Ja'Marr Chase: I'm Not Chiefs Fan, Hope Saquon Rushes for 200 Yards in Super Bowl 59

Ja'Marr Chase has made his pick for Super Bowl LIX clear.

The Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver is rooting for a strong performance from Philadelphia Eagles star Saquon Barkley against the Kansas City Chiefs.

"Everyone knows I'm not a KC fan, so I'm hoping Saquon rushes for like 200 this game," Chase said in an interview on NFL Live (1:24 mark).

"I think overall, it'll be a great game just because both sides has great players on each side," he added.

Chase has leaned into the AFC rivalry between the Bengals and Chiefs, previously refusing to say Patrick Mahomes' name during an interview for the NFL's top 100 players for the 2024 season.

Cincinnati and Kansas City have faced off six times since Chase was drafted in 2021, with each team winning three games. The Bengals were the last team to eliminate the Chiefs in the playoffs during the 2021 season, but Kansas City has emerged victorious in each of the past three matchups between the two teams.

The Eagles will be attempting to prevent the Chiefs from winning their third straight Super Bowl title, led by an offense headlined by Barkley and quarterback Jalen Hurts.

The running back has blown past expectations in 2024, rushing for a league-leading 2,005 yards during the regular season. Barkley has continued to dominate in the playoffs, picking up 442 yards and five touchdowns on the ground in three postseason contests.

As the Eagles look to hoist their second Lombardi Trophy, Chase will be supporting them.

Jalen Hurts Has 'Moved on' from Eagles' Super Bowl Loss to Chiefs Ahead of Rematch

Ahead of a Super Bowl clash with the Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts hasn't reminisced about the last meeting between the two teams in the title game.

When asked on Friday about getting over the Eagles' 38-35 loss to the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII, Hurts was blunt.

"I moved on," Hurts said.

Philadelphia finished 14-3 in 2022, scoring at least 30 points and allowing fewer than seven points in both NFC playoff matchups before narrowly falling to Kansas City.

The Eagles held a six-point lead heading into the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl clash, but the Chiefs responded with a pair of touchdowns before Harrison Butker kicked the game-winning field goal with 11 seconds left in regulation.

A last-second heave towards the end zone from Hurts fell short, sealing the loss.

The Eagles have been similarly dominant in 2024, ending the regular season with an identical 14-3 mark. They're also coming off a strong postseason run that culminated with an NFC title, outscoring their three opponents 105-55.

Hurts has stepped up in the playoffs once again, completing 69.6 percent of his throws for 505 yards and three touchdowns without getting picked off through three games. He's also rushed for 122 yards and found the end zone four times on the ground.

The 26-year-old will need to stay sharp against a Chiefs team that owned the fourth-best scoring defense in the NFL during the regular season, allowing just 19.2 points per game.

While the Super Bowl LVII loss may not be in the back of Hurts' mind anymore, he'll still be looking to avenge the prior defeat and help the Eagles win their second Lombardi Trophy in franchise history.

Kickoff between Kansas City and Philadelphia in Super Bowl LIX is on Feb. 9 at 6:30 p.m. ET.

Eagles' Jalen Hurts: 'I Was Just Joking Around' with Sirianni 'Straitjacket' Remark

Jalen Hurts turned some heads with a postgame comment he made about head coach Nick Sirianni letting him out of his "straitjacket" during the NFC Championship Game, but to hear him tell it, he was just having some fun.

"I was just joking around after the game," the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback told reporters Friday.

As Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia relayed, Hurts was asked about playing for the head coach following the win over the Washington Commanders and said, "he's done a great job. I guess he let me out of my straitjacket a little bit today."

Hurts threw 28 times against the Commanders, his most passing attempts in three playoff games this year and tied for his second-most attempts since September. He was also effective while doing so, going 21-of-28 for 246 yards, one touchdown and zero interceptions to go with three rushing touchdowns.

"Yeah, I think he was having fun after the game," Sirianni said Tuesday. "We've been winning a couple different ways this year. I think he was just having fun after the game. I know this, and he's said this plenty of times: He doesn't care how we win. I don't care how we win, as long as we win."

Hurts attempted 361 passes this season compared to 538 during the 2023 campaign, but there was a major difference for this year's Philadelphia squad.

It had arguably the best running back in the NFL in Saquon Barkley.

Having someone like Barkley will dramatically change the strategy for any offense, and it's hard to argue with the results since the Eagles will face the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl.

If they win, perhaps Hurts can joke around again about his head coach and the offensive strategy after the game.

Eagles' Brandon Graham Returns to Practice amid Injury Rehab Ahead of Super Bowl 59

As the Philadelphia Eagles prepare for Super Bowl LIX against the Kansas City Chiefs, they could get one of their defensive leaders back in the lineup.

The Eagles announced on Thursday that they've opened the practice window for veteran linebacker Brandon Graham, who hasn't played since suffering a torn triceps on Nov. 24.

Graham was placed on injured reserve after tearing his triceps in a 37-20 win over the Los Angeles Rams in Week 12. While it was initially believed that he would miss the rest of the season, Philadelphia's run to the Super Bowl motivated him to continue working toward his return.

"We'll see. Tomorrow, I'll go meet up and we'll see if it's a possibility. I've been working man, but we will see," Graham said after the Eagles defeated the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship. "At the end of the day, I'm just happy we got there. Those boys scored 55 today – that's what's up – so, that might be telling me something."

Graham has spent his entire 15-year career in Philadelphia and is one of the most beloved players in team history. His strip-sack of legendary quarterback Tom Brady in Super Bowl LII against the New England Patriots helped the Eagles secure their first and only Lombardi Trophy.

This is the second time in the last three years that Philadelphia is meeting Kansas City in the Super Bowl. After failing to make an impact in Super Bowl LVIII, Graham will surely be hoping to contribute for the Eagles if he's able to take the field on Feb. 9 in New Orleans.

Eagles Fan, 18, Dies After Falling from Light Pole During NFC Title Game Celebration

Tyler Sabapathy, an 18-year-old gymnast and student at Temple University, died as a result of injuries sustained during celebrations in the city of Philadelphia after the Eagles defeated the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship Game last Sunday.

Per Sharrie Williams of ABC 6 in Philadelphia, Sabapathy was celebrating by climbing a light pole on Market St. and 15th St. when he lost his footing and appeared to hit his head on the concrete sidewalk.

Emergency medical personnel transported Sabapathy to Jefferson Hospital with a brain injury, and he was pronounced dead on Tuesday.

Temple issued a statement about Sabapathy included in Williams' report:

"It is with deep sadness that we write to share news of the death of first-year student Tyler Sabapathy. Over the weekend, Tyler sustained critical injuries and ultimately passed away this afternoon. The loss of a promising 18-year-old man like Tyler is both tragic and traumatic. There are no words that can make sense of it, and the entire Temple community mourns his passing. Our hearts go out to Tyler's family, friends, classmates and all who knew and loved him."

Sabapathy, who is originally from Toronto, committed to Temple in February 2024. He was majoring in exercise and sports science.

The university's statement noted Sabapathy won more than 120 gymnastics medals in provincial, regional and international competitions.

Philly fans climbing light posts has been such a staple of Eagles games after big wins that the city has taken precautions to grease the poles ahead of time in an effort to prevent this from happening.

Williams noted that Philadelphia city officials didn't confirm if that was the case on Sunday in part because they don't want to release public safety tactics.

The Philadelphia Eagles will be rocking their green uniforms in their Super Bowl LIX matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs and unveiled them on Tuesday.

The main addition, of course, is the new patch near the collar of the jerseys commemorating their Super Bowl appearance.

The Chiefs, meanwhile, will be wearing their white uniforms:

The contest will be the second time in the past three seasons that the Chiefs and Eagles are facing off in the Super Bowl. Two years ago, the Chiefs won a classic matchup, 38-35, as a controversial pass interference call late in the contest allowed Kansas City to kick the game-winning field goal with no time remaining on the clock.

The game was a back-and-forth affair, highlighted by the fantastic play of both quarterbacks. Patrick Mahomes finished the game with 182 passing yards and three touchdowns while also rushing for 44 yards, while Jalen Hurts threw for 304 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 70 yards and three scores.

But Hurts also one of the game's most impactful plays, a fumble in the second quarter that was scooped up by Nick Bolton and returned for a touchdown. It was the only turnover in the contest.

The two teams also played last season, a 21-17 win for the Birds.

The Eagles have had enormous changes on both sides of the ball since that last matchup, however, with a pair of new coordinators (Kellen Moore on offense, Vic Fangio on defense) and a slew of impactful offseason additions to the roster (Saquon Barkley, Mekhi Becton, Zack Baun, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean, among others).

It's Philly's league-best defense against the best player in the sport, Mahomes. Barkley and Philly's vaunted run game against Chris Jones and the many disguised blitzes of defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo. Andy Reid against his former team.

It should be fun.

Eagles' Sirianni on Jalen Hurts' 'Straitjacket' Remark: 'I Think He Was Having Fun'

The Philadelphia Eagles trounced the Washington Commanders 55-23 in the NFC championship on Sunday behind an outstanding performance from Jalen Hurts.

The quarterback threw for 246 yards and a touchdown and added three more scores on the ground, leading to him making an interesting quip about head coach Nick Sirianni after the game.

"I guess he let me out of my straitjacket a little bit today," Hurts told reporters.

Sirianni reacted to Hurts' straitjacket comment on Tuesday, saying that his quarterback was enjoying the moment after punching a ticket to the Super Bowl.

"I think he was having fun after the game," he said, per NBC's Dave Zangaro.

It's unclear exactly what Sirianni did to let Hurts out of his "straitjacket," but it worked well for the Eagles on Sunday. Now, they have a date with the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl for the second time in three years.

Hurts and Philadelphia came close to knocking off the Chiefs in 2022, losing 38-35 as Hurts threw for 304 yards and had four total touchdowns. It appeared Hurts wasn't in any kind of "straitjacket" in that matchup, and it's hard to imagine Sirianni will ask him to hold back at all this time around.

Video: Eagles' A.J. Brown Says Commanders' Lattimore 'Engaged Me First' on Penalty

Marshon Lattimore is no stranger to stirring the pot in an attempt to get in the head of an opposing receiver, so it wasn't a surprise to see him try going after A.J. Brown in the NFC Championship Game between the Washington Commanders and Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

Appearing on Janky Rondo's Twitch Stream, Brown explained Lattimore "engaged me first" on a play late in the first half when the Eagles were attempting a two-point conversion that resulted in an unnecessary roughness penalty on the Commanders cornerback.

The Eagles were running a condensed formation because they were trying the Brotherly Shove on the conversion attempt, so Brown was lined up close to the tight end.

Lattimore was standing directly opposite Brown and when the ball was snapped, he made the initial contact that led to the Eagles receiver to push back. They briefly locked up before Brown let to to avoid falling into the trap being set.

It's a credit to the Commanders that they were able to regroup immediately to stop a second Brotherly Shove attempt to keep the score 20-12. Things fell apart on the ensuing kickoff when Jeremy McNichols fumbled, allowing Philadelphia to get another touchdown before the half.

Lattimore has a history of trying to get under the skin of the player who he will most often be matched up against. His feud with Mike Evans is the stuff of legend that dates back to Lattimore's rookie season with the New Orleans Saints in 2017.

Lattimore's tactics didn't do much to help him in coverage. He allowed 88 yards and a 109.7 passer rating in coverage, plus the personal foul penalty and a 17-yard pass interference penalty trying to cover DeVonta Smith two plays before he got tangled up with Brown.

The Eagles got the last laugh against Lattimore with a 55-23 win over the Commanders to reach the Super Bowl for the second time in three seasons.

Eagles Coach Praises Nick Sirianni as 'an Incredible Leader' After Super Bowl Berth

The Nick Sirianni glow-up has been a sight to behold.

The Philadelphia Eagles' head coach was planted firmly on the hot seat following his team's epic meltdown a season ago, though the organization decided to stick by him (albeit while basically demanding he reshuffle his coaching staff and take on more of a CEO approach to the position).

That decision proved prescient—the Eagles are headed back to the Super Bowl for the second time in Sirianni's four seasons as head coach, and people within the organization are praising the job he's done this season.

"He's a connector of people," an Eagles' staff member texted Albert Breer of SI.com. "Culture is all about playing together. The entire group is bought in, and winning and maximizing the moment we are in."

"Nick is just an incredible leader," one of his coaches added. "It's the way he connects everyone on an individual level. Love his team meetings, brings the energy and focus for our team."

Now, it can't be ignored that Howie Roseman and Philly's front office had an offseason for the ages. The team signed Saquon Barkley, Zack Baun, Mekhi Becton and C. J. Gardner-Johnson in free agency and drafted Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean. Those moves transformed both sides of the ball, and the result has been an MVP-worthy season from Barkley and the best defense in football this past season.

But Sirianni has maximized the talent he's been given. He got his coordinator hirings right with Vic Fangio and Kellen Moore. He navigated a rocky 2-2 start to the season. He has a 48–20 record with the Eagles, has made the postseason four straight times and is now in his second Super Bowl.

There are no more jokes about Sirianni's job security—the man just wins.
