NFL Rumors: Tyreek Hill Signs $90M Dolphins Contract; Most Guaranteed Money for WR

First, the Miami Dolphins took care of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and wide receiver Jaylen Waddle with contract extensions ahead of the 2024 campaign.

Now, they took care of wide receiver Tyreek Hill.

Miami and Hill agreed to a restructured contract worth $90 million over the next three seasons, with $65 million guaranteed, according to Adam Schefter and Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.

The agreement gives Hill $106.5 million over four years, the most guaranteed money for a wide receiver in NFL history. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network further broke down Hill's new deal:

Hill had teased the extension earlier in the day on Saturday, posting a cryptic message to his X account:

The idea of Hill receiving a new contract gained traction after the Dolphins came to terms on the extension with Waddle. Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reported on May 30—the same day Waddle agreed to his deal—that "the effort to address Hill's contract began after the 2023 season ended."

His previous contract was also set to pay him $19.7 million in base salary in 2024, $21.8 million in base salary in 2025 and $43.9 million in base salary in 2026.

Changing those numbers with a new deal made sense for both sides. On one hand, he was underpaid relative to some of his peers in the first two years of that span. On the other hand, the Dolphins surely weren't looking to dish out that much in one year in 2026.

Then the wide receiver market reset when the Minnesota Vikings agreed to make Justin Jefferson the highest-paid non-quarterback in the league with a four-year, $140 million extension in June.

That put Hill's situation even further into the spotlight, and he discussed his contract following the Jefferson development while notably saying "being greedy ain't gonna help the team."

He also said retiring with the Dolphins was an even bigger priority than making the most amount of money:

It wasn't the first time Hill said he wanted to retire with the Dolphins. He also said as much during an appearance on the Around the Bar podcast in May (h/t Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk).

"Obviously, I would like to retire in Miami, but we all know how the NFL is, how jobs go, and people getting promotions over here and we understand that," he said. "But Miami is a great city. I love the team I play on, love the guys in the locker room, love the head coach, love the GM. So that means sign me. I love all you guys so much, I want to stay in Miami forever, man. Keep me there."

This contract moves him one step closer to remaining in Miami for the rest of his career, which would be welcome news for the Dolphins if he continues to produce at a high level.

Hill set a career-high with 1,710 receiving yards in his first season with the AFC East team in 2022 and then improved on that in 2023 with 119 catches for 1,799 yards and 13 touchdowns. He led the NFL in receiving yards and touchdown catches during that 2023 campaign.

The speedster has a Super Bowl title (with the Kansas City Chiefs), eight Pro Bowl nods and five First-Team All-Pro selections on his resume at 30 years old.

Now he will have the opportunity to continue adding to that list of accomplishments with the Dolphins following this new deal.

Tyreek Hill Says 'I'm Here to Stay' After Rumored Record $90M Dolphins Contract

Tyreek Hill is sending a message.

The Miami Dolphins wide receiver posted on X on Saturday saying he's "here to stay" just before ESPN's Adam Schefter and Marcel Louis-Jacques reported Hill and the Dolphins had agreed to terms on a restructured contract worth $90 million and $65 million guaranteed over the next three seasons.

Schefter added that Hill's deal now includes a four-year total of $106.5 million guaranteed, which is the most for any receiver in NFL history.

Hill followed up with a tweet that read, "I promise to give you my all this year." The messages came one day after the eight-time Pro Bowler earned the No. 1 ranking in the NFL's Top 100 Players survey.

Hill was technically under contract through the 2026 season but had an out since he wasn't owed any guaranteed money beyond 2024.

His production with the Dolphins made an extension a no-brainer. He has 238 catches for 3,509 yards and 20 touchdowns in two seasons with the team. That includes a 2023 season that saw him finish second in the Offensive Player of the Year award voting and earn a second straight first-team All-Pro selection.

Hill and the Dolphins have high expectations in 2024 as they look to reach the divisional round of the playoffs after back-to-back losses in the wild-card round.

For the first time since 2019, the NFL Network's top player is not a quarterback.

NFL Network concluded its list of the league's top 100 players on Friday, giving Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill the nod as the No. 1 player over previous winners like Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (No. 4) and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson (No. 2).

Hill was quick to react to the honor:

Here's the full list of players who make up the final group of top players, according to NFL Network.

NFL Network Top 100 Rankings (No. 1-10)

10. Maxx Crosby, DE, Las Vegas Raiders

9. Travis Kelce, TE, Kansas City Chiefs

8. TJ Watt, LB, Pittsburgh Steelers

7. Trent Williams, OT, San Francisco 49ers

6. Chris Jones, DT, Kansas City Chiefs

5. Myles Garrett, DE, Cleveland Browns

4. Patrick Mahomes, QB, Kansas City Chiefs

3. Christian McCaffrey, RB, San Francisco 49ers

2. Lamar Jackson, QB, Baltimore Ravens

1. Tyreek Hill, WR, Miami Dolphins

San Francisco 49ers offensive tackle Trent Williams earned the highest ranking ever for an offensive lineman, though he already held the title as the highest-ranked offensive lineman before this year's list. That doesn't come as much of a surprise considering how well Williams protected quarterback Brock Purdy last season on the way to a Super Bowl appearance for the 49ers.

The top 10 was friendly to the Kansas City Chiefs with star tight end Travis Kelce, defensive tackle Chris Jones and Mahomes all finding their way onto the list. It's only fitting that several players from Kansas City made the top 10 after yet another Super Bowl win last year.

Though Mahomes once again found himself in the top five, it's a bit surprising he wasn't given the nod as the top player after leading the Chiefs to a Super Bowl. The well-accomplished quarterback will be looking to use the snub as motivation this season.

Lamar Jackson is coming off an MVP season that saw him collect 3,678 passing yards and 24 touchdowns along with 821 rushing yards and five touchdowns on the ground. Like Mahomes, there's a strong case to be made for Jackson at No. 1.

Hill's position at No. 1 comes after the wide receiver picked up a league-best 1,799 receiving yards and 13 receiving touchdowns, tied for the most in the NFL last year. He also had 119 receptions, which was second only to Dallas Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb.

Hill also made history on Friday, becoming the first wide receiver to land at No. 1 in the history of NFL Network's top 100 list, which began in 2015.

Dolphins' Tyreek Hill: Tua Tagovailoa Signing New Contract Was 'Best Feeling Ever'

Miami Dolphins star receiver Tyreek Hill was happy for Tua Tagovailoa following the quarterback's record-breaking contract extension.

"Hearing his story about the different coaches that he went through and just everything that he had to hear and stuff like that, it builds up to just now of seeing him sign that big deal," Hill said during an interview with SiriusXM NFL Radio (h/t Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk). "Like, it was amazing. It was the best feeling ever."

Tagovailoa signed a four-year extension worth $212.4 million with the Dolphins on July 26, representing the largest contract in franchise history. The deal also included $167 million guaranteed.

The average annual value of $53.1 million on his new contract represents the fourth-highest mark in the NFL, via Spotrac.

Tagovailoa is coming off the first Pro Bowl nod of his career, helping Miami earn its second consecutive playoff appearance by finishing with a record of 11-6. Although the Dolphins were ultimately defeated in the wild card round by the Kansas City Chiefs, the eventual Super Bowl champions, the signal-caller still wrapped up a tremendous 2023 campaign.

He completed 69.3 percent of his passes for a league-leading 4,624 yards, recording 29 touchdowns compared to 14 interceptions to go along with a 101.1 passer rating.

As for Hill, he's also a candidate to receive a new contract. Although he's signed through the 2026 season, he won't be owed any guaranteed money beyond the 2024 season and the Dolphins will likely want to adjust his deal before his $56.3 million cap hit in 2026.

Hill told reporters on Thursday that contract negotiations with Miami have been "positive," although it isn't something that he's concerned about as he enters his ninth season in the league (per Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald).

The 30-year-old is also coming off a strong year, racking up 1,799 receiving yards and 13 touchdown catches in 2023.

With Tagovailoa's new contract and Hill's ongoing discussions regarding a deal, the pair will attempt to lead the Dolphins to three straight playoff appearances for the first time since 2001.

Tyreek Hill Has Had 'Positive' Contract Talks with Dolphins Ahead of 2024 NFL Season

Tyreek Hill doesn't appear to be worried about his discussions with the Miami Dolphins regarding a new contract ahead of the 2024 season.

According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, Hill said that contract talks with the Dolphins have been "positive" and he isn't concerned about it.

The 30-year-old previously revealed to reporters on July 23 that he didn't know if he'll receive a new deal, although he told his representatives that he doesn't want to be traded if an agreement isn't reached.

Hill is under contract through the 2026 season due to a four-year, $120 million extension that he signed with the team in 2022. However, the guaranteed money in his contract will be fully paid by the end of the 2024 season and the Dolphins likely want to reach a new deal before his $56.3 million cap hit occurs during the final year of the extension (via Spotrac).

Several of the league's top receivers were given new contracts during the 2024 offseason such as the Minnesota Vikings' Justin Jefferson, D.J. Moore of the Chicago Bears, and the Detroit Lions' Amon-Ra St. Brown. Jaylen Waddle, Hill's Miami teammate, also received a three-year pact worth $84.75 million in May.

However, the eight-time Pro Bowl wideout doesn't seem to be overly focused on his contract status.

"But for right now, I'm gonna keep practicing every day and trying to help this team win games," Hill told reporters on Thursday when discussing a new deal.

He was dominant throughout his 2023 campaign, leading all wideouts with 1,799 yards. He also racked up at least 110 receptions for the third straight year to go along with 13 touchdown catches. He's thrived since he joined the Dolphins in a 2022 trade from the Kansas City Chiefs, helping them earn consecutive playoff appearances.

With Waddle and Tua Tagovailoa both receiving extensions during the offseason, Hill's new contract could be next for Miami's front office.

Tyreek Hill Says Fight at Dolphins Training Camp 'Was Amazing. We Need That'

A fight broke out during Tuesday's practice at Miami Dolphins training camp, but star receiver Tyreek Hill sees it as a positive.

After running back Jaylen Wright got into it with cornerback Kader Kahou and the rest of the team jumped in, Hill told reporters he believes it was the type of fire the Dolphins will need if they hope to be successful this year.

"I think the fight we had today was amazing. We need that. Teams that I've been on that won, those teams fought," Hill said, per Kaushik Sampath of the Miami Herald (h/t Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk). "They aren't going to fight in the locker room. This is where you fight. Then right after the play you calm yourself down, in between the whistle you're right back at it with no mental errors."

After practice, star cornerback Jalen Ramsey reportedly gave an impassioned speech about playing with a certain edge, which is something Miami has not been known for in recent years:

The Dolphins were in the driver's seat for the AFC East title for the majority of the 2023 season before they lost to the Buffalo Bills in the regular-season finale. Miami was then bounced out of the playoffs in the AFC Wild Card Round, and the team hasn't won a playoff game since the 2000 campaign.

After a solid offseason in which they plugged multiple holes on their roster, the Dolphins are hoping for a better finish this year. If Hill is correct about the benefits of fighting in practice, the team will be playing with a hunger that's needed if they hope to earn a spot in the Super Bowl.

Video: Dolphins' Tyreek Hill Named to 99 Club in Madden NFL 25 Player Ratings

Tyreek Hill reached the 99 overall pinnacle midway through the Madden 24 cycle, and he's going nowhere to start Madden 25.

The Miami Dolphins receiver was named the first member of the 99 Club on Monday as EA Sports ramps up its promotional efforts for next month's release of the Madden franchise.

Hill, the NFL's most dynamic playmaker at the receiver spot, recorded 119 receptions for an NFL-high 1,799 yards and 13 touchdowns last season. He has recorded more than 100 catches in three straight seasons and has put together consecutive career-best yardage totals since joining the Dolphins in 2022.

Hill is the first player in Dolphins history to ever reach 99 overall. An avid streamer, Hill is known for playing Madden, Fortnite and several other games while interacting with fans.

It remains to be seen how many players will reach 99 mark for Madden 25's release. EA Sports is typically selective in how many players it allows to reach the hallowed number, with only four players hitting 99 for Madden 23 and five players hitting 99 for Madden 24 upon release.

We can reasonably assume Hill's former Kansas City Chiefs teammate Patrick Mahomes will be among the 99 Club members heading into this season. With defensive stalwart Aaron Donald having retired in the offseason, there will be at least one major shoe to fill in the coming days.

San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey, the Madden 25 cover athlete, is also a strong bet to hit 99 overall for the game's release.

Tyreek Hill Says Jaylen Waddle Cheated in Race; WR Picks Dolphins' 4x100 Relay Team

After losing to Jaylen Waddle in a recent race, Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill believes he's still the fastest man on his team and said his teammate cheated.

"You want me to set the record straight? The Cheetah is still the fastest, no matter what," Hill said, per NFL Network's Eric Edholm. "All I'm gonna say is, on that race Jaylen jumped the count. It was a false start."

Hill is one of the fastest players in the NFL and clearly takes pride in it, so losing a race isn't something he will easily accept. Waddle has not yet commented on the matter, but he'd likely argue that he won the race fair and square.

But even after claiming he cheated, Hill showed Waddle some love, including him on the Dolphins' hypothetical 4x100 meter relay team.

"Well, obviously I'm putting (myself) first, man," Hill said. "My start is tremendous. Then I'm gonna go with my guy Raheem Mostert at two, Waddle at the three and (De'Von) Achane at the four. Ethan Bonner, that's my alternate."

That's a pretty fast group of runners, though maybe not quick enough to compete in the Olympics. Perhaps fans will get to see some sort of race between NFL players if the league ever brings back the "fastest man" competition.

With the season approaching, Hill and Waddle will look to show off their speed for the Dolphins on the field as they have for the past few years. Waddle is coming off a year where he recorded 1,014 receiving yards and four touchdowns, while Hill led the league in both receiving yards and touchdowns with 1,799 and 13.

Dolphins' Mike McDaniel: Tua Tagovailoa's Contract a 'Cool Validation' of QB's Career

After the Miami Dolphins and star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa agreed to the largest contract extension in franchise history, head coach Mike McDaniel said he's ready to move on and start preparing for the season, but he didn't hold back his excitement.

"I'm happy but I also expected it to get done and now that it's done it's about moving forward," McDaniel said Sunday before practice, per Tom D'Angelo of the Palm Beach Post. "It's maybe a handshake and a smile but it's not a celebration. I'm fired up for the organization, really fired up for Tua and the work he's done to receive something like that. It's a cool validation of that."

McDaniel added that his reaction to Tagovailoa receiving the extension caught the signal-caller off-guard when they saw each other.

"My hug surprised him," McDaniel said. "You know because he spilled his coffee."

On Friday, Tagovailoa and the Dolphins agreed to a four-year, $212.4 million extension that includes $167 million guaranteed. His average annual salary of $53.1 million makes him the fourth-highest-paid quarterback in the NFL.

While he was waiting for his deal to get done, Tagovailoa participated in Dolphins practice in a limited fashion. He will now get back to preparing to help Miami contend for a spot in the Super Bowl this season. McDaniel said the 26-year-old is ready to answer the expectations that come with his big-money extension.

"It's a pretty hot place to be, quarterback in the National Football League," McDaniel said. "You get a lot of reps to see how people respond to things. That is the nature you should expect and Tua is very aware of that. They already have pressure and expectations for themselves. Tua has shown me throughout the entire offseason he knows what time it is."
