Cooper Kupp Rumors: Rams 'More Likely Than Not' Will Release WR amid Trade Buzz

The Los Angeles Rams "more likely than not" will release wide receiver Cooper Kupp, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network (28-second mark).
"It seems to me, more likely than not, that it's headed for a release," Rapoport said in part. "Someone could trade for him. This could literally happen as I'm talking, but that's what it seems."
Kupp revealed on Feb. 3 that the Rams intended to trade him "immediately," but nothing has transpired after a month.
Rams general manager Les Snead also told reporters that Kupp staying in town was the "least likely" option.
Kupp has played his entire eight-year NFL career with the Rams.
Kupp has two years left on a three-year, $80.1 million extension. Per Over the Cap, Kupp carries a cap number of $29.8 million in 2025 and $27.3 million in 2026.
Last season was a tough one for Kupp. He opened the season with 14 catches for 110 yards and a touchdown against the Detroit Lions but suffered an ankle injury in Week 2 that kept him out for four weeks.
Kupp fared well over his next seven games, catching 45 passes for 510 yards and five touchdowns. However, over his next four games played (including the postseason), he became an afterthought in the offense, with just five catches for 82 yards and no scores.
Kupp did well in the Rams' finale, catching five passes for 61 yards in a 28-23 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Divisional Round.
However, it's clear the Rams want to move on. Kupp was once the game's top wide receiver, earning Offensive Player of the Year and Super Bowl MVP honors in 2021. Injuries have slowed him down and sidelined him since, but he can still be a reception monster on occasion, as evidenced in the Lions game.
Ultimately, it appears Kupp's great eight-year run with the Rams is coming to an end, one way or another. The next question is which team lines up to sign Kupp and for how much (and how long) if and when the Rams release him.
