Chris Jericho defeated Hook and Katsuyori Shibata in a three-way FTW Rules match at AEW Double or Nothing on Sunday to retain the FTW Championship.

Jericho won after a masked man (who turned out to be Bryan Keith) attacked Hook and Shibata:

The spot of the match went to Hook, though, who tossed an interfering Big Bill off the mat and through a table below.

Jericho won the FTW title last month at Dynasty when he beat Hook after previously taking the son of AEW commentator Taz under his wing.

While Jericho seemingly had good intentions at first, he showed his true colors when he felt Hook wasn't listening to him and wasn't showing a proper appreciation for his guidance.

That led to Jericho facing and beating Hook for the FTW title at Dynasty, and it only served to make Jericho even more full of himself.

The former AEW world champion began referring to himself as "The Learning Tree," and he was able to use his propaganda to reel in Big Bill, who became something of a pupil and a bodyguard for Jericho.

Jericho also changed the meaning of the FTW Championship from "F--k The World" to "For The World," as he claimed that the title belonged to not only him, but also all of his fans.

While doing all of that, Jericho seemed to be sidestepping a rematch with Hook, which led to a three-way match to determine Jericho's opponent at Double or Nothing.

The bout featured Bryan Keith, Hook and Shibata, the latter of whom teamed with both Jericho and Hook on multiple occasions.

Both Hook and Shibata locked Keith into a submission hold at the same time and made him tap, so Hook and Shibata were named co-winners of the match, meaning Jericho would have to defend against both of them.

The odds were stacked against Jericho with both Hook and Shibata wanting to make The Demo God pay for his antics and take the FTW title in the process, but Jericho was victorious and managed to keep his championship reign intact.

Chris Jericho defeated Hook in an FTW Rules match at AEW Dynasty on Sunday to win the FTW Championship.

Jericho hit his Judas Effect finisher twice, but Hook kicked out both times. It took a blow from Jericho's baseball bat to finally put him away.

In recent weeks, Jericho and Hook had been working together by joining forces in multiple tag team matches, and Jericho made it clear that he was attempting to help Hook reach the next level by lending his expertise.

After Jericho and Hook teamed up to beat Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona on the Big Business episode of Dynamite on March 13, they faced each other in a singles match on the following week's show.

Hook took the fight to Jericho by hitting him with numerous suplexes, and he ultimately beat the former AEW world champion in one of the biggest victories of his career to date. Afterward, they shared a show of respect with a fist bump.

Jericho continued in a mentorship role after that, and things went well initially, as they beat Shane Taylor and Lee Moriarty in a tag team match.

However, Jericho, Hook and Katsuyori Shibata lost a trios match to Taylor, Moriarty and Anthony Ogogo on the April 10 edition of Dynamite, and Jericho clearly felt the loss was a result of Hook not listening to his advice.

That led to an in-ring meeting involving Hook, Jericho and Hook's father, ECW legend and AEW commentator, Taz.

When Hook remained resistant to Jericho's guidance, the iconic wrestler turned his attention to Taz, noting that the whole mess was created due to Taz not properly directing his son.

Jericho shoved Taz, which prompted Hook to step in and challenge Jericho. It wasn't long before an FTW title match between a rising star in Hook and a cagey veteran in Jericho was made official for Dynasty.

Hook attempted to defend his dad's honor by putting the title Taz created on the line, but Jericho was victorious at Dynasty, adding yet another new championship to his legendary résumé.
