Bo Nix Has CFB Fans Demanding Heisman Trophy for QB as Oregon Beats Oregon State

Oregon quarterback Bo Nix continued his Heisman Trophy campaign by completing 33-of-40 passes for 367 yards and two touchdowns to lead the No. 6 Ducks to a 31-7 win over arch rival No. 16 Oregon State on Friday evening.
Nix also rushed for 31 yards and another score against an 8-4 Oregon State team whose previous three losses were only by a combined eight points.
This one was all Oregon, however, thanks in part to Nix, who kicked off the scoring with a 14-yard touchdown pass to running back Bucky Irving.
Nix later took care of business himself with a 16-yard touchdown run to give Oregon a 14-0 lead following the PAT.
Then Nix found wide receiver Troy Franklin for a 41-yard bomb after evading the Beaver pass rush and throwing across the field for a big-time play.
The defense, which was phenomenal all evening, then took care of business in the second half by pitching a shutout.
Oregon was also able to construct a couple scoring drives, one capped by a Camden Lewis 25-yard field goal and another by Jordan James one-yard touchdown run.
It remains to be seen whether the Ducks can sneak into the four-team CFP, but it's clear that Nix has supplanted himself as a Heisman favorite. He had much support him on social media as he led the Ducks' dominant win.
Oregon will now face No. 4 Washington in the Pac-12 Championship Game on Friday. The Ducks' lone loss this year came against the undefeated Huskies, who defeated visiting Oregon 36-33 on Oct. 14.
Kickoff will take place at 8 p.m. ET in Las Vegas' Allegiant Stadium.
Oregon's Bo Nix Cements Heisman Trophy Favorite Status Among Fans with 6 TDs vs. ASU

Oregon Ducks star Bo Nix is one of the best quarterbacks in college football, but is he worthy of the Heisman Trophy?
Nix was dominant in Saturday's game against the Arizona State Sun Devils before being pulled late in the third quarter in favor of Ty Thompson with Oregon up 42-3. He completed 24 of 29 passes for 404 yards and six touchdowns, in addition to rushing for seven yards on three carries.
It was one of his best games of the season.
After Nix was pulled, college football fans were quick to dub the former Auburn quarterback the Heisman Trophy favorite:
Nix entered Saturday's game having completed 77.7 percent of his passes for 3,135 yards and 29 touchdowns against two interceptions in 10 games, in addition to rushing for 121 yards and five scores.
The 23-year-old entered the season having been considered a Heisman Trophy contender behind the likes of USC Caleb Williams and UNC's Drake Maye, but he arguably has outplayed both signal-callers en route to the top of the ladder.
Oregon will improve to 10-1 on the season with a win over Arizona State and Nix could wrap up the Heisman next week with a solid performance against Oregon State to close out he regular season.
Heisman Trophy 2023 Odds: Bo Nix, Jayden Daniels, Marvin Harrison Jr. Among Favorites

The Heisman Trophy race seems to be a four-player contest as the college football season hits the stretch run.
According to DraftKings Sportsbook, Oregon quarterback Bo Nix is the favorite at +110 (bet $100 to win $110). He is followed by LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels (+320), Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. (+380) and Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. (+475).
Those are the only four players with lower odds than Georgia quarterback Carson Beck and Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe, who are well behind at +4000 and +5000, respectively:
1. Bo Nix, +110
2. Jayden Daniels, +320
3. Michael Penix Jr., +380
4. Marvin Harrison Jr., +475
5. Carson Beck, +4000
6. Jalen Milroe, +5000
USC quarterback Caleb Williams, who won it last season, is all but out of the race at +20000.
While Nix holds the current lead, the nature of this season's schedule means the award is still very much up in the air.
Nix and Penix are on track to meet each other again in the Pac-12 Championship Game if the Ducks and Huskies continue to take care of business. That game could be for a spot in the College Football Playoff, and either quarterback could propel himself to the top of the list with a transcendent performance.
Harrison could do the same with a dominant showing in the highly anticipated rivalry clash with Michigan. The Ohio State wide receiver had three touchdowns in Saturday's win against Michigan State and may end up being the No. 1 overall pick of the 2024 NFL draft if he continues to overwhelm opposing defenses.
The Heisman, much like the four CFP spots, is still up for grabs in what should should be a thrilling conclusion to the season.
