Cowboys' Dak Prescott Doing a 'Hell of a Job' with Injury Rehab, Stephen Jones Says
Paul Kasabian
Mar 30, 2025
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is working his way back from a hamstring injury this offseason and seems to be on the right track.
"Dak's doing great," Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said, per Todd Archer of ESPN. "He's very thrilled with where he is, and I know the trainers are too. I feel like he's doing a hell of a job."
Jones also said Prescott will likely have "some limitations" during the offseason program as he prepares for 2025.
Prescott suffered a partial avulsion of his right hamstring tendon (partial tear off from the bone) during his team's 27-21 road loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Nov. 3.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones reported two days later on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas (h/t Archer) that his prognosis was good.
"It's a more common injury in hockey, and he's got doctors that are very familiar with how to repair that," Jones said. "And his prognosis is wonderful. It just means that we're not going to have him the rest of the year."
The former Mississippi State star only played five games in 2020 due to a dislocation and compound fracture of his right ankle suffered on Oct. 11 against the New York Giants.
He also sat five games in 2022 because of a broken right thumb suffered in Week 1 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The hamstring injury ultimately cost Prescott nine games. He finished the season with 1,978 passing yards, 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions on a 64.7 completion rate.
Prescott signed a four-year, $240 million contract extension ($231 million guaranteed, and an $80 million signing bonus) before the season. He's a three-time Pro Bowler who's led Dallas to the playoffs five times in his nine seasons. Prescott has also thrown for 31,437 yards and 213 touchdowns, including an NFL-high 36 in 2023.
Cooper Kupp Cut by Rams After NFL Trade Rumors; Latest Details on Salary Cap Impact
Scott Polacek
Mar 12, 2025
Cooper Kupp's time with the Los Angeles Rams has ended via release instead of trade.
Rams now officially have released WR Cooper Kupp. They are designating Cooper Kupp as a post-June 1 cut, keeping his $29.78M cap hit until June. At that point, they will take on dead cap hits of $14.78M in 2025 and $7.48M in 2026 while creating $15M in cap space.
Los Angeles informed the wide receiver that he would be released earlier on Wednesday, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
Pelissero added that the Rams made attempts to trade Kupp but ultimately decided to let him go "with no one willing to give up compensation and take on" his costly contract, which includes cap hits of $29.8 million this year and $27.3 million in 2026.
I know of 3 teams that are interested in Cooper Kupp. The question is what it will cost to sign him and what he and his reps are looking for $ wise. He certainly will be motivated and has good football left in the tank.
It became clear this offseason that Los Angeles would move on from the veteran wide receiver when he took to social media on Feb. 3 and revealed: "I was informed that the team will be seeking a trade immediately and will be working with me and my family to find the right place to continue competing for championships. I don't agree with the decision and always believed it was going to begin and end in LA."

I was informed that the team will be seeking a trade immediately and will be working with me and my family to find the right place to continue competing for championships. I don’t agree with the decision and always believed it was going to begin and end in LA.
However, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported in March that "the question, though, is is there enough interest to do a trade where a team will take on his full salary? If not, it certainly seems a possibility for the Rams would be cutting Cooper Kupp and then moving on."
ESPN's Adam Schefter also reported on March 10 that Los Angeles planned on releasing Kupp assuming no trade materialized.
Ad Placeholder
Cutting him was the ultimate move, ending a saga that dated back to the 2024 season when Dianna Russini, Mike Silver and Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reported that Los Angeles "called multiple teams" regarding a potential Kupp trade and was looking for a second-round pick in return.
The in-season reports about a possible trade came after an uneven 5-6 start to the season for the Rams, who saw Kupp (ankle) and Puka Nacua (knee) sidelined by early injuries. However, they ended up keeping Kupp and catching fire down the stretch.
Ad Placeholder
Los Angeles won five straight after that start and clinched the NFC West before Week 18. That earned it a home playoff game and made the decision to keep Kupp, who finished the campaign with 67 catches for 710 yards and six touchdowns, look like a wise one.
However, the Rams decided to release him Wednesday, just two days after they signed Davante Adams to play alongside Nacua.
That means other teams around the league will have the chance to sign someone who can be a top playmaker when healthy.
Kupp isn't far removed from one of the best wide receiver seasons in NFL history when he led the league in catches (145), receiving yards (1,947) and touchdown catches (16) as the Offensive Player of the Year in 2021.
As if that wasn't enough, he won Super Bowl LVI MVP with eight catches for 92 yards and two touchdowns in the Rams' victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.
He has struggled with durability since then and appeared in nine games in 2022, 12 games in 2023 and 12 games in 2024. Whatever team signs him will surely hope he can remain on the field and replicate some of those 2021 numbers as it chases a playoff spot.
Report: Myles Garrett, Browns Sign $40M AAV Contract; Non-QB Record After Trade Demand

The Cleveland Browns are keeping their top defender for the foreseeable future.

We've agreed to terms on a 4-year extension with Myles Garrett!
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Sunday that Cleveland and Myles Garrett agreed to a new deal that will make him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history. The contract will pay him an average-annual value of $40 million and feature $123.5 million in guarantees.
It also includes a no-trade clause:
The contract also includes a no-trade clause and ties Garrett to the Browns through the 2030 season. The path from Cleveland to Canton is back on as Garrett continues his pursuit of a championship for the team that drafted No. 1 overall in 2017. https://t.co/273Tuwt02T
Garrett, who was previously set to hit unrestricted free agency after the 2026 season, requested a trade from the Browns on Feb. 3, per Rapoport.

He wrote in a statement shared by Rapoport that his "desire to win and compete on the biggest stages won't allow me to be complacent" by playing on a team not in contention for a Super Bowl.
The Browns apparently convinced Garrett the team could become competitive enough for his recommitment to playing in Cleveland.
The new contract comes after Garrett followed up his 2023 Defensive Player of the Year campaign by posting 14.0 sacks and leading the NFL with 22 tackles for loss in 2024.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski told reporters after the 2024 season he didn't see how Garrett wasn't "the best defensive player in the National Football League again," and general manager Andrew Berry said the Browns wouldn't consider trading Garrett even if offered two first-round picks in exchange.
After consistently describing Garrett as the NFL's best defender, the Browns had to pay him like one.
Cleveland is hoping this contract will be worth it to keep a defender who has missed just two games over the last four seasons, while recording at least 14.0 sacks and 17 tackles for loss in all four campaigns.

The Browns will now look to build around Garrett with their selections the 2025 NFL Draft. Cleveland, which holds the No. 2 pick, is in need of a quarterback after Deshaun Watson's second Achilles tear.
The franchise also holds eight additional picks in the draft, including the first selection of the second round. Garrett will hope the Browns use those picks to take the next step toward contending.
Davante Adams Released by Jets amid Aaron Rodgers Rumors, NFL Trade Buzz
Julia Stumbaugh
Mar 4, 2025
Wide receiver Davante Adams is on the move again after half a season with the New York Jets.
The Jets released Adams on Tuesday, clearing the way for him to sign with a new team when free agency begins next week.NFL Network's Ian Rapoport first reported the Jets were moving on from Adams.
Rapoport also previously reported the Jets were taking trade calls on Adams.
While the assumption has been that Davante Adams wants to play with Aaron Rodgers (and historically, that's been the plan), my understanding is the pull of being on the West Coast is very real. https://t.co/FpUrl43vPh
The Jets traded a conditional third-round selection to the Las Vegas Raiders to pick up that contract in October.
Ad Placeholder
The trade reunited Adams with veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers after the two spent eight seasons playing together with the Green Bay Packers.
Adams earned five straight Pro Bowl nominations during that span before he was traded to the Raiders in 2022, where he received another Pro Bowl nod as a target for Derek Carr.
Although the Rodgers-Adams duo did not find the same level of offensive chemistry they enjoyed in Green Bay, Adams posted 67 catches for 854 yards and seven touchdowns while serving as Rodgers' top target for the final 11 games of the season.

Rodgers' departure from the team ahead of the 2025 season seemingly expedited a divorce between Adams and the Jets.
Adams will have no shortage of suitors in free agency.
NFL News: Osa Odighizuwa, Cowboys Agree to 4-Year, $80M Contract, Avoid Franchise Tag
Andrew Peters
Mar 4, 2025
Osa Odighizuwa is sticking with the team that drafted him four years ago.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Odighizuwa and the Dallas Cowboys agreed to terms on a four-year, $80 million contract on Tuesday to avoid the franchise tag.
Cowboys and DT Osa Odighizuwa reached agreement today on a four-year, $80 million deal that includes $58 million guaranteed and a $20 million signing bonus.
The defensive tackle was a third-round draft pick by the Cowboys in 2021 and found success early in his career. As a rookie, he logged 36 tackles, a pair of sacks and six tackles for loss.
He improved his numbers in 2022, recording 43 tackles, four sacks and eight tackles for loss before posting 46 tackles, three sacks and nine tackles for loss in 2023.

Last season, Odighizuwa logged career highs in tackles (47) and sacks (4.5) and picked up five tackles for loss. He led Dallas' defensive tackles in both sacks and tackles in a year of struggles for the Cowboys.
A career year for Odighizuwa was expected to lead to plenty of interest in free agency if he hit the open market, though that never seemed like a real possibility ahead of Tuesday's franchise-tag deadline.
The #Cowboys had planned to franchise tag Osa Odighizuwa at $25M on a 1-year deal. Instead, he takes a multi-year deal to stay in Dallas. https://t.co/MxvGI69qMj
Heading into the offseason, Pro Football Focus listed him as No. 15 on its list of top pending free agents. He was No. 1 among interior defensive linemen.
Odighizuwa still has some work to do to improve his game, mainly as a pass-rusher, but Year 5 could see him emerge as an All-Pro candidate.
The Cowboys dealt with numerous defensive injuries amid a 7-10 season, but Odighizuwa was one player who remained consistent. Now, they'll get at least four more years to watch him shine.
Steelers DB Doesn't Want Aaron Rodgers at QB: 'Leave His Ass at the Retirement Home'
Doric Sam
Feb 12, 2025
Amid speculation that the Pittsburgh Steelers could be a potential landing spot for veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers following his impending departure from the New York Jets, at least one player isn't interested in his services.
Steelers safety DeShon Elliott commented on an Instagram post and made it clear that he doesn't want Rodgers as Pittsburgh's new quarterback in 2025, writing, "Leave his ass at the retirement home."
The Steelers are facing uncertainty at the quarterback position, as Russell Wilson and Justin Fields are both set to test free agency this offseason. Still, Elliott appears steadfast in his belief that Rodgers is not the answer.
Elliott got an up-close look at Rodgers this past season when New York visited Pittsburgh in Week 7. The 40-year-old threw for 276 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions as the Jets suffered a demoralizing 37-15 loss in front of a national audience on Sunday Night Football.
Perhaps Elliott is correct in his belief that Rodgers isn't the right choice for Pittsburgh's next quarterback, but the team will have to figure out its best option as it prepares for another potential playoff run in 2025.
Eagles DB: Jalen Hurts Is 'Best in the World' and Super Bowl Speech Was 'Unbelievable'
Joseph Zucker
Feb 12, 2025
Philadelphia Eagles defensive back Sydney Brown labeled quarterback Jalen Hurts the "best in the world" following the team's Super Bowl LIX triumph over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Hurts went 17-of-22 for 221 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in Philly's 40-22 victory, earning the game's MVP.
Brown told ESPN's Tim McManus the two-time Pro Bowler's contributions went beyond the field. On the Saturday night before the Super Bowl, Hurts was among the Eagles players to rally the squad at the team hotel.
"I don't know how to explain the emotion that Jalen had in his speech," Brown said to McManus. "It was unbelievable. There's a reason why he won Super Bowl MVP. He's the best in the world."
Ad Placeholder
Winning the Super Bowl was a validating moment for Hurts. As the confetti was falling at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Jordan Brand released an ad that referenced the longstanding skepticism toward the 26-year-old as it saluted his achievement.
No longer will Hurts have to face the question of whether he can be the starting quarterback on a Super Bowl champion, having previously come up short against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs once before.
However, some would still push back at the notion Hurts is now the "best in the world," since that title can remain with Mahomes even though he lost.
But becoming a Super Bowl champion means you get to talk your talk, so nobody should begrudge Brown too much for the lavish praise toward his teammate.
Travis Kelce: 'Wasn't the Best Leader That I Could Be' in Super Bowl Loss to Eagles
Adam Wells
Feb 12, 2025
Travis Kelce is shouldering some of the blame for the Kansas City Chiefs' 40-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 59.
On the latest episode of the New Heightspodcast, Kelce said he "wasn't the best leader that I could be" in the game to keep his teammates "calm, cool, collected" when things started to spiral out of control.
After a few days to process it, Travis reflected on Super Bowl LIX
It's hard to know what anyone might have been able to do for the Chiefs to stop the snowball from rolling down the hill. The game was really only competitive into the second quarter, but after A.J. Brown's touchdown catch late in the first half made it 24-0, there didn't seem to be much of a path for Kansas City.
The Eagles were manhandling the Chiefs in the trenches on both sides of the ball. They sacked Patrick Mahomes six times, his most in a single game in his NFL career during the regular season or playoffs.
Mahomes threw a pick-six to Cooper DeJean midway through the second quarter that was as bad a pass as he has attempted in his pro career.
Kelce hasn't made any decisions about his playing future right now, but he struggled to make any sort of impact in the past two playoff games. He combined for a total of 58 yards on six receptions between the AFC Championship Game and Super Bowl.
There are still glimmers of the player Kelce was at his peak. He had a season-high 117 receiving yards and one touchdown in the AFC Divisional Round win over the Houston Texans.
After Rashee Rice suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 4, the Chiefs really struggled to find a reliable receiving option for Mahomes. They tried to patch things together by acquiring DeAndre Hopkins and getting Marquise Brown back from a shoulder injury.
Xavier Worthy did flash a lot of promise as a rookie, including racking up 157 yards and two touchdowns against the Eagles. He might enter 2025 as the No. 1 option for Mahomes, but it's clear from Kansas City's performance throughout this season that some changes need to be made.
Despite finishing tied with the Detroit Lions for most wins in the NFL this season (15-2), the Chiefs had just the 11th-best scoring differential at plus-59. They were getting by with a lot of smoke and mirrors for a long time before things came crashing down on the biggest stage in the sport.
Video: Dak Prescott Says Cowboys Are 'Very Close' to Stacking Up with Eagles
Julia Stumbaugh
Feb 11, 2025
Dak Prescott believes the Dallas Cowboys are "very close" to being on the same level as the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.
"I feel like we compete with the Eagles. We beat them, for the most part, when we played them," Prescott said Tuesday (h/t The Athletic's Jon Machota.) "I don't want to say, 'Check the record,' when the other guy's holding a trophy right now. So credit to them, they've earned it, and they deserve it, by all means.
Dak Prescott said he believes the Cowboys are “very close” when asked about how they stack up against the Philadelphia Eagles pic.twitter.com/dzZE8qLZdX
"But yeah, very close. Even watch the NFC game, the NFC Championship. Those two teams, that we battle against each and every year, a couple of times. As I said, feel confident we've gotten the better part, each and every time. To see them in a such a dominating fashion, credit to them. It's our turn, and it's on us."

The Cowboys face a steep climb back up NFC East standings after the division rival Eagles and Washington Commanders both made it to the conference championship game in January.
Prescott last played in Week 8 of the 2024 campaign before undergoing season-ending hamstring surgery in November.
The Cowboys quarterback, who will be playing next season in the first year of his $240 million contract, indicated in December he plans to rejoin the team for April workouts.
When exactly Prescott will be returning isn't the only question the Cowboys need to answer this offseason.
Ad Placeholder
After parting ways with Mike McCarthy this offseason, the Cowboys will head into the 2025 campaign under a first-time head coach in former offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer.
The team also has yet to lock down a backup quarterback for Prescott with Cooper Rush, who started eight games in Prescott's absence last season, hitting free agency this spring.
Ad Placeholder
Other free agency questions surround running back Rico Dowdle, cornerback Jourdan Lewis and defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence. Veteran guard Zack Martin could consider retirement. And star linebacker Micah Parsons is in need of an extension.
Both the Eagles, who are bringing back Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley next season, and the Commanders, who will get a chance to build a stronger offensive line around Jayden Daniels this spring, will expect to contend again next season.
The Cowboys were missing Prescott when the team went 1-3 against the Commanders and Eagles in 2024. Even with him back for the 2025 season, however, Dallas will need to answer some pressing questions this offseason in order to guarantee a shot at a better division record next fall.
Eagles' Dallas Goedert Talks Super Bowl, Saquon, Jalen Hurts, More in B/R Interview
Scott Polacek
Feb 11, 2025
Winning a Super Bowl hasn't sunk in yet for Dallas Goedert.
But he likes the way it sounds.
"Being a Super Bowl champion still doesn't feel real," the Philadelphia Eagles tight end told Bleacher Report on Tuesday. "But I like when people say Super Bowl champion Dallas Goedert. It's got a nice ring to it."
There is something special about reaching the sport's mountaintop with the NFL team that drafted you, and that is now reality for Goedert. The 2018 second-round pick out of South Dakota State has been with the Eagles his entire career and captured the Lombardi Trophy in his seventh year.
Ad Placeholder
While he has been overshadowed by other tight ends around the league at times, he has long been a critical piece of Philadelphia's aerial attack with five seasons of more than 500 receiving yards.
He took advantage of his opportunities in an offense that was loaded with playmakers in Saquon Barkley, A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith and Jalen Hurts with 42 catches for 496 yards and two touchdowns this season as he accomplished the NFL's ultimate goal in something of a full-circle moment.
Ad Placeholder
"I got drafted the year after the Eagles won the Super Bowl, so I came in here and was like, 'man, we're going to win the Super Bowl every year,'" Goedert said. "Seven years later it's my first one, so it's not as easy as I thought it was going to be.
"But it's incredible. Being in Philadelphia for seven years, the incredible city that it is, the passionate fans, it seems like every week is a home game because they travel so well and care so much about us. It's just awesome being able to bring the Lombardi Trophy back to a city that deserves it so much."
Ad Placeholder
Goedert helped bring that trophy home by being at his best in some of the biggest moments.
He scored a touchdown in the NFC Wild Card Round win over the Green Bay Packers and then posted a team-high seven catches for 85 yards in the NFC Championship Game win over the Washington Commanders.
Ad Placeholder
While Goedert's final stat line in Sunday's Super Bowl win over the Kansas City Chiefs didn't jump off the page with two catches for 27 yards, he jumpstarted much of his team's offensive momentum in the 40-22 victory.
After both teams traded punts on the opening two possessions, Goedert hauled in a 20-yard reception to move into Kansas City territory and then drew an unnecessary roughness penalty to keep the drive alive. It was the first important sequence of the game during a drive that ended with Hurts scoring the initial touchdown.
"It always feels good to be involved. Selfishly, the catch and run and the penalty that came after helped us get that first score, so I'll take credit for it as much as I can," he said while laughing. "I can't wait to show everybody that play because having a catch in the Super Bowl is special."
Over the middle is a wide open Dallas Goedert for a pickup of 20 yards
That catch also helped Goedert's Eagles finally get over the hump.
They were coming off a championship when they drafted him and reached the playoffs in six of his seven seasons—including when they reached Super Bowl LVII two years ago—but Sunday marked his first Lombardi Trophy.
Ad Placeholder
So when did he know this year's group was special enough to accomplish the goal?
"It goes back, when we made the Super Bowl run two years ago, I remember the A.J. Brown trade and hearing the news," he said. "Once he got there it was like, 'man, we have a special team, we have a chance to do something special.' But we fell a little bit short.
Ad Placeholder
"It was the same thing in free agency, we had a lot of great signings, but the one that stands out is Saquon Barkley. When we got him, I knew he filled a piece that we were missing at the time. Obviously, he didn't disappoint and put on a show all year. That was when I knew we had a chance even though there was a little adversity starting 2-2 going into the bye week. But the bye week was good, we reflected and said, 'we have too good of a team to be doing this.' And we were able to go on a winning streak and get the job done."
Ad Placeholder
Getting the job done also gives Goedert a larger platform to discuss some of the struggles he has faced with plaque psoriasis for much of his life.
He partnered with Amgen to spread awareness of the common, autoimmune condition that impacts more than six million adults in the United States and shared even more of his story on DallasGStory.com.
Ad Placeholder
"Since I was about 10 years old I suffered with plaque psoriasis, which caused flaky rough patches on the skin," Goedert said. "For me, being a football player, it can be tough because you're in the locker room and everybody sees it. I always tried to cover it up, but you can't do that in the locker room.
Ad Placeholder
"I tried putting topicals on it, but that was always hard with my lifestyle. … I was able to get in contact with Amgen and find something that worked for me and works from the inside out. It's been a game-changer.
"I just want to use this platform to help everybody I can who is going through the same issues."
On the field, Goedert was also facing a familiar obstacle with the Chiefs on the other sideline in Sunday's Super Bowl. After all, it was Kansas City that defeated the Eagles 38-35 in a back-and-forth contest in the Super Bowl just two years ago.
Ad Placeholder
It was much different this time around, and Goedert said the chance to defeat the same team that prevented his last chance at a championship was "absolutely" a motivating factor.
"Losing the Super Bowl was tough for everybody on the team," he said. "You never expect to lose that game. When the clock hits zero, you're stunned and feel empty. So having the opportunity to play them again, we wanted to make sure that didn't happen. Everybody had that extra bit of motivation. We knew how it felt, whether you were there or not, we talked about it enough. Everybody wanted to get it done for ourselves and for everyone in Philadelphia."
One major difference for this year's team compared to the one that lost the Super Bowl and the one that struggled down the stretch of the 2023 campaign was the addition of Barkley.
All he did was nearly break Eric Dickerson's single-season rushing record of 2,105 yards with 2,005 rushing yards, 278 receiving yards and 15 total touchdowns on his way to the Offensive Player of the Year.
His incredible performances didn't stop with the regular season, as Barkley ran for 205 yards and two touchdowns in the NFC Divisional Round win over the Los Angeles Rams and 118 yards and three touchdowns in the NFC Championship Game win over the Commanders.
SAQUON BARKLEY 60 YARD TD ON THE EAGLES FIRST PLAY 🤯😱
Goedert joked that he found himself watching replays of Barkley's incredible plays on the scoreboard "way too often" as his season progressed.
"I got the pleasure of blocking for him, so a lot of times I don't get to see what happened live," he said. "So I'm locked into the screen because you never know when he's going to take it 60 or 70 yards to the house. I enjoy watching film just because of that. I'll see him find these holes that aren't even there. It's been incredible having him, and, as great of a player he is, he's an even better person, which makes it even more special."
Barkley was largely unstoppable this season, but it was Hurts who took home the Super Bowl MVP by throwing for 221 yards and two touchdowns to go with a game-high 72 yards and a score on the ground.
He was the better quarterback for the majority of a game that also included an all-time great in Patrick Mahomes, which was all the more notable for someone who has faced scrutiny and questions about his overall ceiling and ability to be an elite thrower during his career.
"Jalen doesn't care about his personal stats, which sometimes makes it tough because the media loves to see a quarterback throw it 40 times and have lots of yards and touchdowns," Goedert said.
"But all he cares about is winning. He'll do whatever he can to help the team, whether it's making plays or handing the ball off so other people can do it. That's the cool thing about him. Winning this one for him was incredible, but I hope they keep doubting him because he loves to prove people wrong."
Eagles fans would surely love for Hurts to keep proving the doubters wrong by going back-to-back next year.
