The College World Series between No. 1 Tennessee and Texas A&M began Saturday at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska.

As the Aggies and Vols each search for their first national championship in their respective program's histories, Texas A&M got one step closer with a 9-5 win.

Tennessee boasts one of the most dominant offenses in college baseball this season—and arguably one of the best ever—but it was the Aggies who were producing runs on Saturday.

Texas A&M opened the game with a leadoff opposite-field home run from Gavin Grahovac, quickly setting the tone for the night.

Texas A&M added another run after an RBI single from Caden Sorrell before starting pitcher Ryan Prager shut the Vols down in order in the bottom of the first.

Tennessee pitcher AJ Causey, who relieved Chris Stamos in the first inning, put the Aggies down in order in the second inning, paving the way for Tennessee to get its first run of the night on an RBI single from Dean Curley.

But Texas A&M quickly got back that run and more in the third inning, posting a five-spot to make it a 7-1 game.

An error from Tennessee and a slew of hits from the Aggies gave them a comfortable lead heading into the bottom of the fourth, where the Vols managed to get just one run across on an RBI single from Hunter Ensley.

After a few scoreless innings, Texas A&M did more damage in the top of the seventh on a two-run homer from Kaeden Kent to give the Aggies a 9-2 lead.

But Tennessee showed some life in the bottom of the seventh after Dylan Dreiling hit a two-run home run and Ensley followed it up with a solo shot to make it a much more manageable 9-5 game.

Those runs in the seventh were the last the Vols could muster, though, and they came up short of completing the comeback. Relief pitcher Evan Aschenbeck came in for Texas A&M in the bottom seventh and produced seven strikeouts to hold off the comeback.

It was an uncharacteristic game from Tennessee with a handful of errors on defense and a somewhat slow night on offense. Star veterans Blake Burke and Christian Moore were quiet in the loss, and the Vols will need them to step up in Game 2.

Texas A&M flexed its offensive muscle early on Saturday, and it will need to continue to do so on Sunday to keep up with the Vols' high-powered offense.

The Aggies now lead the best-of-three series 1-0, but Tennessee will likely come out fired up on Sunday looking to avoid elimination.

Baseball fans couldn't have asked for more out of Wednesday's slate with everything from eliminations to spots in the 2024 Men's College World Series championship on the line in the three games.

Here is a look at the full schedule and results for Wednesday's contests at Charles Schwab Field Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska:

  • Florida 15, No. 2 Kentucky 4 (elimination game)
  • No. 1 Tennessee 7, No. 8 Florida State 2
  • No. 3 Texas A&M 6, Florida 0

The full bracket can be found on the NCAA's official website.

In short, SEC rivals Florida and Kentucky started things off with an elimination contest. The winner stayed alive to face Texas A&M in the nightcap. If the Aggies won that, they would advance to the CWS championship. However, there would be a decisive rematch on Thursday if the Aggies lost.

In between the SEC drama was a showdown between one of the conference's other teams in Tennessee and the ACC's Florida State.

The Volunteers would clinch a spot in the CWS championship with a win, while the Seminoles winning would mean the teams faced each other again in a decisive game on Thursday.

Florida 15, No. 2 Kentucky 4

Talk about leaving no doubt with the season on the line.

Florida exploded for 15 runs in a dominant 15-4 victory over No. 2 Kentucky to end the Wildcats' championship dreams. The Gators set the tone with seven runs in the opening inning and never looked back.

Brody Donay launched two home runs while going 3-for-5 with five RBI and three runs scored, while Jac Caglianone blasted a long ball as well. Elsewhere, Luke Heyman went 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored.

Caglianone's home run set the program's all-time record:

In all, each of Florida's top eight batters in the lineup notched hits, while seven players had at least one RBI.

Starting pitcher Pierce Coppola allowed four earned runs while striking out nine in five innings, while the bullpen duo of Jake Clemente and Alex Philpott combined for a dominant showing of four scoreless innings with seven strikeouts and just one hit allowed.

The Gators will have a quick turnaround for their game against Texas A&M, but at least they didn't have to sweat the ending of their overwhelming victory over Kentucky.

No. 1 Tennessee 7, No. 8 Florida State 2

The No. 1 team in the field is going to the CWS championship.

Much like Florida in Wednesday's opener, Tennessee wasted no time setting the tone with three runs in the top of the first inning on the way to a 7-2 victory. Billy Amick and Hunter Ensley drove in runs in that first inning, but the fireworks came later.

Christian Moore's RBI triple in the fourth inning made it 5-0, and Blake Burke's long ball in the ninth further broke the game open.

It was part of an excellent game for Burke, who went 3-of-5 with the home run, two RBI and a run scored. Moore and Amick also finished with two hits and two runs scored each as the top three batters in the Volunteers' lineup spearheaded the offensive effort.

They didn't overshadow the pitching, though, as starter Zander Sechrist allowed just two runs on solo homers from Daniel Cantu and Alex Lodise in the seventh inning after pitching six scoreless frames at the start. He ended up with three strikeouts and five hits allowed in 6.1 innings of work.

He then turned the ball over to the bullpen, and Kirby Connell pitched 1.2 shutout innings before Nate Snead slammed the door with a scoreless ninth.

No. 3 Texas A&M 6, Florida 0

It will be an all-SEC CWS championship.

Texas A&M clinched its spot against Tennessee with a 6-0 victory over Florida to round out Wednesday's crowded schedule. The Gators could only do so much after playing earlier in the day, and the Aggies were largely in control from the opening inning.

The victors used some small ball to push across two runs in the opening frame and then broke it open with an RBI double from Gavin Grahovac in the fifth and a two-run homer from Caden Sorrell in the sixth.

A 5-0 lead was more than enough for the Aggies' pitching, which was dialed in throughout the contest.

Starter Justin Lamkin struck out nine and allowed just three hits in five scoreless innings, and Josh Stewart struck out two Gators in a key moment in the sixth with runners on second and third to preserve the shutout.

The escape acts continued for the Texas A&M bullpen in the eighth when Evan Aschenbeck induced a pop out and strike out with runners on the corners and one out for Florida.

In all, the bullpen combined for five strikeouts in four scoreless innings in a brilliant performance to push the Aggies through to the championship.

The College World Series only featured on game on Tuesday Florida's elimination game against Kentucky had to be pushed back to Wednesday at 11 a.m. ET due to weather. And it was a big one, with the final two ACC teams squaring off for the right to remain in Omaha.

Below, we'll break down the day's action and its impact on the tournament. The updated bracket is available at NCAA.com.

Scores

Florida vs. Kentucky, postponed

Florida State 9, North Carolina 5

Recap

Florida State is the final ACC school standing after eliminating North Carolina on Tuesday.

The Seminoles (48-15) were led by their bats, namely leadoff hitter Max Williams (3-for-5 with a homer, two RBI and one run) and catcher Jaxson West (4-for-5 with a homer, two RBI and a walk).

Florida State used a big top of the fifth to jump out to a 7-1 lead, though the Tar Heels (47-15) quickly countered with four runs of their own in the bottom of the frame, fueled by Vance Honeycutt's three-run homer.

But the Seminoles kept them at bay, adding two more runs in the top of the ninth behind homers from West and Williams.

Connor Hults got the win for Florida State, pitching the final 4.1 innings of the game while allowing just two hits, a walk and no runs while striking out two. North Carolina's Aidan Hulgh (2.1 innings, two hits, three runs, three walks, three strikeouts) took the loss.

Florida State now needs to beat Tennessee twice to advance to the CWS Finals, with the first game scheduled for Wednesday at 2 p.m. ET and the second game, if necessary, on Thursday. Tennessee would advance with either a win on Wednesday or a win on Thursday.

The 2024 College World Series continued on Monday with a pair of games from the bottom half of the bracket at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska.

The day opened with an elimination game between Florida and NC State and was followed by an evening matchup in the double-elimination round between Kentucky and Texas A&M.

Here's a look at how the action played out on Monday.

Bracket 2 - Monday, June 17

Florida def. NC State, 5-4

Texas A&M def. Kentucky, 5-1

Tuesday, June 18

Florida vs. Kentucky (elimination game)

Florida 5, NC State 4

The scoring started early in Monday's opening game. NC State got on the board in the first inning on an RBI single by Brandon Butterworth, but Florida took the advantage in the very next frame.

After a sacrifice fly tied the game, Gators slugger Jac Caglianone launched a three-run home run that gave Florida a 4-1 lead in the second inning. It was Caglianone's 34th homer of the season.

However, the Wolfpack wouldn't go down quietly, as Alec Makarewicz answered with a two-run homer in the third that cut the deficit to one.

The Gators tacked on another run in the fifth on a solo blast by Tyler Shelnut, and Butterworth answered in the bottom of the frame with an RBI double, creating a tense situation over the final four innings.

However, Florida relievers Jake Clemente and Brandon Neely combined to hold NC State to just one hit in four shutout innings to preserve the one-run victory. Neely was particularly effective, notching six strikeouts in three innings of work to earn the save.

The win kept Florida's season alive for at least one more day, as the Gators will face another elimination game against Kentucky on Tuesday.

Texas A&M 5, Kentucky 1

A gem by starting pitcher Ryan Prager and a five-run sixth inning powered the Aggies past the Wildcats.

Prager carried a no-hitter through 6.2 innings to give Texas A&M a cushion. He recorded four strikeouts before being pulled after giving up back-to-back hits with two outs in the seventh.

With Prager dominating on the mound, his counterpart Mason Moore was effective for Kentucky until things fell apart in the sixth. He surrendered two runs without recording an out and left two runners on base when he was pulled from the game. An RBI double by Ali Camarillo and a two-run single by Kaeden Kent capped off the scoring barrage by the Aggies.

Josh Stewart closed things out in relief for Texas A&M, recording three strikeouts. A solo home run by Ryan Nicholson in the ninth ruined the shutout, but the Aggies were never in danger of giving up the lead.

Texas A&M will now have the chance to rest up before facing the winner of Florida vs. Kentucky on Wednesday.

The College Baseball World Series continued Sunday from Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska.

Sunday's action saw the first team of the weekend eliminated as Florida State downed Virginia to give the Cavaliers their second loss of the tournament and end their season. Top-seeded Tennessee picked up another win, beating North Carolina to get one step closer to a championship.

After another day of the Greatest Show on Dirt, here's a look at how the two games unfolded.

Bracket 1

Florida State def. Virginia, 7-3

Tennessee def North Carolina, 6-1

Florida State 7, Virginia 3

The Seminoles faced a crushing loss on Friday as Tennessee walked it off but responded well with a big win to keep their championship hopes alive.

There was little action through the first three innings until Florida State struck first in the bottom of the third after Virginia gave up a walk with the bases loaded. The Seminoles tacked on to their lead in the bottom of the fourth inning when Jaime Ferrer drilled a solo shot to left field.

The Seminoles bolstered their lead in the bottom of the fifth, adding four runs to make it 6-0. Marcos Dinges got things started with an RBI single before Ferrer once again homered, this time a three-run shot and his third home run of the College World Series.

The home runs weren't over for Florida State in the sixth as Alex Lodise went yard to make it 7-0.

Virginia finally responded in the seventh inning after going scoreless through the first six innings. The Cavaliers got on the board with a pair of RBI singles before adding another run on an RBI double in the eighth inning.

Virginia didn't have enough to rally, though, and its season is now over.

It was an impressive day for starting pitcher Carson Dorsey, who gave the Noles seven innings and 106 pitches. He ended the day with seven strikeouts and two earned runs given up.

Florida State will now face the winner of Tennessee vs. North Carolina on Tuesday.

Tennessee 6, North Carolina 1

The Vols had far less drama against North Carolina than they did in their first game of the College World Series against Florida State.

The game started relatively slow, going scoreless through the first three innings. Tennessee opened up scoring in a big way in the fourth though, as Kavares Tears hit a three-run homer to give the Vols a 3-0 lead.

Tennessee added another home run in the fifth inning to make it a 4-0 lead, this time coming off the bat of Reese Chapman.

The Tar Heels' only run of the game came in the sixth inning on a solo homer from Vance Honeycutt, but Tennessee quickly got that run back on an RBI single from Dean Curley.

Tears continued what was a phenomenal day for him in the eighth, driving in a run with a double. He ended the night becoming the first player in Tennessee history with four RBI in a College World Series game.

On the mound, starting pitcher Drew Beam gave Tennessee a strong five-inning showing, allowing just four hits and a run and picking up seven strikeouts. Veteran reliever Kirby Connell came in for Beam in the sixth inning and gave up just one hit while picking up a pair of strikeouts. Nate Snead closed out the final two innings, allowing no hits against seven batters faced.

Tennessee will face the winner of North Carolina and Florida State on Wednesday.

The second day of the College World Series kicked off on Saturday, with the team's in Bracket 2 hitting the diamond for the first time.

Friday's action saw Tennessee defeat Florida State and North Carolina take down Virginia. The ACC and SEC were back on display once again on Saturday, with Kentucky, NC State, Texas A&M and Florida all in action.

Here's how the day's action has gone.

Bracket 2

Kentucky def. NC State, 5-4

Texas A&M def. Florida, 3-2

Kentucky 5, NC State 4

Nine innings weren't enough to determine a winner in the day's early tilt.

Kentucky was seeking its first win at the College World Series in program history, and a home run from Mitchell Daly in the bottom of the 10th allowed the Wildcats to secure it in style.

The home run was one of four that the Wildcats and Wolfpack combined for on the day.

Kentucky opened the scoring in the first inning, taking a 1-0 lead after an RBI single from Nick Lopez. NC State would tie it at 1-1 after a Jacob Cozart single in the third, and that score held until the bottom of the fourth when Nolan McCarthy got a hold of a pitch.

The two-run blast gave the Wildcats a 3-1 lead, but Alec Makarewicz tied the game for NC State with a two-run home run of his own in the seventh inning.

The Wolfpack took the lead for the first time after a wild pitch brought Garrett Pennington in.

This meant that NC State had a chance to close it out in the bottom of the inning, but that hope didn't last for very long.

The opposite field home run from Ryan Nicholson evened the score once again and then Daly's extra inning home run sealed the victory for the Wildcats.

Kentucky advanced within the winner's bracket and will face the winner of Texas A&M and Florida. NC State will look to avoid elimination against the loser of that matchup.

Texas A&M 3, Florida 2

Jace LaViolette robbed a Cade Kurland home run in the top of the ninth inning, spurring a 3-2 win for Texas A&M on Saturday.

Kurland's deep fly to right would have given Florida a 4-3 lead in a game that was dominated by pitching.

"I got a total wrong read off the bat, I'm not going to lie," LaViolette told reporters after the game. "I looked up and thought this might be a homer, and my heart dropped for a second and then I was at the wall. I give a little credit to the wind. This ballpark plays a lot bigger than what it is, and the wind knocked it down a little bit. It was a real cool play."

Justin Lamkin, Chris Cortez and Evan Aschenbeck combined to strike out 16 batters while allowing two runs on eight hits. Each of the three Texas A&M pitchers went three innings.

"Evan had to make really good pitches to get out of it," Schlossnagle said of jams in the eighth and ninth innings. "Really good [opponent], playing in the College World Series with your season on the line, we trust Evan. You're going to ride or die with your best."

The Aggies did all of their damage offensively in the first three innings, running Liam Peterson out of the game after he gave up three runs in 2.1 innings of work. Three Florida relievers allowed just two hits the rest of the way.

Texas A&M plays Kentucky on Monday in the winners' bracket, while Florida faces NC State in an elimination game.

The 2024 College World Series officially started on Friday with a pair of matchups taking place in Omaha, Nebraska.

North Carolina kicked things off with an incredible 3-2 walk-off victory over Virginia, before Tennessee secured another improbable walk-off win against Florida State by erasing a three-run deficit in the ninth inning.

With Friday's action concluded, here's a look at the updated first-round picture as well as a recap of each game.

Bracket 1

North Carolina def. Virginia, 3-2

Tennessee def. Florida State, 12-11

Bracket 2

NC State vs. Kentucky, Saturday at 2 p.m. ET

Texas A&M vs. Florida, Saturday at 7 p.m. ET

North Carolina 3, Virginia 2

Prior to an incredible finish, Friday's matchup between the Tar Heels and the Cavaliers started off as a pitching duel.

Virginia's Evan Blanco threw 6.2 innings of two-run ball, striking out six batters compared to just two walks. Right-hander Jason DeCaro also had a productive day on the mound for North Carolina, allowing one run and racking up six strikeouts in four innings.

The Tar Heels struck first, as a groundout from outfielder Anthony Donofrio allowed redshirt sophomore Casey Cook to cross the plate from third base and take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.

North Carolina wasn't able to run up the score, as the team didn't record another run until the seventh inning. In the meantime, Virginia jumped out to a 2-1 advantage after scoring in both the third and sixth innings.

Freshman Henry Ford recorded an impressive RBI single in the third before a sacrifice fly from infielder Griff O'Ferrall gave the Cavaliers their first lead of the day in the top of the sixth.

After scoring the first run of the game, Cook drove in North Carolina's second run with his own RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning. With two outs and a runner on second base, the outfielder sent a ball to left field that tied the contest at 2-2.

After a scoreless eighth inning, Tar Heels junior Vance Honeycutt delivered the play of the game by hitting a line drive to left field with two outs that allowed North Carolina to secure a walk-off win.

The Tar Heels' bullpen deserves a fair share of credit for the victory, as pitchers Matt Poston and Dalton Pence combined to allow just one run while racking up three strikeouts in five innings of work.

Tennessee 12, Florida State 11

While the first game of the day may have started off slow, that wasn't the case for Friday night's clash between the Volunteers and the Seminoles.

Tennessee led 2-1 after the first inning due to a pair of RBI singles from first baseman Blake Burke and outfielder Dylan Dreiling.

The Volunteers extended their lead to 4-1 through two innings, although Florida State didn't take long to respond. The Seminoles scored six runs at the top of the third and added two more in the fourth inning, jumping out to a commanding 9-4 edge.

Florida State's hot stretch was punctuated by doubles from Jaime Ferrer and Cam Smith in the third, with Ferrer coming back to the plate and recording a two-run home run in the fourth.

Next, it was the Volunteers' turn to hit some homers of their own. Outfielder Kavares Tears picked up a two-run blast in the sixth frame before Christian Moore hit a solo shot in the following inning. Moore went 5-6 at the plate, completing the sixth cycle in program history by the end of the sixth inning.

However, the outcome seemed bleak for the Volunteers as Florida State pushed the lead to 11-8 entering the bottom of the ninth.

Tennessee responded once again with a sacrifice fly by freshman Dean Curley before Burke tied the game with a two-run single. The Volunteers finally completed the improbable comeback win after Dreiling recorded a walk-off single with two outs.

Tennessee's lineup was superb all night long, with five different players recording multiple hits.
