AEW Collision Results: Winners, Live Grades, Reaction and Highlights After Revolution

Welcome to Bleacher Report's live coverage of AEW Collision on March 15.

Here's a look at what AEW advertised for Saturday's show:

  • Ricochet vs. Katsuyori Shibata
  • Thunder Rosa vs. Megan Bayne
  • Mark Davis vs. Mark Briscoe
  • FTR vs. Kyle O'Reilly and Roderick Strong

Let's take a look at everything that happened on this week's episode of AEW Collision.

Katsuyori Shibata vs. Ricochet

The ongoing International Championship Eliminator tournament continued in the opening match with Ricochet taking on Shibata.

The Wrestler delivered a kick to Ricochet's leg right away that caused him to limp around for a minute trying to recover, so Shibata was looking to take away his high-flying arsenal.

Once he regained his strength in his leg, Ricochet began to use some his aerial offense, but Shibata didn't let him dictate the pace the entire time. This was a competitive fight with control changing hands several times.

Ricochet sat across from the Japanese legend and tried to unload on him with chops, but they seemed to have no impact.

After a highly enjoyable match, Ricochet managed to steal the win by using the ropes for leverage during a pin. The crowd was quieter than expected and the match didn't have a huge sense of urgency until the end, but it was a solid 15+ minutes of wrestling.

Result: Ricochet defeated Shibata

Grade: B+

Notable Moments and Observations

  • Shibata's little voice notes are still funny, especially when it's a quick two-second thing after someone like Ricochet trash talks him for a full minute.
  • Ricochet has great facial expressions when he is selling.
  • Ricochet's chest was pretty swollen after some chops.
  • Everyone slapping Ricochet's bald head has become one of the best running gags.

Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Griff Garrison

The former Varsity Blonde had a chance to get some TV time this week when Griff Garrison took on Powerhouse Hobbs. The big man won in less than a minute in a definitive squash match.

When Garrison and his buddies were about to attack Hobbs after the match, The Outrunners made the save.

Result: Hobbs defeated Garrison

Grade: Incomplete

Notable Moments and Observations

  • Griff hesitated coming off the ropes for the spinebuster and it made the finish look a bit awkward.

Mark Davis vs. Mark Briscoe, Murder Machines Squash Match

It was a battle of the Marks this week when Briscoe and Davis fought in another International Championship Eliminator tournament match.

Both of these men have been known as tag team specialists for years, so it was fun to see them in singles competition.

Both of these guys are bruisers, so this was a hard-hitting fight from the moment they first made contact. Briscoe favors more high-risk offense, but both men love good exchange of strikes, too.

Despite giving up a lot of size, The Chicken seemed to have the upper hand more often than not. Davis did a good job selling for him and playing the base whenever Briscoe would take to the sky.

Brian Cage and Lance Archer showed up to provide a distraction that allowed Davis to hit his finisher for the pin and the win. This was a decent match with an ending that a lot of people probably didn't see coming, which is never a bad thing in the often predictable world of pro wrestling.

Result: Davis defeated Briscoe

Grade: B

After a break, Archer and Cage carried the two jobbers they quickly defeated to the ring for the second squash of the night.

Result: Murder Machines won

Grade: Incomplete

Notable Moments and Observations

  • Bayne attacked Rosa backstage before this match took place.
  • Briscoe's dive off the chair to the floor was a fun spot.
  • Davis was so funny in his episode of HeyEW with RJ City.

Top Flight and Hologram vs. Lee Moriarty and The Infantry

Jon Moxley attacked Swerve Strickland during a promo before issuing a warning to Adam Copeland in a quick promo.

The next match was a trios bout with Hologram, Dante and Darius Martin taking on Lee Moriarty, Shawn Dean and Carlie Bravo.

Lio Rush and Action Andretti came to watch from the ramp. With these six men all being fast-paced workers, it took no time at all for this to turn into an exciting contest.

This was the usual brand of AEW six-man action. The match had a ton of wild spots and fun moments, but it was also tough to follow everything sometimes because everyone was trying to do something at once.

Top Flight and Hologram got the win when Dante pinned Bravo. The Martins stared down their former friends on the ramp as the celebrated their victory.

Result: Top Flight and Hologram

Grade: B

Notable Moments and Observations

  • There is no way Rush and Andretti's jackets are comfortable to walk around in.
  • AEW really needs to do more with Shane Taylor. He is the kind of intimidating you can't fake or teach. He is one of the few believable monsters in the company.

Thunder Rosa vs. Megan Bayne

Rosa came to the ring with her ribs taped up to sell the attack from Bayne earlier in the show.

The women's division's newest powerhouse immediately took control of her injured opponent.

They battled through a break into the next segment as Le Mera Mera tried to build up some momentum for a comeback. Bayne appeared to be almost unstoppable as she no-sold most of Rosa's offense.

This was a solid performance from both women, but Rosa needing to sell an attack limited the match's potential from the start. Bayne scored the win but continued to attack Rosa after the bell until Toni Storm arrived to make the save.

Result: Bayne defeated Rosa

Grade: B-

Notable Moments and Observations

  • Rosa is underrated with her selling ability. She is good at looking like she is in the most pain she has ever felt. Her screams of pain sound real.
  • Rosa's dropkick through the ropes was nasty. She took Bayne out of the ring the hard way.

FTR vs. Kyle O'Reilly and Roderick Strong

Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler took on KOR and Strong with Adam Cole and Daniel Garcia on commentary.

All four of these men are known as great technical wrestlers, but you can see very distinct differences in their styles.

KOR likes to employ a lot of strikes and submissions, Strong is obviously a fan of suplexes and backbreakers, and both members of FTR are all-around technicians.

Harwood ended up bleeding from his chest after a diving headbutt from O'Reilly, but it didn't slow him down.

This was a fantastic display of what makes tag team wrestling so much fun. Both duos used double-team moves and counters effectively, and all four men brought a lot of energy to the ring.

Even with a few missteps, this was still one of the best televised matches we got this week. FTR hit the Shatter Machine for the pin and the win, but that just means both teams hold a victory now. We will likely get a rematch again in the near future.

Result: FTR defeated KOR and Strong

Grade: A-

Notable Moments and Observations

  • Garcia and Cole have developed a fun rapport. They were great on commentary together.
  • The moment when Wheeler went falling through the ropes was very awkward because the ref was in the way and the timing was off.
  • FTR had a hard time performing the Hart Attack double-team spot. Wheeler kept turning the wrong way, so Harwood had to keep running the ropes until he got it right.

The Final Word

This week's Collision was heavy on wrestling and light on everything else, but that tends to be when AEW shines the most.

Putting aside that two of the matches we got were squashes, most of what we got this week was entertaining and well worth taking the time to watch.

A lot of what we got were stepping stone matches toward bigger showdowns. FTR vs. KOR and Strong is tied to and helped hype Garcia and Cole's upcoming TNT title bout, Bayne vs. Rosa led to Bayne facing off with Storm, and Top Flight's Victory in a trios bout is just setting them up to face Rush and Andretti down the line.

The main event tag match was the best thing on the show from a technical standpoint, but the match between Shane Taylor Promotions and the team of Top Flight and Hologram had plenty to like.

Collision is an easy two hours to watch every week when it leans into the wrestling, and that is exactly what we got this week.
