Alex Morgan Of FC Sibir Novosibirsk: Russia Will Go To UEFA Champions League
Alex Morgan who is the current manager of FC Sibir Novosibirsk expressed confidence that Russia will be a protagonist in the UEFA Champions League. Morgan said that this will happen within five to six years in an interview with Russia Today (RT).
During the interview, Morgan expressed confidence that FC Sibir Novosibirsk will be returning to the Russian Premier League in the future. Morgan made Russian Football history by becoming the first citizen of Great Britain to manage a Russian team.
Morgan was famous as coach of the Scottish Premier League teams the Rangers and Hibernians. He also managed the Premier League team of Liverpool before eventually settling in Russia.
The idea of managing a football team in Russia or even going there to play would not have been possible a few years ago. What is happening in FC Sibir Novosibirsk and in the rest of Russia is the wave of football future.
Morgan is right when he said that Russia may become a force within the UEFA Champions League in the future. The comments by Morgan about FC Sibir Novosibirsk is possible but a lot of work has to be done.
Russian Football
Russia is going to be the host of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Russia is in the process of preparing its stadiums, infrastructures, schedules, and rules for this big event.
The Russian Premier League (RPL) recently changed its schedule to reflect Europe. Instead of Spring to Autumn, the RPL will play from Autumn to Spring.
The RPL did that by instituting the longest season from March 2011 to May 2012. The emerging club of the RPL which is Anzhi Makhachkala signed greats such as Samuel Eto'o and Roberto Carlos in the year 2011.
Recently, Infront Sports and Media offered a contract to the RPL for broadcasting rights. The contract is of six years duration with a payment of $70m a year.
The news was published in the RT website. The RPL declared that it was taking its time in studying the offer.
Russia is heading towards a bright future in advancing towards becoming a powerhouse in Europe and the world.
FC Sibir Novosibirsk
According to the UEFA website, FC Sibir Novosibirsk is ranked at 145th place. The club is not in the RPL but is in the Football Championship of the National League or second tier.
According to RT, the club is in seventh place within this division. In other words, the transformation talked about by Morgan in the interview with RT does not look promising.
The only thing possible for FC Sibir Novosibirsk under Alex Morgan is to dream and make it a reality. FC Sibir Novosibirsk is able to advance and join the rest of the RPL as well as UEFA but sacrifices must be made.
At least the club has a manager that is willing to go in a positive direction.
