Will Levis Trade Hasn't Been Discussed With Teams Despite NFL Rumors, Titans Exec Says

Zach Bachar
Mar 30, 2025
Jacksonville Jaguars v Tennessee Titans

Tennessee Titans president of football operations Chad Brinker confirmed that the team hasn't held any trade conversations regarding quarterback Will Levis.

"That's a false report," Brinker said on Sunday, via Jim Wyatt of the team's official website. "We have not contacted anybody, and nobody has contacted us, about Will Levis. I don't think anything has changed from the time somebody asked me about this a month ago."

"What's the plan with Will Levis? The plan with Will Levis is he has a chance to compete for a starting job next year," he added. "And that's like every player that's on our roster. It's no different for Will. I see him in our facility, he's working hard. Everybody knows he's a great kid, he's a hard worker and he's going to give it everything he has. And we're going to continue to work with Will Levis."

NFL insider Josina Anderson reported on March 18 that Levis' name had come up "in recent preliminary trade inquiries or internal discussions."

The 25-year-old still has two more years remaining on his rookie contract.

Tennessee selected Levis with a second-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft, showing encouraging signs as a rookie before struggling throughout his 2024 campaign.

In 12 starts last season, he completed 63.1 percent of his throws for 2,091 yards and 13 touchdowns compared to 12 interceptions. The Titans owned a 2-10 record in Levis' 12 appearances and he was benched during a Week 15 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Tennessee finished its 2024 season at 3-14, securing the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 draft.

Miami quarterback Cam Ward could be the Titans' choice at No. 1, with Joe Rexrode of The Athletic reporting that they "grew enamored" with Ward in a predraft meeting.

Tennessee was also projected to select Ward in the latest mock draft from Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department.

Even if the Titans draft the Hurricanes' signal-caller, they may want to keep Levis on their roster in case Ward isn't ready to start right away.

"For us heading into this camp, we at least want three quarterbacks, preferably four if we can," Brinker said, via Wyatt. "Depending on what we do in this draft, if we go quarterback (we'd have four), or we go another position, at least we'd have three quarterbacks."

Brandon Allen and Tim Boyle are the only other quarterbacks on Tennessee's roster, although they own a record of just 2-13 in 15 combined starts throughout their respective careers.

Levis' long-term future on the Titans is murky, but the front office doesn't appear to be actively exploring trades for him.

Titans Reportedly 'Pretty Sold on' Cam Ward But 'Not a Slam Dunk' to be Drafted No. 1

Miami v Georgia Tech

Miami quarterback Cam Ward continues to be the consensus choice for the Tennessee Titans with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

Fowler reported Sunday on SportsCenter there's "momentum around the league that he'll be the No. 1 pick, not a slam dunk."

"The Tennessee Titans descended upon the Miami area at noon on Friday," the NFL insider said. "They had the whole cavalry, GM, president, assistant general manager, head coach, offensive coordinator, all to workout Cam Ward. And I was told they really did it only because they can and it's part of the process, but they've seen him throw a lot. They're already pretty sold on him."

Earlier this week, Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi insisted that "everything is still on the table." Until the pick is submitted to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, Tennessee could theoretically trade down or select someone other than Ward.

It looks increasingly like Ward is the team's preferred option, though.

Head coach Brian Callahan told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero the Titans have "a short list at No. 1 for sure." He listed off Ward along with Colorado's Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders and Penn State edge-rusher Abdul Carter.

The Titans are the first team on the clock for a reason. They suffered 14 losses in 2024 and still need to upgrade at multiple positions even after free agency.

But finding the right quarterback will go a long way toward accelerating Tennessee's rebuild, and Ward is the best signal-caller available. He ranks ahead of Sanders on Bleacher Report's big board and is the No. 9 overall prospect.

Absent an overwhelming trade offer coming in for the Titans, it's hard to see them turning away from the most obvious strategy to lead off the draft.

Brian Callahan Says Titans 'Getting Closer' to Top Pick Decision amid Cam Ward Rumors

Paul Kasabian
Mar 29, 2025
2025 NFL Scouting Combine

Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan said the team is "getting closer" to making its choice for the No. 1 overall pick, he told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Callahan also name-dropped a few of the draft's top prospects, including Miami quarterback Cam Ward, who has been the most connected to the Titans at No. 1 overall.

"I think it's a short list at No. 1 for sure, it's all the guys that I think are worthy of it, the ones that everyone talks about out there, and between Travis (Hunter) and Shedeur (Sanders) and Cam (Ward) and Abdul Carter, I think those are, that's the top of the draft for me, those are the most elite players in the draft," Callahan told Pelissero. "There's going to be a lot of good ones certainly that come after them, but I think those at this moment are the best players in the draft and at the top of it."

According to Titans insider Paul Kuharsky, Tennessee put Ward through a private workout on Friday at Miami. Regarding his performance, "indications are the Titans thought Ward threw the ball well and did great," Kuharsky wrote.

Kuharsky also stated that "Ward is the presumed No. 1 pick if the Titans stay put." However, he also wrote that "their due diligence will include Shedeur Sanders' pro day on April 4 and a private workout on April 9."

Ad Placeholder

The Titans are in need of a quarterback after seemingly putting an end to the Will Levis era with his benching last season. They're in the prime spot to take one at No. 1 overall, and Ward is widely considered the top signal-caller available. The B/R NFL Scouting Department ranks Ward as QB1 and the ninth-ranked prospect overall.

Ultimately, this seems like a spot where Tennessee should simply take the best quarterback available, giving the second-year head coach in Callahan and a first-year general manager in Mike Borgonzi their franchise signal-caller.

We'll find out soon enough what the Titans decide with the draft on Thursday, April 24 in Green Bay, but it's certainly possible that the news could more or less become a formality by then as well.

Cam Ward's Private Titans Workout Reportedly 'Went Great' Amid 2025 NFL Draft Rumors

Mar 29, 2025
Duke v Miami

Cam Ward may have passed another key test on his journey toward becoming the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft.

Per NFL insider Paul Kuharsky, Ward's private workout with the Tennessee Titans on Friday "went great" from the team's perspective.

Titans officials got an in-person look at Ward earlier in the week during Miami's pro day on Monday, but Kuharsky noted the private workout allowed them to interact "with him on a level they had not before."

Head coach Brian Callahan, offensive coordinator Nick Holz, president of football operations Chad Brinker and general manager Mike Borgonzi were part of a large contingent of Titans officials at Friday's workout.

Ad Placeholder

After his pro day workout, Ward told NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe and Brian Baldinger he was "solidifying" his case to be the top pick by the Titans.

Even though Borgonzi has said "everything is still on the table" for the Titans, they seem to be zeroing in on Ward. They are reportedly seeking three first-round picks—or the equivalent value—to move out of the No. 1 spot.

The Titans did host Penn State star Abdul Carter on a top-30 visit, but there has been very little indication outside of that they are strongly pursuing him.

Ad Placeholder

Tennessee's quarterback depth chart would certainly support the addition of Ward. Will Levis, Brandon Allen and Tim Boyle are currently the signal-callers under contract to the team.

Levis is the only one from that trio who was on Tennessee's roster last season. He finished 2024 with 2,091 passing yards, 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 12 starts.

B/R's NFL scouting department projected Ward to the Titans in its most recent mock draft released on March 20.

If anyone other than Ward winds up being selected No. 1 overall by the Titans, it would feel like a huge upset at this point.

Titans Announce Light Blue Uniforms Will Be Home Jerseys Starting in 2025 NFL Season

Joseph Zucker
Mar 27, 2025
Jacksonville Jaguars v Tennessee Titans

The Tennessee Titans announced they're making light blue the primary color for their home uniforms during the 2025 NFL season.

"We're talking to fans and we're listening, and there's a clear appetite to have the Titans, their team, represented on the field in this noticeable color that has been with this team from 1960 in Houston, into Memphis, at Vanderbilt and as we've played at Nissan Stadium," team president Burke Nihill said to Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site.

The navy blue jersey set will now be the Titans' alternates, though it might be left in the wardrobe most Sundays. Nihill told Wyatt that "the plan is to wear Titans blue at every one of our home games this year."

Ad Placeholder

The franchise initially carried over its Oilers branding after relocating from Houston in 1997. It wasn't until 1999 that the Titans adopted their current name and logo.

Since then, they've rotated between the navy and light blue variations for their primary home threads.

Wyatt provided one important detail from Thursday's announcement. The Houston Oilers throwbacks won't be making an apparence in 2025 or for the foreseeable future.

Ad Placeholder

Losing the Oilers remains a sore point for Houston-area residents. Those feelings were heightened in 2023 after the NFL sent a cease-and-desist letter to the University of Houston after the Cougars football team wore Oiler-themed light blue alternate uniforms.

As much as the Oilers jerseys are iconic, shelving them indefinitely is probably the right call.

Titans GM Says 'Everything is Still on the Table' for No. 1 NFL Draft Pick Amid Rumors

Joseph Zucker
Mar 26, 2025
2025 NFL Scouting Combine

Tennessee Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi is still evaluating all of his options with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft.

"I would say everything is still on the table," Borgonzi said this week at Miami's pro day, per Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site. "From the beginning I said I wanted to go through the whole process, and I felt like our priority was to build the offensive line first, and we added (tackle) Dan Moore and (guard) Kevin Zeitler.

"Now we're going through the process here with the college quarterbacks. But I'd say everything is still on the table right now."

Ad Placeholder

Keeping the No. 1 pick and taking Miami quarterback Cam Ward is the most straightforward path for Tennessee.

Surely the Titans aren't going to start Will Levis or Brandon Allen for a full season, and Ward is widely considered to be the top QB available. He ranks ahead of Colorado's Shedeur Sanders on Bleacher Report's 2025 big board.

Ad Placeholder

However, Ward isn't being talked about like a can't-miss franchise quarterback like some prospects in the past. Having evaluated the Hurricanes standout, B/R NFL scout Dame Parson compared him to Titans legend Steve McNair but gave him an 8.3 overall grade. For some context, Drake Maye (9.3) and Caleb Williams (9.2) were graded more highly last year.

Borgonzi's comments come as ESPN's Adam Schefter reported this week the Titans like what they've seen from Ward but remain willing to trade their first-round pick.

Moving back in the first round would probably eliminate their chances of getting Ward or even Sanders. As a value proposition, perhaps it's the better way to strengthen the roster, though.

Ad Placeholder

Schefter's report and Borgonzi's remarks are likely just the typical posturing any team with a top-five pick does in the weeks leading up to the draft.

A GM doesn't want to lean too far in either direction. If you look desperate to trade back, then it gives an impression you aren't all that enamored with a player you're likely to take. Make it unequivocally clear you're not trading the pick and you close the door—no matter how long the odds—on getting an offer that's too good to turn down.

Don't be surprised if the 2025 draft opens in anticlimactic fashion with Ward holding a Titans jersey on the stage while standing alongside NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

NFL Draft Rumors: Cam Ward to Have Private Workout with Titans amid Trade Buzz

Adam Wells
Mar 25, 2025
Miami v Syracuse

The Tennessee Titans are going to know Cam Ward better than most of his family at the rate they are going.

After sending a huge contingent to Miami's pro day on Monday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the Titans are going to have a private workout with Ward amid increasing buzz he will be the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL draft.

Schefter noted the Titans are still open to hearing offers for the top pick, but the feeling is it "now would take an even stronger package" to get them to move off that spot.

Ad Placeholder

The Titans had president of football operations Chad Brinker, general manager Mike Borgonzi, head coach Brian Callahan, offensive coordinator Nick Holz and quarterbacks coach Bo Hardegee in Miami on Monday.

That came after the Titans' contingent took Ward out for a dinner on Sunday night.

Ward is making no secret that he wants to be the top pick. The 22-year-old said in an interview with NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe and Brian Baldinger after his pro day he told Titans officials he was "solidifying" his status as the No. 1 player in the 2025 class.

Ad Placeholder

There was a time when it seemed like the No. 1 selection might be up in the air, both in terms of who which team would be making it and which player it might be.

Brinker told reporters in January the Titans wouldn't "pass on a generational talent" with the first pick. That was at a time when it was still thought that none of the quarterbacks were slam-dunk options at No. 1 overall.

Ad Placeholder

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported on Feb. 9 that the Titans were keeping "all options on the table," including potentially trading the pick.

Things certainly appear to have changed in recent weeks. The Titans are going all-out in their efforts to get as much time with Ward as they possibly can. It's always possible some team makes an offer that's hard to refuse, but it seems like it would take a huge haul and a lot of convincing to move them out of their current spot.

B/R's NFL scouting department has Ward projected as the No. 1 pick in its most recent mock draft. The Titans' lone move at quarterback in free agency thus far was to sign Brandon Allen.

Will Levis, who was benched for two games late in the 2024 season, is the only other quarterback on Tennessee's roster right now.

It would be a huge upset at this point if anyone other than Ward goes No. 1 overall to the Titans when the draft begins on April 24.

Cam Ward Told Titans Brass He Was 'Solidifying' No. 1 Draft Pick During Pro Day

2025 NFL Scouting Combine

Cam Ward revealed what he told representatives from the Tennessee Titans, owners of the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, at Miami's pro day on Monday.

"I'm solidifying it today," Ward explained to NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe and Brian Baldinger (1:30 in video).

"I made sure they heard me," he added.

Titans president of football operations Chad Brinker, general manager Mike Borgonzi and head coach Brian Callahan were among the members of the organization present to watch Ward throw on Monday (via Wolfe).

Tennessee previously hosted Ward on a visit and met with him again for dinner on Sunday, via Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler also reported that the signal-caller is "very likely" headed to the Titans with the No. 1 overall pick.

Ward wrapped up a stellar senior season at Miami, completing 67.2 percent of his throws for 4,313 yards and 39 touchdowns compared to seven interceptions.

His fit in Tennessee is clear, as the team owned the seventh-worst passing attack in the NFL last season. Will Levis and Mason Rudolph combined to finish with a 3-14 record under center for the Titans in 2024, tossing 22 total touchdowns to go along with 21 interceptions.

Tennessee was projected to select Ward with the No. 1 pick in the latest mock draft from Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department, with B/R NFL Scout Dame Parson highlighting the potential pairing alongside Callahan.

"Head coach Brian Callahan can nurture the talented skill set Ward possesses into a more mature quarterback and franchise leader," Parson said.

The Titans are reportedly interested in Ward as the first round of the draft draws closer, and the feeling appears to be mutual.

Titans Rumors: Inside Cam Ward's Interviews amid Buzz Team Would 'Love' to Trade Down

Joseph Zucker
Mar 23, 2025
2025 NFL Scouting Combine

Miami quarterback Cam Ward "will be heavily in the mix" for the Tennessee Titans with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

Appearing Sunday on SportsCenter, Fowler suggested the Titans "would love to trade back and still get a top quarterback that they want" in a perfect world. When moving down risks missing out on a preferred QB, though, it may not be the sensible choice.

The NFL insider said Tennessee is high on Ward based on its interactions with the Hurricanes star.

"The people I've talked to believe that Cam Ward has separated himself right now as QB1 in this draft," he reported. "The Tennessee Titans have not made a firm determination on what they're going to do but they have had a good process with Cam Ward. I'm told his interviews with the team went smoothly. He was able to show that he can improve from mistakes, that he can correct them, that he can be coachable to go along with the big-time skill set."

Ad Placeholder

Ward is the No. 9 overall prospect and top quarterback on Bleacher Report's 2025 big board, and he went first overall to the Titans in B/R's newest mock.

"Will Levis remains under contract for 2025," B/R NFL scout Dame Parson said of the pick. "However, he has not demonstrated enough for the organization to bypass the opportunity to draft a quarterback, instead relying solely on his development.

Ad Placeholder

"Miami's Cam Ward is an exciting prospect who will win from the pocket and off-script. Ward has the arm talent to attack every level of the defense vertically and horizontally. Head coach Brian Callahan can nurture the talented skill set Ward possesses into a more mature quarterback and franchise leader."

That pretty much sums it up.

Levis has thrown for 3,988 yards, 21 touchdowns and 16 interceptions in 21 starts. To say his decision-making has been puzzling at times would be an understatement.

The 25-year-old isn't the long-term solution at quarterback for the Titans, and their position in the draft allows them to get the best signal-caller available.

Maybe first-year general manager Mike Borgonzi gets a trade offer that's too good to turn down. Otherwise, playing it safe with Ward is the way to go.

NFL Insider: Titans 'Grew Enamored' with Cam Ward During Meetings amid Draft Rumors

Adam Wells
Mar 20, 2025
COLLEGE FOOTBALL: NOV 09 Miami at Georgia Tech

As the rumors persist that Cam Ward will be the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL draft, the Tennessee Titans are apparently fond of the Miami quarterback.

Per The Athletic's Joe Rexrode, the Titans "grew enamored" with Ward in a predraft meeting in which he talked through some of his game film in college to explain his thought-process on certain decisions.

It would be considered a huge upset if Ward weren't selected by the Titans.

B/R's NFL scouting department dropped a new mock draft Thursday, with Ward going No. 1 overall.

Ad Placeholder

Per NFL mock draft database, 83 percent of all mocks right now have Ward being the pick for the Titans. The New York Giants were at one point rumored to be looking at trading up for the first pick, but that doesn't appear to be on the table anymore.

Ad Placeholder

Some of the Titans' moves in free agency suggest the front office and coaching staff want to put a rookie quarterback in a more hospitable environment. Their signings include veteran offensive linemen Kevin Zeitler to play right guard and Dan Moore Jr. to play left tackle.

Tennessee also notably didn't invest in a quarterback who could step in as a starter next season. The team did sign veteran Brandon Allen as a depth option, but Will Levis is penciled in as the top quarterback on the depth chart.

Ad Placeholder

Even though there was a time when it seemed like the Titans would opt to go with the best overall player in the draft at No. 1 regardless of position, it now appears they are zeroing in on Ward at that spot.

It's also possible the Titans view Ward as the best player in the draft, so they won't necessarily be going back on what their initial plan was.

Ultimately, the fastest way for the Titans to get back to being a competitive franchise is to find a good quarterback. Ward is the best one in this class and had an impressive 2024 at Miami, throwing for 4,313 yards and 39 touchdowns in 13 games.

The Titans have posted a losing record in three consecutive seasons. Their 14 losses during the 2024 campaign were tied for the most in a single season in franchise history.
