Texans' Tank Dell Shows Off Horror-Themed Leg Sleeve Tattoo with Chucky, More in Video

Jack Murray
May 3, 2025
Chargers Texans Football

Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell has added some new body art.

Inked Central revealed Dell's new leg sleeve tattoo on Instagram last month. The work features a depiction of Chucky, the antagonist of the "Child's Play" horror franchise.

Dell also added other references to horror movies, including a tribute to Michael Myers on the body art that portray his fondness for the genre.

Dell is currently recovering from a gruesome leg injury that he suffered during the 2024 NFL season. He tore three ligaments and suffered a dislocated kneecap during the Texans Dec. 21 game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

This unfortunate end to his season came after he had recorded 667 yards and three touchdowns. He has suffered season-ending injuries in each of his two NFL seasons.

While it will be a long road back for Dell to make an impact on the field for the Texans, he will continue his rehab and enjoy expressing himself a bit more with this new tattoo.

Texans Reportedly 'Aggressively' Trying to Trade Up in 2025 NFL Draft, Eye OL Help

Joseph Zucker
Apr 23, 2025
NFL Combine Football

After watching franchise quarterback C.J. Stroud get sacked the second-most times in the league, the Houston Texans are working hard to land one of the top offensive linemen in the 2025 NFL draft, according to The Ringer's Todd McShay.

"I have it on good authority that Houston is aggressively trying to move up in the first round β€” I'm hearing for [Texas' Kelvin Banks Jr.] or [North Dakota State's Grey Zabel]," McShay reported. "If they end up staying here, they have a tough choice to make. I don't think Ohio State OT Josh Simmons fits the makeup that DeMeco Ryans is looking for in his offensive line overhaul. Josh Conerly Jr. would be in consideration, as would Tyler Booker, who has elite football character and Alabama ties that Ryans likes."

Ad Placeholder

The Texans have already overhauled their line to some extent by trading away Laremy Tunsil and Kenyon Green. Dealing Tunsil when he earned a third straight Pro Bowl nod was seemingly counterproductive, but his presence wasn't enough to prevent the line from being middling in 2024. He was also a penalty magnet.

As McShay laid out, Houston isn't in a great position in the first round to address its offensive front.

In Bleacher Report's most recent mock draft, LSU's Will Campbell and Missouri's Armand Membou both went in the top 10. Banks was off the board at No. 16 and triggered a run, with Booker and Zabel going right after.

If Houston stays at No. 25, then the pickings might be somewhat slim in terms of blockers who are good enough to warrant a Day 1 selection.

Alijah Huzzie NFL Draft 2025 Scouting Report for Houston Texans CB

Matt Holder
Apr 22, 2025
Campbell North Carolina Football

The Houston Texans added North Carolina CB Alijah Huzzie as an undrafted free agent after the 2025 NFL draft.

Alijah Huzzie is a press-man corner in a slot corner's body. He has good footwork at the line of scrimmage to mirror and match and is solid at staying in phase when playing man coverage. However, he lacks the ideal length for an outside corner at 5'10" with sub-30-inch arms.

Alijah Huzzie Highlights

Huzzie could make the transition to the inside, as he lined up over the slot during the 2023 campaign, his first season at North Carolina. But he will need to be more consistent against the run and as a tackler to survive there in the NFL. His short-area quickness could also use some work.

Ad Placeholder

The former Tar Heel projects as a backup and will have a chance to earn a roster spot early in his NFL career. However, he may have to spend next season on the PUP list after tearing his ACL in late January at the East-West Shrine Bowl. That injury could prevent him from getting drafted.

MEASUREMENT AND WORKOUT RESULTS

HEIGHT: 5'10"

WEIGHT: 193

HAND: 8⅝”

ARM: 29⅝”

WINGSPAN: 72β…žβ€

POSITIVES

β€” Good ball production with four interceptions and 14 passes defended over the last two seasons.

Ad Placeholder

β€” Good footwork when playing soft press coverage. Uses leverage steps to maintain his pre-snap advantage, keeps his hip square and has good footwork to mirror and match at the line of scrimmage.

β€” Solid hip fluidity to turn and run. Also shows decent long speed to avoid getting beat deep.

β€” Doesn't fall for double-moves when playing man coverage. Stays disciplined and on top of routes.

β€” Can be physical and strong against the run when he wants to.

NEGATIVES

β€” Lack of length will put him into the nickel-corner-only category for some teams.

Ad Placeholder

β€” Struggles to disrupt routes at the line of scrimmage with his jam and will get beat at the top of routes against physical route-runners due to being undersized.

β€” Subpar burst and short-area quickness out of his breaks.

β€” Can get caught with bad eyes in zone coverage, leading to coverage busts.

β€” Not a consistent and physical run defender. Also dives at ankles to when tackling, leading to misses.

Jaylin Smith NFL Draft 2025 Scouting Report for Houston Texans CB

Matt Holder
Apr 22, 2025
Nebraska USC Football

The Houston Texans selected USC CB Jaylin Smith with the No. 97 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft.

Jaylin Smith primarily played as a slot corner during his first three years at USC before becoming more of a boundary corner in 2024. But his size and skill set is best suited on the inside. He has the speed to carry speedy slot receivers, has solid change of direction and short-area quickness, and he's a willing run defender.

Jaylin Smith Highlights

Smith also has some experience playing free safety and could contribute on the back end of the secondary off the bench as well. Also, his speed, ability to read the quarterback's eyes and impressive hands to get interceptions would translate to the NFL at safety.

Ad Placeholder

Showing some position versatility in training camp should help improve the USC product's chances of making a 53-man roster as a rookie late-round pick, in addition to his experience playing special teams.

POSITIVES

β€” Good speed with his backpedal and can turn and run to avoid getting beat deep. Good long speed, too.

β€” Good eye discipline in zone coverage and anticipates throws well in zone.

β€” Impressive hands to get interceptions.

Ad Placeholder

β€” Willing run defender who is physical when taking on blocks from wide receivers and is a good tackler, using good pad level and wrapping up.

β€” Has experience playing on the boundary, in the slot and at free safety, offering some positional value.

NEGATIVES

β€” Undersized. Will be viewed as a nickel only by some teams.

β€” Quick to open the gate in press coverage. Doesn't have fluid hips to recover and lacks size to affect wide receivers with a jam. Susceptible to getting beat at the line of scrimmage.

β€” Doesn't recognize rub routes well and will run into picks.

Ad Placeholder

β€” Has rough transitions when playing off-coverage to drive on routes.

β€” Struggles to locate the ball against go routes and back-shoulder throws. Has subpar ball skills and production with only five passes defended in four seasons.

Texans Reportedly 'Sniffing Around' on a Trade Up in 2025 NFL Draft

Paul Kasabian
Apr 22, 2025
NFL Combine Football

The Houston Texans are reportedly "sniffing around" a trade up in the NFL draft, per Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated.

"Speaking of linemen, we have another team that has at least started sniffing around on a trade up, and that’s the Houston Texans," Breer wrote. "It’s no secret that Houston needs offensive line help, and I’d expect the Texans to target strong-character players as they continue to remake that room."

Quarterback C.J. Stroud took 52 sacks last year. Houston would obviously like to keep its franchise cornerstone player off the ground, so the team needs to make some more investments in its offensive line. The Texans also traded left tackle Laremy Tunsil to the Washington Commanders last March, bringing about the need for more help.

Ad Placeholder

As Breer noted, Houston now has three Day 2 picks (Nos. 58, 79 and 89) for a potential trade-up. The Texans are without fourth- and sixth-rounders this year, though.

Houston's top choice is currently No. 25 overall. Per Breer, it's possible the top three offensive linemen available (Will Campbell, Armand Membou and Kelvin Banks Jr.) are gone in the top 10. Breer wrote that may possibly mean "the next group of linemen could get moved up the board a bit."

He then added:

Ad Placeholder

"I could see where that sets up for a short move up, potentially to try to land someone like [Grey Zabel]; or, if they’re feeling froggy and include 2026 picks, maybe a more significant move up for Banks. One player I’ve heard the Texans have done plenty of work on is [Donovan] Jackson. Again, right now, this is just sniffing around. But it’s notable because there aren’t a lot of teams looking to climb in the draft order this year, and Houston has a pretty specific reason to at least explore doing it."

The Texans recently made a seismic move up the 2023 draft, going from 12th to third overall to take edge-rusher Will Anderson Jr. following a trade with the Arizona Cardinals. Houston traded No. 12 overall, No. 33 overall, a 2024 first-rounder and a 2024 third-rounder while getting No. 3 and No. 105 back.

It's clear Texans general manager Nick Caserio isn't afraid of making a big move to take a prospect, and that trade certainly worked out for the team with Anderson earning Defensive Rookie of the Year honors in 2023 and Pro Bowl honors in 2024.

We'll see soon enough what the Texans do with the draft starting Thursday.

Junior Tafuna NFL Draft 2025 Scouting Report for Houston Texans DL

Matt Holder
Apr 22, 2025
NFL Combine Football

The Houston Texans added Utah DL Junior Tafuna as an undrafted free agent after the 2025 NFL draft.

Junior Tafuna has the potential to be a solid backup interior defender in the NFL. He has a good blend of strength and athleticism to contribute in both phases of the game. However, he lacks the high-end talent to project as a starter, as he has significant flaws as both a pass-rusher and run defender.

Overall, Tafuna is a draftable player who can fit as either a 3-technique in even fronts or a 4i-technique in odd fronts as a rotational player. With that said, he is an older prospect at 24 years old, which could make him undraftable for some teams.

Jayden Higgins NFL Draft 2025 Scouting Report for Houston Texans WR

Nicholas Nathanson
Apr 21, 2025
Big 12 Championship Football

The Houston Texns selected Iowa State WR Jayden Higgins with the No. 34 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft.

Jayden Higgins is a tall possession receiver with a skill set built for creating quick separation.

Higgins is a leggy and long-limbed receiver with route salesmanship. He is good at pushing vertically using his entire frame; head down, arms pumping, and high knees to sell the vertical routes. This opens up inside, outside, and underneath route options. Higgins uses shoulder and head fakes to shake defensive backs in off-coverage. He has good short-area quickness for a receiver, and his build allows him to separate quickly in the short and intermediate areas of the defense. His footwork is effective for displacing a DB and opening his route path.

Jayden Higgins Highlights

Higgins's game revolves around tempo, pacing, and leveraging. He stems routes to set up defenders vulnerable at the break point. The way he attacks leverages resembles a veteran receiver. He has a high football IQ and plays all three receiver positions at Iowa State.

Ad Placeholder

Higgins is a talented contested catch receiver and ball tracker. He is savvy; staying patient and calm as the football is descending. His hands are soft and reliable to pluck the ball away from his frame. Higgins has excelled in contested catch situations his entire collegiate career. He is a good red-zone threat because of his height, wingspan, and timing. Tracks the ball calmly and poise while flashing late hands to make the catch.

Ad Placeholder

Athleticism is where Higgins will not meet some NFL team standards. He lacks the explosiveness and twitch to threaten press-aligned defensive backs. To compound, Higgins's release package is slim. He does not have a wide variance of counters to handsy corners in the contact window. Higgins gets stuck fighting through contact before getting into his route. Due to his lack of straight-line speed could result in him being pigeonholed as a power slot. If he cannot consistently win on the outside and will need a two-way release point to succeed.

In conclusion, Jayden Higgins is a possession receiver who can align at the X, Z, and slot positions. Expectations would place him in the WR3/4 role with opportunities to climb the depth chart. His quick route-running abilities will fit well in a West Coast offensive system.

POSITIVES

β€” High football IQ; can play all three wide receiver positions.

β€” Soft and reliable hands, rarely drops passes.

β€” Winning contested catches with body position, late hands, and ball tracking.

NEGATIVES

Eli Cox NFL Draft 2025 Scouting Report for Houston Texans IOL

Alex Kay
Apr 21, 2025
NFL Combine Football

The Houston Texans added Kentucky IOL Eli Cox as an undrafted free agent after the 2025 NFL draft.

Eli Cox is a four-year starting center and right guard under four different offensive coordinators and line coaches including 12 starts in 2024 inside Kentucky's run-heavy (59-41 run-pass split), zone-based run scheme with gap principles sprinkled in. Cox has a sawed off frame with a well-rounded, lean build, good athletic ability, solid play strength and adequate power.

Cox wins as a run blocker with a firm grasp of the play's intent, solid play strength, good athletic ability and tight hand placement that gets him into his fits balanced and under control before running his feet to dig out opponents. He does a nice job with spacing and timing on combinations to minimize penetration with the burst to intersect backers on his climb. He also strains and is a persistent, high-effort finisher that allow him to dump leaning defenders once or twice a game. Cox's middling arm length and power can lead to him getting initially compressed on solo drive blocks while his short strike radius gets him edged when his placement and timing aren't perfect against slants and gap exchanges.

Eli Cox Highlights

In pass protection Cox is a heads up, alert presence with crafty hand-fighting skills and enough play strength to die slowly in his anchor when he wins initial leverage. He will get gradually walked back and pried open when isolated against power down the middle and give up his edges quickly against sub-package rushers crossing his face.

Ad Placeholder

Overall, Cox is a sawed off, experienced center prospect with middling power but proven versatility in his background at both guard spots in several schemes with good athletic ability and enough play strength to eventually carve out a role inside a zone-based run scheme.

SHUTTLE: 4.58

VERTICAL: 32.5"

BROAD: 9'1"

POSITIVES

β€” Efficient mover with good quickness and agility.

β€” Solid play strength with tight hand placement and good strain to frame up and dig out opponents in the post, on overtakes and angle-drive blocks.

Ad Placeholder

β€” Fluidly negotiates spacing and positioning on combinations to stay attached, release and intersect backers on climbs.

β€” Understands spacing and depth in pass protection to overlap guards on slides to cover gaps, diagnose loopers and sort games.

β€” Plays with good natural leverage and active, independent hands in pass protection to strike, latch and keep his head out of the block

β€” Brings renowned work ethic, leadership skills and extensive experience across the interior

NEGATIVES

β€” Sawed off frame with below average power leads to him getting compressed, pried open and edged when isolated.

β€” Struggles to strike, press and widen defenders off of his edges, leaving him vulnerable to getting slipped across his face.

β€” Older prospect who turns 25-years old during the 2025 season.

Woody Marks NFL Draft 2025 Scouting Report for Houston Texans RB

Alex Kay
Apr 21, 2025
USC LSU Football

The Houston Texans selected USC RB Woody Marks with the No. 116 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft.

Woody Marks is a savvy and dynamic playmaker with the ball.

Marks is a patient runner who follows his blockers and remains disciplined in following the designed run path. He will hesitate and/or skip steps to buy time for his offensive line to engage and create running lanes. He is adept at patiently navigating congested areas with hyperactive footwork and vision. Marks is a dynamic mover with a good short-area burst that allows him to explode through open lanes. Once into the second level of the defense, he quickly reaches top speed to gash the defense for explosive gains.

Woody Marks Highlights

He is a twitchy and fluid mover who can chain together evasive cuts in space. Marks is elusive and sudden, and he can make sharp changes of direction as he cuts downhill.

Marks is a weapon in the passing game. He runs multiple routes and has soft hands. He is experienced in catching the football out of the backfieldβ€”he has 257 receptions over his career. He is a dynamic dual-threat playmaker and creates mismatches against linebackers in coverage.

Ad Placeholder

Marks is not an ideal three-down running back. While he brings good value to the passing game in space, he is not a good pass protector in the pocket. It is not a lack of effort but play strength and technique. He doesn't use his hands to latch onto the defender upon contact. Marks will duck his head to initiate contact with a free-running defender. He is better utilized as a chip and release than an anchor against pressure.

Marks lacks contact balance and play strength. He runs hard and behind his pads but does not have the strength to power through head-on defenders.

In conclusion, Woody Marks is an RB2 who will change the pace and be a valuable passing asset. With his shiftiness and cutting ability, Marks will bring playmaking in space to an NFL offense. Expect Marks to make dynamic plays with the football.

Aireontae Ersery NFL Draft 2025 Scouting Report for Houston Texans OT

Nicholas Nathanson
Apr 20, 2025
Penn St Minnesota Football

The Houston Texans selected Minnesota OT Aireontae Ersery with the No. 48 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft.

Aireronte Ersery is a three-year starter at left tackle inside Minnesota's balanced, zone-based run scheme. Ersery has a well-rounded, lean build with long limbs, good play strength and solid athletic ability.

Ersery is a well-versed zone run blocker with good pace and feel on combo blocks to get into proper fits, overtake and release on time. He shows solid athletic ability to gain ground laterally to cut off the backside, line up backers on climbs and pulls around the edge. Ersery shows good competitive toughness and physicality as a finisher to strain and set the tone. He will get over-aggressive, two-hand strike and overextend on kick-out blocks that stutters and slants across his face can slip by with ease.

Aireontae Ersery Highlights

In pass protection Ersery has good footwork in his sets to work at a 45-degree angle, get vertical and expand his set points against upfield, high-side rushes and power step with an effective 'catch' hand to close the door on inside counters. Ersery quickly sorts basic line games and stunts with proper spacing and timing. He also flashes the snatch-trap technique to defeat the long-arm and circle punch technique to work around swipes/chops to the outside. While Ersery can defeat outside swipes/cross-chops, he can be late with his strike and is susceptible to being set up and baited by tempo, stutters and hesitations that creates a short corner.

Overall, Ersery is a long, tactful blocker with good play strength, competitive toughness, and enough athletic ability to stick at tackle in the NFL. However, his upright playing style and average recovery skills likely cap his ceiling as a middle-of-the-pack starter.

POSITIVES

β€” Does a nice job in his angled, 45-degree set working vertically and expanding his set points against high-side rushes.

Ad Placeholder

β€” Has good arm length with a stiff, powerful punch to stun and keep rushers at his fingertips.

β€” Carries a low, active inside hand to 'catch' and close off inside counters.

β€” Clear eyes and good spatial awareness to handle basic line games and stunts.

β€” Shows solid athletic ability and burst to pull, lead and line up backers on the move.

β€” Proficient zone run blocker with a firm understanding of the play's intent to work combos with proper timing, feel and pace.

NEGATIVES

Ad Placeholder

β€” Tardy strike timing leaves him vulnerable to getting edged quickly against swipes and chops and caught off guard against speed to power.

β€” Susceptible to take the bait and get set up against stutters and hesitations, creating a soft outside shoulder and short corner.

β€” Has a tendency of two-hand striking, dropping his eyes and lunging into contact on angle-drive blocks that can get him beat across his face.

β€” Upright playing style saps some of his leverage and ability to sustain power late in the rep.
