredible to start this season. So good, in fact, that he probably won't last on waiver wires much longer. Through five games, he's sitting on 24 receptions on 40 targets for 330 yards and three touchdowns. Throw out his one-catch, 15-yard, scoreless debut, and he has averaged 5.8 receptions for 78.8 yards and 0.8 touchdowns.
