Former NFL running back Marshawn Lynch has avoided jail time after accepting a plea deal in his 2022 DUI case, according to David Charns of 8 News Now.
Under terms of the plea deal, Lynch's misdemeanor DUI charge will be lowered to reckless driving if he "completes DUI school, a victim impact panel, an alcohol evaluation, 200 hours of community service and stays out of trouble for a year, documents said," per Charns.
Lynch was also ordered to pay a $1,140 fine.
"Mr. Lynch has not been convicted of any offense at his time," his attorneys, Richard Schonfeld and David Chesnoff, said in a statement. "He has agreed to complete certain requirements which will result in this case being closed as a reckless driving traffic offense."
Lynch was arrested and charged with misdemeanor counts of DUI, failing to drive in a travel lane and driving an unregistered vehicle after he was found asleep behind the wheel of an unregistered car that was deemed to be in undrivable condition near downtown Las Vegas in August 2022.
According to the arrest report (h/t ProFootballTalk's Michael David Smith), Lynch refused to take a breathalyzer. He was then forced to submit a blood sample and his blood alcohol level was measured to be more than twice the legal limit.
Lynch's attorneys had claimed that he shouldn't have been charged with any driving offense because his car was parked and not being operated. However, Nevada law says that any person sitting in the driver's seat of a vehicle is deemed "in physical control" of the vehicle.
During Lynch's playing career, he pleaded guilty to a hit-and-run charge in 2008. He also pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of reckless driving after being arrested on suspicion of DUI in 2012.
Lynch was selected by the Buffalo Bills in the first round of the 2007 draft. He spent seven of his 12 seasons with the Seahawks, with whom he won a Super Bowl title, and also played for the then-Oakland Raiders. He retired after the 2019 campaign.

Former NFL running back Marshawn Lynch promoted the upcoming video game Skull and Bones this week with a contest that allowed some fans to try out the game with him.
As seen in the following video posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, Lynch chose the fans who came through with the most convincing pirate impressions to play Skull and Bones:
Ubisoft's official website announced that an open beta of the game will allow interested parties to try it out from Feb. 8 through Feb. 11.
Skull and Bones will then officially release on Feb. 16 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
Lynch, 37, starred in the NFL for 12 seasons with the Buffalo Bills, Seattle Seahawks and Oakland Raiders, racking up 10,413 rushing yards and 85 touchdowns, plus 287 receptions for 2,214 yards and nine more scores.
Beast Mode was also a five-time Pro Bowler, one-time first-team All-Pro and one-time Super Bowl champion, putting him in line for a potential future induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Eli Manning and Marshawn Lynch are among the high-profile players who will be eligible for ballot consideration for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2025.
Other notable names who retired after the 2019 season and will therefore eligible to be considered this year include Adam Vinatieri, Earl Thomas, Luke Kuechly, Terrell Suggs and Clay Matthews III.
Manning spent 16 seasons as quarterback for the New York Giants. He is one of six players in NFL history to receive multiple Super Bowl MVP awards after leading the team to victories over the New England Patriots in Super Bowls XLII and XLVI.
One of those MVP awards came after he hauled in 255 yards and two touchdowns during Super Bowl XLII to hand the record-breaking 18-0 Patriots their first loss of the 2007 season.
Manning holds the all-time Giants records for career passing yards (57,023), completions (4,895), touchdowns (366) and wins (117).
16 years ago today, Eli Manning and the Giants took down the Patriots in Super Bowl XLII.
Lynch played for the Buffalo Bills, Seattle Seahawks and Oakland Raiders through 12 seasons, including five Pro Bowl campaigns and one All-Pro season.
Beast Mode led the NFL in rushing touchdowns in 2013 and 2014, then scored a touchdown in Super Bowl XLVIII to help the Seahawks win their first championship in franchise history.
Prior to that, Lynch made one of the most memorable runs of his career during a 2010 NFC wild-card game. The Seahawks running back rushed for 67 yards, while breaking nine tackles, to make it to the end zone in what became known as the "Beast Quake."
He retired following the 2019 season as one of 31 running backs in NFL history with more than 10,000 career rushing yards.

Vinatieri earned the nickname "Automatic Adam" during 24 seasons as a kicker for the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts.
He kicked the game-winning field goal to secure the Patriots' first Super Bowl victory in 2001, then repeated the feat in 2004. He finished his career with four Super Bowl rings as the first NFL player to record 1,000 points with two separate teams.
Earl Thomas spent nine seasons as a safety for the Seahawks, where he was named to five consecutive Pro Bowls and three straight All-Pros as part of Seattle's "Legion of Boom" defense alongside Richard Sherman, Kam Chancellor and Brandon Browner.
That group helped lead the Seahawks to one of the most lopsided Super Bowl wins in history in 2014.

Kuechly, a former Carolina Panthers linebacker, was named the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2012 after leading the NFL with 164 combined tackles, then became the youngest player in NFL history to receive the Defensive Player of the Year award the following season.
That was the first of seven straight Pro Bowl campaigns he recorded with the Panthers. During the team's run to Super Bowl 50 in 2016, the linebacker recorded a pick-six to lead Carolina to a NFC Championship victory.
Suggs spent 16 seasons as a linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens, where he earned six Pro Bowl nominations, Defensive Rookie and Defensive Player of the Year awards, and a Super Bowl title in 2012. He holds the all-time Ravens franchise record with 132.5 career sacks.
The linebacker finished out his career with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he won another Super Bowl in 2019. He currently sits eighth on the NFL's all-time sacks list with 139 career sacks, and he ranks first of all time in career tackles for loss with 202.
Matthews played 10 seasons and was named to six Pro Bowls with the Green Bay Packers, where he ranks second in franchise history with 83.5 career sacks. He played a key role with three tackles during their Super Bowl XLV win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2011.
Other notable potential candidates for consideration for the Class of 2025 are Demaryius Thomas, Vernon Davis, Aqib Talib, Marshal Yanda, Joe Staley, Ryan Kalil and Darren Sproles.
If named to the ballot and voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, these candidates would be enshrined in Canton, Ohio in 2025.
Seahawks Icon Marshawn Lynch: Aaron Rodgers is 'Best Quarterback I Ever Played With'

Former star NFL running back Marshawn Lynch offered kind words for his ex-Cal teammate, quarterback Aaron Rodgers, during an interview with Shannon Sharpe on his Club Shay Shay podcast.
Of note, Lynch said that Rodgers is the best quarterback he's ever played with (around the 4:30 mark).
Lynch suited up alongside nine-time Pro Bowler Russell Wilson from 2012-2015 and again briefly in 2019. The running back said in the same interview that he respected Wilson as a player and teammate.
He also told Sharpe a story about Rodgers coming to his defense during a 2004 spring game.
In short, Lynch (then a first-year player) got an opportunity to run with the starting unit despite the 1's possessing a star at the position already in J.J. Arrington.
Unfortunately, Lynch ran in the wrong direction on his first play. It didn't matter as Rodgers ended up handing the ball behind his back to Lynch, who turned it into a positive gain.
However, Lynch got chewed out by his running backs coach for running the wrong way to begin with. Rodgers backed up Lynch, though, by speaking to the coach and taking the blame for the mishap.
Lynch ended up having a fantastic career at Cal before moving onto the pros in 2007. The five-time Pro Bowler and one-time All-Pro won a Super Bowl with the Seahawks en route to amassing 12,627 yards from scrimmage and 94 touchdowns.
Marshawn Lynch Talks Russell Wilson's Seahawks Tenure: 'Russ Was Just a QB for Me'

Former NFL running back Marshawn Lynch has never been one to hold his tongue, but he had little to say when discussing his relationship with Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson.
The two of them were teammates with the Seattle Seahawks from 2012 to 2015, so Shannon Sharpe felt it was appropriate to ask Lynch about Wilson's exit from Seattle and his relationship with head coach Pete Carroll during a recent episode of his Club Shay Shay podcast. However, the 37-year-old revealed that he didn't feel comfortable discussing that when he didn't have much of a relationship with either of them.
"I wouldn't be the right person to speak on their relationship because I didn't f--k with them. ... I didn't f--k with Pete, and then I mean Russ was just a quarterback for me," Lynch said.
Marshawn Lynch on Russell Wilson blocking his number:
When pressed further about his off-the-field relationship with Wilson, Lynch pointed out that he knows that discussing the signal-caller conjures up memories of his goal-line interception in Super Bowl XLIX that cost the Seahawks a second straight championship. Lynch struggled to think of a time when the two of them were ever close.
"I respect Russell as a player and as a teammate. ... Anything that I say is gonna come off as malice or as if I'm a hater. ... I'll take Russell, and I'll put him right there at quarterback, and I'll rock with him, because I have done that. But as far as anything else... No, there's no, you can't pick up the phone and call ol' boy or nothing," he said.
When asked why he felt he couldn't call Wilson, Lynch revealed that he didn't even have his number. He also explained a time when he received a call from a blocked number that turned out to be Wilson, and when they ended up speaking it didn't go particularly well.
Since arriving to Denver, Wilson's lackluster play has not done much to win over teammates. The team has struggled mightily throughout his tenure, as its win over the Chicago Bears this past weekend was just its fifth victory with him as the starter.
Wilson and the Broncos will try to keep the momentum going when they meet the New York Jets on Sunday.

Intercourse, Pennsylvania has a large Amish community—and it also got a visit from five-time Pro Bowl running back Marshawn Lynch.
A preview shared by NFL on Prime Video shows Lynch riding a buggy with Amish community members in a second season of his show "'N 'Yo City" on Prime's Thursday Night Football.
"Beast Mode" made his Thursday Night Football debut in Week 6 of the 2022 NFL season. The first season of "N 'Yo City" brought the former Bills, Raiders and Seahawks running back to locales including Buffalo, New York, Las Vegas, Chicago and New Orleans.
Now Lynch is apparently headed to small-town Pennsylvania.
Since retiring for the final time in 2019, Lynch has made several other appearances on the big screen, including in an episode of "Murderville" and "The Great American Baking Show" as well as the 2023 movie "Bottoms."
Marshawn Lynch Names Top 5 NFL RBs Including Saquon Barkley, Derrick Henry, More

Three years removed from his last NFL game, Marshawn Lynch can't help but be blown away by the amount of talent the league has at the running back position.
Lynch, 36, was a twelve-year NFL veteran who spent the majority of his career with the Seattle Seahawks after being drafted by the Bills with the 12th-overall pick in the 2007 draft. He also spent time with the Oakland Raiders.
While on an episode of the I AM ATHLETE podcast released Monday, Lynch along with former Tennessee Titans running back LenDale White listed their top five running backs in the league right now.
The moment came at the one hour, 10 minute mark of the episode as Lynch listed Saquon Barkley, Derrick Henry, Josh Jacobs, Nick Chubb and Najee Harris as his best in the league.
He also gave a shoutout to Christian McCaffrey, Kenneth Walker and Tony Pollard, all of whom had extremely impressive campaigns.
With the exclusion of Harris, all of Lynch's five finished in the top five in rushing yards in 2022 with Jacobs leading the way with 1,653. He was followed by Henry (1,538), Chubb (1,525) and Barkley (1,312), respectively.
During his career Lynch was a Super Bowl champion, a two-time All-Pro, five-time Pro Bowler, two-time rushing touchdown leader and a member of the NFL's 2010s All-Decade team.
Marshawn Lynch Talks Playing with Russell Wilson amid Criticism of Broncos QB

Marshawn Lynch and Russell Wilson were teammates on the Seattle Seahawks from 2012 through 2015 and briefly again in 2019. The running back spoke about their time together during a recent appearance on the I Am Athlete podcast.
Lynch talked about Wilson with Brandon Marshall, Adam "Pacman" Jones and LenDale White (59-minute mark) with the criticism the quarterback faced during his first season on the Denver Broncos serving as the backdrop.
Yet he had largely positive things to say about the quarterback even if they are two different people off the field and not best friends.
"At the end of the day, I can respect that as a football player," Lynch said when discussing the sacrifices Wilson made and his work ethic both on and off the field.
Lynch also said he would definitely take Wilson on his team, while White suggested Denver's decision to fire former head coach Nathaniel Hackett and hire Sean Payton will help the nine-time Pro Bowler get back on track and rediscover the form he showed in Seattle.
Wilson and Lynch helped the Seahawks reach back-to-back Super Bowls during the 2013 and 2014 campaigns. They won the first and lost the second in stunning fashion when Wilson threw a late interception at the goal line instead of handing it off to Lynch.
Lynch said he initially thought about confronting Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll for the play call. But he explained that he felt more respected in the long run because of how many people have told him Seattle should have just handed him the ball in that situation.
As for Wilson, he was widely considered one of the best quarterbacks in the league during his time on the Seahawks.
Expectations were sky-high when he arrived in Denver ahead of the 2022 campaign, but he completed a career-worst 60.5 percent of his passes for just 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Hackett didn't even make it through the entire season before he was fired, and the Broncos finished in last place in the AFC West at 5-12.
Payton had one of the most successful coach-quarterback pairings in recent history with Drew Brees, so perhaps he will help Wilson return to the dominance he once showed.
If Lynch's comments are any indication, the quarterback will put in the necessary work before the 2023 campaign.
Marshawn Lynch: I Wanted to Confront Pete Carroll After Infamous Super Bowl Play Call
Feb 20, 2023

Former Seattle Seahawks star Marshawn Lynch wasn't happy with head coach Pete Carroll's play-calling toward the end of the team's Super Bowl XLIX defeat to the New England Patriots.
During the most recent episode of the I Am Athlete podcast, Lynch said his first impulse was to get in Carroll's face about going with a pass play from the 1-yard line.
Few plays in recent memory have been as thoroughly dissected and relitigated than Malcolm Butler's game-clinching interception.
It was a seemingly straightforward situation. That close to the goal line, you give the ball to the running back who just made his fourth straight Pro Bowl and had already run for 102 yards. Instead, Carroll might have gotten a little too clever and suffered the consequences.
The decision took on added significance given what came later. A budding dynasty in the Pacific Northwest was effectively over after the Super Bowl ended. Key players moved on, and even quarterback Russell Wilson eventually wore out his welcome.
Perhaps the Seahawks' future would have played out the same way had they beaten the Patriots. But they would have had at least two Super Bowl titles rather than one from that era.
Reflecting on the play in a 2022 interview with comedian Kevin Hart, Lynch said he couldn't help but laugh when he walked by Carroll on the sideline at the Super Bowl.
The five-time Pro Bowler said on the I Am Athlete podcast that the situation did allow him to see the level of respect he commanded in and out of the Seattle locker room, though. He couldn't help but be flattered to hear others say how much he should've gotten the ball.
Marshawn Lynch Joins Amazon's TNF Coverage Ahead of Bears vs. Commanders

Marshawn Lynch famously said he was only talking to the media to avoid a fine when he was a player, but he will be part of the media for Thursday's game between the Chicago Bears and Washington Commanders.
Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk noted Amazon vice president of global sports video Marie Donoghue said on the Marchand & Ourand Sports Media Podcast that Lynch will be part of Amazon's presentation.
The former NFL running back will be involved in short features for the broadcast.
Florio pointed out that discussion of Lynch's role with Amazon "subsided" following his August arrest for DUI, but that has apparently changed.
"I think Marshawn wanted to work through some things," Donoghue told sports media reporters Andrew Marchand and John Ourand. "We were already working with him. We never walked away. We just worked through some things with him and we’re excited. We can’t wait for him to join."
Lynch is no stranger to media appearances, from cameos on television shows and more, and he became a fan favorite during his playing career for his personality and sense of humor.
Still, he remains best known for his career as a five-time Pro Bowler at running back who helped the Seattle Seahawks win the Super Bowl during the 2013 campaign.
Seattle may have won back-to-back Lombardi Trophies if he had the opportunity to run the ball near the goal line at the end of the team's loss to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLIX.
