Wild vs. Golden Knights Betting Odds, Player Props and Picks for April 29

Joe Tansey
Apr 29, 2025

The Minnesota Wild and Vegas Golden Knights haven’t been front and center in the Western Conference spotlight through four games.

However, their series has been as entertaining as the Edmonton-Los Angeles and Colorado-Dallas series at the top of the marquee.

Twenty-seven goals were scored in the first four games and more tallies are on the menu at T-Mobile Arena on Tuesday night.

Jack Eichel Over 2.5 Shots On Goal (-142)

Jack Eichel played his way into the series in Minnesota.

Vegas’ superstar left home ice with no goals and just two shots on goal from Games 1 and 2.

In St. Paul, the 28-year-old recorded his first point of the series and put nine shots on net.

Eichel turned a corner against the Wild’s defense in those games and he needs to rip more pucks on net in Game 5 with Vegas back at home.

Simply put, the Golden Knights need their best forward to be active all night in the offensive zone to leave the ice with a 3-2 series advantage.

Jake Middleton Over 2.5 Blocks (+105)

All of the momentum seems to be on Vegas’ side going into Game 5.

The Golden Knights captured Game 4 in overtime and are back home in The Fortress on Tuesday, so you’d expect them to come out fast and send a ton of shots toward the Minnesota net.

Not all of the shots will get through to Filip Gustavsson because of Jake Middleton and the other Wild defenders. Middleton was Minnesota’s primary shot blocker in Games 3 and 4 with 10 blocks.

Gustavsson made 72 saves in Games 3 and 4, and if Vegas shoots at that same volume in Game 5, Middleton will have plenty of shot-blocking opportunities.

Over 5.5 (-125)

The Over 5.5 is 4-0 in the Wild-Golden Knights series.

Game 5 appears to be Vegas’ to lose because of the home ice and the Game 4 win, but you can never count out the Wild with Kirill Kaprizov, Matt Boldy and Joel Eriksson Ek on the ice at a high volume.

Kaprizov and Boldy have 14 points combined, and the line with them and Eriksson Ek features the only three Wild forwards that have played over 80 minutes in the series.

Vegas is averaging 34.2 shots on goal per game in the series, and although it has only scored 12 goals, Gustavsson has allowed multiple goals in every game.

Adin Hill only has a .854 save percentage in the Vegas net, and the Wild haven’t been held under three goals since Game 1.

The defending Stanley Cup Champions have been eliminated from the playoffs.

The Vegas Golden Knights dropped Game 7 of their first round series to the Dallas Stars 2-1 Sunday night, ending their season.

The Stars took a 1-0 lead early in the first period on a Wyatt Johnston goal, but the Golden Knights managed to answer in the second period after Brett Howden put one in the net on a tip-in.

Radek Faksa gave Dallas a 2-1 edge in the first minute of the final period, and Vegas never responded. The Golden Knights had a prime opportunity to even things up in a power play halfway through the third period, but couldn't capitalize.

After the loss, fans lamented the disappointing first-round exit a year removed from taking home the Stanley Cup.

Vegas had plenty of opportunities in the deciding game but never found the net outside of the second period, and now its season is over in the first round.

The Golden Knights have a long offseason ahead of them to figure out what needs to happen to get back to the Stanley Cup Finals, but the Stars are moving on to the second round to face the Colorado Avalanche.

The first-round series gave fans plenty of excitement, and if the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs is anything like the past few weeks, it should be eventful.

Anthony Mantha Traded to Golden Knights from Capitals Ahead of Deadline

The Vegas Golden Knights acquired forward Anthony Mantha from the Washington on Tuesday in exchange for a 2024 second-round pick and 2026 fourth-rounder.

The 29-year-old has posted 20 goals and 14 assists in 56 games this season, the first time since the 2018-19 campaign he's reached the 20-goal threshold.

TSN's Pierre LeBrun reported that the Capitals were retaining 50 percent of Mantha's salary and cap hit, giving the Golden Knights the flexibility to make additional moves before Friday's NHL trade deadline.

Mantha is in the final year of the four-year, $22.8 million extension he signed with the Detroit Red Wings back in 2020. He spent parts of his first six seasons with Detroit before being traded to the Capitals in the 2020-21 campaign, where he's been since.

While he never quite lived up to expectations in Washington before this season, he should be a nice addition for the defending champion Golden Knights as they look to load up for another deep run in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The team is currently third in the Pacific Division at 73 points, just one point above the Los Angeles Kings.

It's another win-now move for Vegas, which hasn't wasted time chasing titles in its short history as an NHL franchise.

The Capitals, meanwhile, have just 65 points on the season and are seven points back in the Wild Card hunt. It appears they're more likely to be sellers rather than buyers, an approach that general manager Brian MacLellan hinted at on Saturday.

"I think our priority would be the future of our club," he told reporters. "All decisions will be based on [that]. It's not, 'Hey, we're going to go out and rent a guy for the playoffs.' We're not in that game. We're here to look for opportunities to find more young players, add more young players to our roster and compete—still compete."

Golden Knights Would Be Best Fit for Penguins' Jake Guentzel amid NHL Trade Rumors

Jake Guentzel has never played for an NHL team other than the Pittsburgh Penguins. His entire eight-year career has been spent with the franchise that selected him in the third round of the 2013 draft.

That might change before Friday at 3 p.m. ET, which is the NHL trade deadline for the 2023-24 season.

According to Pierre LeBrun of TSN and The Athletic, it's believed the Penguins have a "very clear sense" of what they need to do before the deadline, and the assumption is they'll be sellers. Pittsburgh is "exploring all options" in order to "bolster the club for the future," per LeBrun.

If the Pens decide they want to move Guentzel, they shouldn't have trouble finding a trade partner. LeBrun reported there "six-plus legit suitors," a group that includes both the Vancouver Canucks and the Vegas Golden Knights.

Guentzel would bolster the offense of any NHL team. But the Golden Knights may be the Stanley Cup contender that could use the 29-year-old center the most, which is why Vegas is the best fit.

It wouldn't be a long-term move. Guentzel is set to become an unrestricted free agent after the season, and the Golden Knights likely won't have the cap space to re-sign him. However, they could go on a deep playoff run and possibly even win a second straight Stanley Cup if they upgrade their offense.

Vegas is without captain Mark Stone for at least the rest of the regular season. The 31-year-old is an integral part of the team's core, so it hurts the Golden Knights to not have him in the lineup.

Jack Eichel returned from a knee injury on Monday, when Vegas lost 6-3 to the Columbus Blue Jackets. He'll provide a boost, but the Golden Knights need to get going after losing six of their past seven games and eight of their past 10.

Guentzel is having another stellar season in Pittsburgh. He has tallied 22 goals and 30 assists for 52 points in 50 games. After recording 84 points in 2021-22 and 73 in 2022-23, he should finish with a big total again this year.

Vegas has to be enticed by the idea of pairing Guentzel with Eichel to form a potent offensive duo for the rest of this season. A move like that could help the Golden Knights have more postseason success.

Even though Guentzel would likely be a rental, the cost could be high. But it could be well worth it for Vegas to pay up if it believes he can help lead it to another Cup.

The Golden Knights may have to outbid numerous other teams, considering the recent rumors of the high interest in Guentzel. And they shouldn't completely mortgage the future to pull off a trade. But they should be aggressive, as it would make a ton of sense for Guentzel to go to Vegas.
