Dana White's UFC 113 video blog - Part 2 - And the coaches are

May 8, 2010

*Please visit FiveKnuckles.com for more mixed martial arts media*

In Dana White's second UFC 113 video blog, he announces the coaches of The Ultimate Fighter 12. Georges St. Pierre was on hand in Montreal to be welcomed into coaching territory, while the other coach will be the winner of Josh Koscheck vs. Paul Daley.

Not only will Koscheck or Daley be granted a spot on TUF 12, but he will also pick up a title shot in the process. At the end of season 12, the two coaches will battle it out in, ultimately, a title fight. This fight will most likely take place in the fall of 2010, although no official announcement has been made as of yet.

This vlog gives fans a view of the weigh-ins from the stage, slightly behind White. Three things will be remembered from this weigh in:

1) The hostile Kimbo Slice vs. Matt Mitrione stare down,
2) White wearing a "Korean Zombie" shirt, and
3) Tom Lawlor's entrance as Dan Severn.

Dana White on Jake Shields: "We want him."

May 5, 2010

*Please visit FiveKnuckles.com for more mixed martial arts media*

UFC President Dana White has made it clear: he wants Jake Shields in the UFC.

While the Strikeforce middleweight champion is now at the end of his contract, White is looking to make him a deal so that he does not renew his current one.

"We want him," White told Versus at WEC 48. "His contract is up in - whatever it is - 60 days, 40 days, I've heard lots of different things. As soon as his contract's over, he's gonna call me. If Strikeforce wants to keep him, they're gonna have to pay him an ass-load of money."

White said that Strikeforce disrespected Shields, setting him up for a loss when they put him against Dan Henderson in his last fight under the current contract. Only problem was: Shields beat Henderson. Then, White said, they threw Jason Miller in the cage to ask for a rematch, hopefully pushing Shields to stay with Strikeforce should he choose to defend his belt.

Even though Shields is with a different organization, he and White are no stranger to one another.

"I think Jake Shields is a great guy," said White. "He came in as an assistant coach on The Ultimate Fighter. Couldn't be a nicer kid, I've always liked him."

To catch glimpses of Shields during TUF 11, tune into Spike TV on Wednesday nights at 10 p.m.

Week 6 Arena Football League Power Poll – May 4th 2010

May 4, 2010
The AFL betting season enters its sixth week of play this week with a full slate of games. Check out how we’re ranking the clubs through the first two weeks of the season!

1: Chicago Rush (4-0 SU, 2-1-1 ATS) (LW: 1) – And then there was one undefeated team left in the AFL. The Rush, thanks to a bye week, watched the Iron lose their first game of the year this week to take over as the only unbeaten left in the league this season. That said; guess where the boys from the Windy City are headed this week…
Up Next: Away @ Milwaukee

2: Milwaukee Iron (3-1 SU, 3-1 ATS) (LW: 2) - Milwaukee might not be undefeated any longer, but it is still worthy of being the #2 team in the AFL Power Poll this week. The Iron fell victim to a surging Alabama team on the road, but they should be revved up to take back over first place in the National Conference with an AFL betting showdown with the Rush this week.
Up Next: Home vs. Chicago

3: Alabama Vipers (3-1 SU, 3-1 ATS) (LW: 7) – Let’s give it up for the Vipers, who handed Milwaukee its first loss of the season in a game that many thought they had no chance in. HC Dean Cokinos is an early frontrunner for Coach of the Year honors. A very stern road test awaits this week, though.
Up Next: Away @ Tulsa

4: Jacksonville Sharks (3-1 SU, 2-2 ATS) (LW: 8 ) – Teams have had a miserable time coming into the Shark Tank this year, as Jacksonville has really put the clamps on its foes thanks to one of the best home field advantages in the league. It took a touchdown pass from QB Aaron Garcia right at the buzzer, but the Sharks got the job done and moved to 3-1 on the year.
Up Next: Away @ Tampa Bay

5: Tulsa Talons (2-2 SU, 4-0 ATS) (LW: 3) – Poor Tulsa! For the second straight week, the Talons were bested with 0:00 showing on the clock. This time, it was Jacksonville that did the deed. Tulsa has proven that it can play both home and away, but my, will it be nice to return back to the BOK Center this week.
Up Next: Home vs. Alabama

6: Tampa Bay Storm (2-2 SU, 1-3 ATS) (LW: 9) – Tampa Bay needed to avoid Arizona converting a two point conversion with just seconds remaining on the clock to pick up a victory, and the Storm did just that, winning 62-61 on Saturday night to give HC Tim Marcum his 200th career win in this league.
Up Next: Home vs. Jacksonville

And the rest…
7: Arizona Rattlers (2-2 SU, 2-2 ATS) (LW: 6)
8: Spokane Shock (2-2 SU, 1-3 ATS) (LW: 4)
9: Dallas Vigilantes (1-2 SU, 1-2 ATS) (LW: 11)
10: Iowa Barnstormers (2-2 SU, 2-2 ATS) (LW: 10)
11: Bossier City Battle Wings (2-2 SU, 3-1 ATS) (LW: 5)
12: Cleveland Gladiators (1-3 SU, 2-2 ATS) (LW: 12)
13: Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz (1-3 SU, 1-3 ATS) (LW: 13)
14: Utah Blaze (1-2 SU, 1-2 ATS) (LW: 15)
15: Orlando Predators (0-3 SU, 0-3 ATS) (LW: 14)

Rampage is running his legs and running his mouth

May 4, 2010

*Please visit FiveKnuckles.com for more mixed martial arts media*

For those who think Quinton Jackson is out of shape after filming "The A-Team" remake, think again.

"I just ran 5 miles for the 1st time since I wrestled in college. I'm in the best shape of my fighting career!!" Rampage wrote on his Twitter account earlier today, letting his fans know that he's taking his UFC 114 fight against Rashad Evans seriously.

Speculation has risen on account of film production photos that showed Rampage overweight - or at least bigger that how fans are used to seeing him. How big of a weight cut will he need to make? Will he start his training camp early? Slowly, Rampage is getting back in shape, and has been seen working out with fellow Wolfslair fighter Tiki Ghosn since late February and early March.

Since Rampage famously retired from MMA, only to come back to finish out his contract, some are questioning his heart and dedication. But facing Evans seems to be refueling his passion to compete.

"Since [Evans] wants to go all childish.........," Rampage wrote hours ago, "[Evans] mama so fat he bought her a UFC shirt & even [Dana White] thought it stood for ugly fat chick!!"

The two TUF 10 coaches love to ridicule each other - and they've battled over Twitter before, too. In The Ultimate Fighter house and gym, the former light-heavyweight champions were in each other's faces for the majority of the season, and fans, sometimes, tuned in to see their verbal fights rather than the competitor's physical fights.

On May 29, Jackson and Evans will finally settle their score inside the Octagon at UFC 114 in Las Vegas, NV. Expect a knockout.

2010 Kentucky Derby Odds, Post Positions and Contenders: May 1st 2010

2010 KENTUCKY DERBY ODDS POST POSITIONS CONTENDERS2010 Kentucky Derby
Every year since 1875, the most coveted horse race in the World is run on the first Saturday of May at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. Restricted to three-year-olds and run at the distance of one mile and one quarter (miles), this race has been labeled “The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports.” It’s the first leg in the United States Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing or the “first jewel,” and many call it “the Run for the Roses” because of the blanket of roses awarded to the winning horse.

On May 1st, twenty of the top three-year-old horses in the World will compete for the most prestigious crown in thoroughbred racing. Fans will pack into both the grandstand and general admission of the infield to bear witness to the celebration of the Kentucky Derby in all its splendor. Society’s elite will be seen mingling with the “who’s who” in the executive box seats or “Millionaire’s Row.” Women will be seen with extravagant hats, the bigger the better as the tradition goes. The official drink of the Kentucky Derby called the “Mint Julep” will be served in souvenir glasses displaying all prior winners of this historic race.

As the “King of the Big Races,” ATS has made a fortune for thousands of clients and our information has always been top notch. Although we are prolific at all kinds of sports investments, our roots are actually in horse racing. Simply put, we know how to spot a winning horse, especially in the Derby. And thanks to this expertise in horse racing, we’ve nailed several derbies over the last two decades.

Approximately 15 minutes prior to Post Time – the start of the race – the University of Louisville Marching Band will begin to play “My Old Kentucky Home,” signifying the introduction of the race entrants. This is known as the “Post Parade.” Let’s also take a look at the horses that are in the “Post Parade” and let ATS help you choose a winner.

The Kentucky Derby is always a great betting race. With twenty horses to choose from and all with Graded Stakes Earnings, there’s an angle for ever single horse. And no horse should ever be ignored.

Last year, Mine that Bird won the Kentucky Derby handily and then went on to win Preakness. No one saw him coming—on paper, on backside, or on the track. Is there another Mine that Bird in the field this year? Nobody knows. But everyone has an opinion. And that’s why the Kentucky Derby is so exciting—anything can happen!

Remember, to win the Kentucky Derby, a horse must triumph over tough competition from a large field, as the best horses in the world converge at Churchhill Downs. It takes a trained, veteran eye to determine where the value lies in the field, and to detect which horses are primed to deliver. Here at ATS, we’ve been preparing for this race since the Breeders Cup six months ago! We’ve scrutinized every key race, including but not limited to the Wood Memorial, Blue Grass Stakes, Florida Derby and the Santa Anita Derby! So when Derby Day finally gets here, we’re ready!

So let ATS make it happen for you! Give us a call today at 1-800-772-1287 and find out who the winner is. Good luck and enjoy!

Week 5 Arena Football League Power Poll – April 27th 2010

Apr 27, 2010

The AFL betting season enters its fifth week of play this week with a full slate of games. Check out how we’re ranking the clubs through the first two weeks of the season!

1: Chicago Rush (4-0 SU, 2-1-1 ATS) (LW: 1) – The Rush have really been on a roll, continuing to pummel each of their opponents. The Blaze never stood a chance against them this week in the Windy City, as Chicago notched its third double digit victory of the year. No one wants to get in this team’s way right now.
Up Next: Bye

2: Milwaukee Iron (3-0 SU, 3-0 ATS) (LW: 3) - Milwaukee trailed Tampa Bay by 10 points in the third quarter, but it turned the jets on for three straight touchdowns to put the Storm in the dust. The Iron may have the scariest offense in the league, averaging 70.3 points per game.
Up Next: Away @ Alabama

3: Tulsa Talons (2-1 SU, 3-0 ATS) (LW: 2) – We’re not going to punish Tulsa much for losing in the dying seconds to the Rattlers on the road. The Talons have by far played the hardest schedule in the league to date, and they’ve got another tough roadie in the Sunshine State this week.
Up Next: Away @ Jacksonville

4: Spokane Shock (2-1 SU, 1-2 ATS) (LW: 4) - The Shock hold firm at #4 in the AFL power poll this week after enjoying their first of two bye weeks. Spokane’s next four foes have combined to win just two games this year.
Up Next: Home vs. Cleveland

5: Bossier City Battle Wings (2-1 SU, 3-0 ATS) (LW: 5) - Bossier City is another one of these teams that has a cupcake schedule in the coming weeks that should improve its playoff positioning. Not only is winless Utah on deck, but Oklahoma City waits after that. These are both road games though, and the Battle Wings have yet to prove that they can win away from Shreveport this year.
Up Next: Away @ Utah

6: Arizona Rattlers (2-1 SU, 1-2 ATS) (LW: 9) - The Rattlers needed every last second on the clock, but QB Nick Davila threw the game winning touchdown pass as time expired on Friday night against Tulsa. The Talons stuck in front of the narrow spread, but no one in Arizona is going to mind. The Rattlers have two more very tough games coming up, starting with a trip to the St. Pete Times Forum this weekend.
Up Next: Away @ Tampa Bay

And the rest…
 7: Alabama Vipers (2-1 SU, 2-1 ATS) (LW: 6)
8: Jacksonville Sharks (2-1 SU, 2-1 ATS) (LW: 8 )
9: Tampa Bay Storm (1-2 SU, 1-2 ATS) (LW: 7)
10: Iowa Barnstormers (1-2 SU, 1-2 ATS) (LW: 12)
11: Dallas Vigilantes (0-2 SU, 0-2 ATS) (LW: 10)
12: Cleveland Gladiators (0-3 SU, 1-2 ATS) (LW: 13)
13: Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz (1-2 SU, 1-2 ATS) (LW: 11)
14: Orlando Predators (0-2 SU, 0-2 ATS) (LW: 13)
15: Utah Blaze (0-3 SU, 1-2 ATS) (LW: 15)

Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz vs. Iowa Barnstormers (Week 4 Preview from Mike Rose)
Bet: Click here to bet on this game | Odds: Click here for current odds

Arena Football betting action continues on Saturday night from “The Well” in Des Moines, where the Iowa Barnstormers (0-2, 0-2 ATS) will welcome the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz (1-1, 1-1 ATS) to town. This is an intra-conference clash, as the Yard Dawgz enter this game one behind the Tulsa Talons for the top spot in the American Conference, while Iowa is 2.5 games in the rear of the Chicago Rush, who lead the National Conference at 3-0.

The Yard Dawgz were getting no respect from the oddsmakers in Week 3, as they were sizeable home underdogs against the winless Cleveland Gladiators. They faced a 31-28 deficit at halftime, but stormed to a 63-50 win courtesy of a huge second half. QB Tommy Grady, playing in his second ever AFL game, went 20/33 for 276 yards and four touchdowns. By Arena League standards, those numbers are pedestrian, but he only turned the ball over one time (on a fumble), which is the most important stat in the game. FB Al Hunt rushed for three touchdowns in spite of the fact that his longest carry of the day was just one yard and he totaled -1 yard for the game. HC Sparky McEwen won his first AFL contest since being dismissed as the head coach of the now defunct Grand Rapids Rampage three years ago.

There aren’t many teams that can say that they’ve made more mistakes through two games than the Barnstormers can. They have yet to lead in a game this season, and they have turned the pigskin over a whopping nine times in two games. If Iowa cuts down on its turnovers, it may stand a chance of competing in this league, as the defense, in spite of the fact that it has allowed 60+ points in both of its games, is actually not failing miserably. The unit has forced four turnovers itself, and averaging two turnovers per game in this league should win you quite a few games. QB Ryan Vena handed the ball to the Milwaukee Iron three times in Week 3, and the end result was a very disappointing 65-48 loss at the Bradley Center.

Oklahoma City opened up this week as XX point favorites, and have moved to -XX at the publication of this article.

MLB Picks and Baseball Betting Predictions for April 19th 2010

Apr 19, 2010

Below are free MLB Picks and baseball betting predictions for April 19th 2010 from Touthouse.com handicappers. If you are looking for free MLB baseball picks on a daily basis or premium picks from our MLB baseball betting experts visit Touthouse.com each day.

Free MLB Pick: San Francisco Giants -123 (Jeff Alexander)
San Diego is playing well, but it has its work cut out for itself against one of the best young right handers in the game tonight. Cain has especially been sharp when taking the mound following a team loss in the Giants’ previous game. In fact, the Giants are 17-5 in Cain’s last 22 starts following a team loss in their previous game. And as a team, the Giants are 6-0 in their last 6 games following a loss. The Giants are also 7-1 in their last 8 games as a favorite. Take the Giants at a solid price tonight.

Free MLB Pick: Colorado Rockies -147 (Jimmy Boyd)
I know Washington has been playing pretty well, winning 3 of its last 4, but I’ll back the better team with the better pitcher on the mound at a decent price tonight. The Nationals are a team that the Rockies have completely owned. In fact, Colorado has won 22 of the last 28 meetings, including 6 in a row at Washington. Washington is one of the worst bounce back teams in the bigs. The Nats are just 34-74 after a loss over the last 2 seasons. Looking back further, they are just 41-108 in their last 149 games following a loss. The Nats are also awful in the first game of a series. In fact, they are 14-44 in their last 58 during game 1 of a series. The Rockies are 7-3 in Aaron Cook’s last 10 road starts and 5-1 in his last 6 starts during game 1 of a series. The Nats’ Craig Stammen is off to a rocky start with an ERA of 15.64 this season. Cash in with Colorado.

Chuck Liddell vs. Rich Franklin official for UFC 115

Apr 12, 2010

*Please visit FiveKnuckles.com for more mixed martial arts media*

The rumors were true. Moments ago, the UFC announced that former light-heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell and former middleweight champion Rich Franklin will headline the UFC 115 event.

Initially Tito Ortiz was supposed to face Liddell, as the two are currently taking part in The Ultimate Fighter 11. However, for the past month, rumors have been swirling about Ortiz's health. Reports have shown that he did not finish filming TUF 11, and that Franklin stepped in to finish out the season.

When reports were swirling about Ortiz's health, he tweeted about being in the hospital, but his hospital visit had nothing to do with any illness or problem with his spine and skull - as the rumors said. Ortiz tweeted that he simply had a bout of flu. The doctors had been skeptical of the swine flu, and kept Ortiz, but Ortiz revealed that it was just a case of the regular flu, not the H1N1 virus.

However, now that Ortiz is feeling better, we have not heard much from the UFC surrounding the Liddell/Franklin/Ortiz triangle. Many were irritated that the UFC failed to comment about Franklin's involvement with TUF and a potential fight with Liddell. Even just less than a week ago, UFC President Dana White told reporters that the headlining fight would be between Liddell and Ortiz.

A few weeks ago, a photo was anonymously sent to a MMABay, showing Liddell's and Franklin's photo hanging on The Ultimate Fight gym wall. However, Franklin's picture did not look new, and the anonymous picture was never verified.

But now, fans have their answer. While there is no new word about Ortiz, and whether he will fight in the near future, UFC 115 is set for June 12 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Ticket pre-sale starts tomorrow, regular tickets go on sale beginning Thursday.
