Jurgens: 'It Took F--king Everything' to Play vs. Commanders, Will Play in Super Bowl

Competing in the NFC title game required a big physical effort from Philadelphia Eagles center Cam Jurgens, but he expects to be good to go for Super Bowl LIX on Feb. 9.

"It took f--king everything," Jurgens told reporters of playing in Sunday's 55-23 win over the Washington Commanders. "It was a strange week. It was a long week, but it was a great f--king day."

The Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane reported Saturday the 25-year-old was going to be sidelined for the conference championship due to a back injury. However, the team confirmed 90 minutes before kickoff he was active.

Jurgens was on the field for 27 offensive snaps and four special teams plays. Landon Dickerson started at center in the Pro Bowler's usual spot.

After the game, Jurgens said that "I'll be ready to go" for the Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs. The extended layoff between games will certainly aid in his recovery.

Throughout the season, the New York Giants have been a regular source of mockery with running back Saquon Barkley going for 2,005 yards on the ground. Time and again the Giants have had to relive their discussions over whether to retain Barkley, deciding ultimately to let him leave.

But the simple fact is that the 27-year-old wouldn't have enjoyed this kind of success if he had stayed in New York. Jurgens, who seamlessly replaced franchise legend Jason Kelce, has helped the Eagles maintain an elite run-blocking unit.

Barkley and the running game figure to be an integral part of Philly's offensive game plan when the Eagles attempt to end Kansas City's three-peat bid. Even if he's not all the way back to 100 percent, having Jurgens available in the middle of the line will be a big luxury.

Saquon Barkley Says Eagles Gave Commanders 'a Dummy Call and It Worked to Perfection'

Saquon Barkley revealed that the Philadelphia Eagles fooled the Washington Commanders defense prior to the snap on the team's first play from scrimmage on Sunday.

"When you play a team two or three times, they kind of get a bead on some of your stuff," Barkley said following the Eagles' 55-23 win, per Brooks Kubena of The Athletic. "We gave them a dummy call and it worked to perfection."

After the star running back picked up 296 rushing yards and four touchdowns while averaging 5.4 yards per carry against Philadelphia's NFC East rival during the regular season, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said they figured Washington would "sell out against the run" in their NFC Championship Game clash (via Kubena).

As Philadelphia lined up for its first play of the game, the Commanders put eight defenders in the box. Quarterback Jalen Hurts pretended to call an audible after moving under center, but he ended up giving the ball to Barkley for a 60-yard score.

Barkley thrived against the Commanders, picking up 118 yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries.

He spearheaded a dominant overall performance from Philadelphia's rushing attack, amassing 229 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground as a team.

While the Eagles narrowly outscored the Commanders 59-54 in their two regular-season meetings, they took an early double-digit lead in the first quarter on Sunday before pulling away in the second half and cruising to their second NFC title in three years.

Barkley has been a major reason for Philadelphia's successful 2024 campaign, rushing for a league-leading 2,005 yards and 13 touchdowns while averaging 5.8 yards per attempt during the regular season. He was named an MVP finalist on Thursday.

The Eagles were aware of Washington's desire to stop Barkley, so they used some pre-snap trickery to get off to a strong start in Sunday's playoff clash.

A driver struck multiple pedestrians in Philadelphia on Sunday night as the city was celebrating the Philadelphia Eagles' 55-23 victory over the Washington Commanders in the NFC title game.

The Philadelphia Police Department said it placed a suspect into custody and that the crash "does not appear intentional at this time."

According to the Associated Press, at least three people suffered "non-life-threatening" injuries. The incident happened around 9:30 p.m. ET in the Center City neighborhood of Philadelphia.

David Chang and Miguel Martinez-Valle of NBC10 Philadelphia cited an eyewitness who said the driver was traveling on the sidewalk and "arguing with some people" shortly before the accident.

The Eagles advanced to the Super Bowl for the second time in three years by dominating their division rival.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts went 20-of-28 for 246 yards and one touchdown through the air, also scoring three touchdowns on the ground. Running back Saquon Barkley added to his historic season by running for 118 yards and three scores himself.

Philly will meet the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX on Feb. 9, a rematch of their battle from two seasons ago, when the Chiefs won 38-35 thanks to a Harrison Butker field goal with eight seconds remaining.

After Jalen Hurts threw for 246 yards and one touchdown and notched three rushing scores in the Philadelphia Eagles' 55-23 NFC Championship Game win on Sunday, head coach Nick Sirianni told the nation not to "doubt" the 26-year-old.

"How about our quarterback? How about our quarterback! He's a stud," Sirianni told reporters after the game. "I knew he was going to play that way. I knew it. Don't doubt him. All he does is win."

The quarterback and coach combo of Hurts and Sirianni are the first in Eagles history to reach two Super Bowls, per the Associated Press' Rob Maadi. With the addition of star running back Saquon Barkley, who finished with 118 yards and three touchdowns on Sunday, the Eagles are heading to their second title game in just three seasons.

On his way to leading the Eagles to Super Bowl LIX, Hurts set several records along the way.

He recorded the most rushing touchdowns (nine) in NFL playoff history by a quarterback. Additionally, he became the first player in history to record multiple games with one or more passing touchdowns and three or more rushing touchdowns in a playoff game, per CBS Sports' Jeff Kerr.

He also tied his own record for the most rushing touchdowns in a game by a quarterback (three) and became the first quarterback with multiple games featuring three or more rushing touchdowns in the playoffs. He and Barkley are the first duo to have three or more rushing touchdowns in a game in NFL playoff history, per Kerr.

The Eagles' blazing 55 points scored are the most by any team in a conference championship game since the merger in 1970, per the Associated Press. The team also finished with a season-high in points.

All season long, Hurts has been dominant, posting 2,903 passing yards, 19 touchdowns and just five interceptions on a 65.6 quarterback rating, which ranks 10th in the league.

Following his impressive victory, the 2020 second-round pick will look to grab his first Super Bowl win.

Saquon Barkley isn't satisfied with just making a Super Bowl 59 appearance.

"The dream wasn't just getting there, the dream was winning it," Barkley said after the Philadelphia Eagles' 55-23 win over the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday. "That's where the mindset's at."

The 27-year-old rushed for a game-high 118 yards on 15 carries against the Commanders, scoring three touchdowns. He set the tone early with a 60-yard score on Philadelphia's first play from scrimmage.

Barkley and Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts both scored three rushing touchdowns, becoming the first teammates in NFL history to achieve the feat during a playoff game.

Philadelphia jumped out to an early 14-7 lead and took a 12-point advantage into halftime. The Eagles and Commanders traded touchdowns in the third quarter before Philadelphia found the end zone three times in the fourth to put the game away.

Barkley wrapped up an incredible regular season in 2024, rushing for a league-leading 2,005 yards on 345 attempts. He added 278 yards as a receiver and scored 15 total touchdowns, which were tied for No. 7 in the NFL.

He earned a Pro Bowl nod to go along with an AP All-Pro First Team selection and was also named an MVP finalist on Thursday.

Barkley has been nearly unstoppable on the ground during Philadelphia's postseason run, amassing 442 rush yards and five touchdowns in three playoff games.

The Eagles have advanced to their second Super Bowl in three years and will now face off against the winner of Sunday night's AFC Championship Game clash between the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills.

While Barkley will be making the first Super Bowl appearance of his career, he still has his sights set on hoisting the Lombardi Trophy.

Philadelphia Eagles star running back Saquon Barkley's pockets got even fatter after he helped his team clinch a spot in Super Bowl LIX.

Following the Eagles' 55-23 win over the Washington Commanders in Sunday's NFC Championship Game, Barkley received the $250,000 bonus incentive in his contract. He will earn another $250,000 if Philadelphia wins the Super Bowl title.

Sunday's bonus is on top of the $1.5 million Barkley earned in performance incentives, as well as the $500,000 for his first-team All-Pro selection and the $250,000 for his Pro Bowl selection. He made a base salary of $13.5 million for the 2024 season.

When Barkley departed the New York Giants to sign with the NFC East-rival Eagles, he made it clear that he wanted the chance to play for his first career championship ring. His motivation never wavered throughout the year, and he continued to perform at a high level during the postseason.

Barkley will try to cap off his incredible year in grand fashion when the Eagles take on the AFC champion in Super Bowl LIX on Feb. 9.

The Philadelphia Eagles are headed to Super Bowl 59.

The Eagles punched their ticket to a second Super Bowl appearance in three years with a lopsided 55-23 win over the Washington Commanders in their NFC Championship Game clash on Sunday.

Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley set the tone early, helping Philadelphia take a 14-3 lead in the first quarter and maintain a 27-15 advantage at halftime. The Commanders weren't able to pull within one score throughout the duration of the second half.

Hurts looked sharp during the contest despite dealing with a knee injury, finishing 20-of-28 for 246 yards and one touchdown without turning the ball over.

He also picked up three more scores on the ground, as the Commanders couldn't figure out how to stop the Eagles in short-yardage situations.

Hurts reached nine career postseason rushing touchdowns, the most by a quarterback in NFL history.

Fans and pundits were amazed by his performance.

Barkley got off to a hot start with his 60-yard rushing touchdown on the Eagles' first play from scrimmage, but he didn't stop there. The MVP finalist ended the game with 118 yards on 15 carries, scoring three touchdowns.

Philadelphia became the second team in NFL history to rack up seven touchdowns on the ground in a playoff game (h/t Yahoo Sports' Jori Epstein). Hurts and Barkley also established themselves as the first pair of teammates to both record three rushing touchdowns in the same postseason contest.

Fans and players alike praised the three-time Pro Bowl running back for his performance.

The Commanders picked up 22 first downs and amassed 350 total yards, but they were plagued by ball security issues during the loss. Washington committed four turnovers, losing a fumble in each of the first three quarters of the game.

After a disappointing playoff loss in the Wild Card round to end the team's 2023 season, Philadelphia is now headed back to the Super Bowl.

The Eagles will await the winner of Sunday's AFC Championship Game clash between the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs for a chance to hoist their second Lombardi Trophy in franchise history.

The Philadelphia Eagles had Super Bowl LII MVP Nick Foles in the house during Sunday's blowout win over the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship Game.

And when cameras panned to Foles, Fox Sports announcer Tom Brady—who was bested by the Birds in Super Bowl LII—had a bit of fun with the situation.

"Nick, I don't hate you," Brady said while laughing. "I'm just jealous of you. You caught it! I didn't."

Brady was referencing two key plays from that matchup—the famous Philly Special trick play, with Foles catching a touchdown pass on a fourth-down conversion, and Brady dropping his own potential reception on a New England gadget play.

It was a bit of levity from the famously competitive Brady and a fun memory for Eagles fans who were already celebrating another trip to the Super Bowl.
