Don't expect to see Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett in any more Pro Bowl competitions.

The Cleveland Browns pass-rusher told reporters Tuesday he is "retired" from the event after he suffered a dislocated right big toe in February when participating in an obstacle course race against Carolina Panthers defensive end Brian Burns.

"Run-away-from-the-cops obstacle course," Garrett said. "Jumping over walls and fences. Doesn't make sense to me."

The Texas A&M product is accustomed to playing through pain after he suffered a shoulder sprain as a result of a car crash last season.

That is no longer an issue, though he said the toe injury—that did not require surgery—is still "nagging" at him.

"It's been getting better, little by little and, honestly, I got more beef with the Pro Bowl and messing up my toe than I do with the shoulder right now," Garrett said. "I think the shoulder will be just fine."

"The toe is the most nagging thing trying to get out there, do agility, run and plant, stuff that I can do, but it's just nagging stuff. It's just frustrating. But by the time season rolls around, I don't think any of that will be an issue."

Having him healthy by the time the season begins will be key for the Browns.

Garrett is one of the best defensive players in the NFL as a four-time Pro Bowler and two-time First Team All-Pro selection. He has lived up to the sky-high expectations that were put in place when Cleveland selected him No. 1 overall in the 2017 NFL draft and posted double-digit sack totals in each of the last five seasons.

That stretch includes 16 sacks in 2021 and again in 2022, as he seems to be improving with every passing year.

More Pro Bowl selections will come if that pattern continues, but his days of running in obstacle courses just because he's an NFL All-Star are over.

Myles Garrett Deletes Comment About Recruiting Odell Beckham Jr. Back to Browns

Browns fans want to see Odell Beckham Jr. back in Cleveland, and the possibility of him suiting up in the orange and brown again hasn't been ruled out.

Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reported Sunday that the Browns wouldn't hesitate to sign the veteran wide receiver "if the price is right," and it appears one of his former teammates is trying to recruit him.

Per several reports, a fan asked four-time Pro Bowl defensive end Myles Garrett to help get Beckham to sign with the Browns in free agency. He responded via a since-deleted Instagram post that he's "working on it."

Beckham played for the Browns from 2019 until he was released during the 2021 season amid a rift between himself and former Cleveland quarterback Baker Mayfield. In 29 games with the Browns, Beckham caught 114 passes for 1,586 yards and seven touchdowns.

If the 30-year-old were to return to Cleveland, he would be a top target for Deshaun Watson alongside Amari Cooper and the newly acquired Elijah Moore, who was reportedly traded to the Browns on Wednesday from the New York Jets.

However, Beckham has several suitors in free agency, including the Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots, and it's unclear if he has the Browns atop his wish list.

Browns' Myles Garrett Won't Need Surgery on Dislocated Toe Injury from Pro Bowl

Cleveland Browns pass-rusher Myles Garrett reportedly received good news regarding the dislocated toe he suffered during the Pro Bowl Games.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Garrett will not need surgery and faces a "short recovery time" after the toe "popped right back into place."

Garrett said Tuesday on Twitter, "We are all good over here."

When Garrett suffered the injury and limped off the field during the Pro Bowl Games, it stood out since the NFL changed the format from a game with live tackling to a series of competitions in part to make it safer for players.

Fears of a significant setback seem to have been quelled by the update, though.

That is welcome news for the Browns considering how dominant the Texas A&M product has been since they selected him with the No. 1 overall pick of the 2017 NFL draft. The four-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro selection has reached double-digit sack totals in each of the last five seasons.

He has also been durable, missing just one game over the last two years.

Garrett appeared in 16 games this season and tallied 60 tackles, 16 sacks, four passes defended and two forced fumbles as a bright spot for the 7-10 Browns, who finished in last place in the AFC North.

The pass-rusher is under contract through 2026, so he figures to anchor Cleveland's defensive line for years to come. It doesn't seem like this toe injury will be an issue as he does that in 2023.

Report: Browns' Myles Garrett Suffered Dislocated Toe Injury During Pro Bowl Games

The removal of the actual game with live tackling figured to cut down on the injury risk at the Pro Bowl, but that was not the case for Cleveland Browns pass-rusher Myles Garrett on Sunday.

Garrett suffered a dislocated toe while he competed in the Pro Bowl Games, although X-rays were negative, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

The 27-year-old was seen limping off the field in a scene that was surely worrisome for the Browns and their fans.

The one silver lining is the fact there is plenty of recovery time until next season. Garrett has been fairly durable throughout his career and appeared in 16 games this season, missing just one contest after he was in a car crash.

He played all 17 games last season and has never appeared in fewer than 10 games since he was the No. 1 overall pick of the 2017 NFL draft.

Garrett's injury cut short his experience at his fourth career Pro Bowl and third consecutive one. He posted 60 tackles, 16 sacks, four passes defended and two forced fumbles for the 7-10 Browns this season.

The Texas A&M product will look to build on five straight years of double-digit sack totals during the 2023 campaign.

As for the Pro Bowl Games, the league removed the traditional game between the AFC and NFC in exchange for a series of skills competitions that started Thursday night and included dodgeball, long drive, best catch and precision passing.

The event will conclude with three flag football games on Sunday, and there is a cumulative scoring system that accounts for every competition throughout the weekend in Las Vegas.

Jadeveon Clowney Apologizes to Myles Garrett for Comments on Browns' Favoritism

Cleveland Browns defensive end Jadeveon Clowney apologized to teammate Myles Garrett on Friday for comments he made last week about the Browns caring more about Garrett's stats than winning.

ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted a statement from Clowney in which he apologized and claimed his comments were taken out of context:

Speaking last week to Cleveland.com (h/t ESPN's Jake Trotter), Clowney said he was "95 percent sure" he would not re-sign with the Browns during the offseason, and went on to question the organization's priorities:

"You're all trying to get [Garrett] into the Hall of Fame instead of winning games. I don't even think [Garrett] notices. I ain't trying to say it's him. I try to get along with everybody I play with. Me and him don't have a problem. It ain't his fault, and it's B.S., and I don't have time for it."

Clowney was sent home from practice and was inactive for Cleveland's season-closing loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Clowney, who was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft by the Houston Texans, has bounced around regularly in recent years, playing for four different teams over the past five seasons.

The 2022 campaign was his second in Cleveland, making the Browns only the second team he has played with for more than one season, along with the Texans.

Clowney's first season with the Browns was highly productive, as the presence of Garrett helped him register nine sacks, tying the second-highest total of his career.

This season was more of a challenge for the three-time Pro Bowler, as he missed five games and finished with only 28 tackles and two sacks.

Meanwhile, Garrett earned a third consecutive Pro Bowl nod, plus he tied his career high with 16 sacks, while adding a career-high 60 tackles and 18 tackles for loss.

To Clowney's original point, the Browns have missed the playoffs in each of the past two seasons despite Garrett putting up the best numbers of his career.

This season, the Browns went 7-10, and while it can be argued that quarterback Deshaun Watson being suspended for the first 11 games of the season played a role, he didn't perform particularly well after returning and was outplayed by Jacoby Brissett overall.

The 2023 season could be a critical one for the Browns franchise, as a slow start or missing the playoffs again would likely spell the end of Kevin Stefanski's tenure as head coach.

Most of Cleveland's key players are in line to return next season, but despite his attempts to make good, it is difficult to envision Clowney being back in the fold.

Browns' Myles Garrett Says Benching in Week 16 Loss Was 'Misunderstanding'

Cleveland Browns star edge-rusher Myles Garrett told reporters on Friday that head coach Kevin Stefanski's decision to keep him on the sidelines for the first series of Saturday's game against the New Orleans Saints stemmed from a "misunderstanding."

"I was sick and I didn't communicate well enough," he continued. "That's how it went down. Got to respect how [Stefanski] feels about the situation and his judgment."

Garrett, who missed multiple practices during the week due to an illness, added that being benched to start a game wasn't a great look on his part.

"It's just a bad look for a starter just in general," he told reporters. "So just don't put myself in that situation again."

Stefanski said the situation is in the past.

"He's done a nice job [this week]," he said. "Been good."

When he's been on the field, the 27-year-old Garrett has been superb, registering 45 tackles (15 for loss), 13.5 sacks, 22 quarterback hits, four passes defensed and two forced fumbles in 14 games. That earned him his fourth Pro Bowl selection.

It's been a bit of an odd year for both Garrett and the disappointing Browns (6-9), however. Garrett missed an early October game against the Atlanta Falcons after crashing and flipping his car on Sept. 26, though he managed to avoid serious injury.

The Browns, meanwhile, struggled to a 4-7 start under Jacoby Brissett while Deshaun Watson was suspended. Since Watson's return to the starting lineup, the team has gone 2-2, though Sunday's 17-10 loss against the Saints officially eliminated them from postseason contention.

"We're trying to figure it out all together and right now we don't really have the recipe to get wins consistently as we'd like," Garrett said. "But I think most of the pieces are here and we just have to tighten a couple of screws."

Browns' Myles Garrett Discuss Shoulder Injury, Rules Out Surgery 'Right Now'

Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett aggravated his shoulder injury in Sunday's 23-17 overtime win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

"I don't know. I hope not," Garrett said after the game regarding possible surgery. "Right now, I'm not getting surgery. I'm doing what I can as far as being in the training room, working with different doctors on my team to make sure that I'm able to play through this."

The 26-year-old pass-rusher is in the midst of his sixth NFL season, and he has been productive in 2022, recording 8.5 sacks, 27 tackles and two forced fumbles through his first nine games.

Garrett has already missed some time this season, as he was involved in a single-car accident leading up to the Browns' Week 4 game against the Atlanta Falcons. He suffered a sprained shoulder and strained biceps and was held out of the Atlanta game.

When healthy, Garrett has been a dominant force ever since the Browns made him the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft.

Entering the 2022 campaign, Garrett was a three-time Pro Bowler and two-time first-team All-Pro, plus he had registered double-digit sacks in four consecutive seasons from 2018 through 2021.

Last season was a career year for Garrett, as he set career highs essentially across the board with 16 sacks, 51 tackles, 17 tackles for loss and 33 quarterback hits.

Garrett is one of a handful of game-changing defensive ends in the NFL, and there is no question that the Cleveland defense is exponentially easier to play against when he is out.

There is no other player on the defense who gets after the quarterback with as much consistency and ferocity as he does, and if he misses time, opposing offenses won't necessarily have to double-team anyone.
