49ers' Deebo Samuel: Trash Talk with James Bradberry, Eagles Is 'All Fun and Games'

After scoring three touchdowns Sunday, San Francisco 49ers receiver Deebo Samuel says he hopes the Philadelphia Eagles didn't take his trash talk "to heart."
The 49ers won 42-19 in a rematch of last year's NFC championship game.
"I was in that zone all week long," Samuels said after Sunday's win. "Talking trash is part of the game. Hopefully nobody took it to heart, because this is all fun and games at the end of the day."
Earlier this week, Samuel doubled down on calling Philadelphia cornerback James Bradberry "trash" following the Niners' 31-7 playoff loss to the Eagles last year.
"I don't regret nothing I said," Samuel said Monday when asked about the Bradberry comment.
The question was referring to Samuel's appearance on the "I Am Athlete" podcast in February. When asked by former Eagles star LeSean McCoy about Bradberry, Samuel called the cornerback "trash."
Samuel referred back to that comment after a defensive holding penalty called on Bradberry with minutes left in a tied Super Bowl contributed to the Kansas City Chiefs' championship victory.
Eagles wide receiver AJ Brown said earlier this week that Samuel was "just having fun" with his comments heading into the game.
"I don't think Deebo means any harm," Brown said (h/t NBC Sports Philadelphia's John Clark.) "That's just him. He's just having fun, and I don't think it's a shot at Bradberry personally. He's just talking. That's just how he talks, all the time. He's a big kid."
Bradberry himself did not seem overly concerned about the exchange.
"Of course, I don't necessarily like what he said," Bradberry said earlier this week, per NBC Sports Philadelphia's Dave Zangaro. "I wish he would have used a better word to describe my play. But it is what it is. At the end of the day, all I can do is control my work ethic and what I do day to day."
Samuel's comments might sting a little more now that he has backed them up with a 49ers victory. The loss slowed the 10-2 Eagles' attempt to pull away in the standings from the 9-3 Dallas Cowboys, who are threatening to overtake Philadelphia's position atop the NFC East.
A.J. Brown Calls on Eagles Fans to Troll 49ers' Deebo Samuel After Bradberry Comments

Visiting players are always going to hear from Philadelphia Eagles fans when they are playing at Lincoln Financial Field, but San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel will likely hear from them before Sunday's game.
Especially after A.J. Brown gave Eagles fans permission to troll his fellow pass-catcher:
Brown's tweet comes after some back-and-forth involving Samuel.
The 49ers receiver went on the I Am Athlete podcast and called Eagles defensive back James Bradberry "trash" following Philadelphia's win over San Francisco in last season's NFC Championship game.
And he didn't walk those comments back ahead of Sunday's rematch:
That Brown encouraged the fans to troll Samuel is notable since the latter told Zion Olojede of Complex in May that Philadelphia was his "most hated team" because "all the trash talk coming from the Eagles fan base and the players, you just get tired of that."
Sunday would be a juicy matchup even without the trash talk, as it is an NFC Championship Game rematch between the top-seeded Eagles and second-seeded 49ers. A head-to-head win will go a long way toward either team securing home-field advantage and an easier path to the Super Bowl.
Combine that with the trash talking, and the game is appointment viewing.
49ers' Deebo Samuel Says He Doesn't Regret Calling Eagles' James Bradberry 'Trash'

Deebo Samuel isn't interested in backtracking.
The San Francisco 49ers' wide receiver called Philadelphia Eagles defensive back James Bradberry "trash" in an appearance on the I Am Athlete podcast after Philadelphia defeated San Francisco in last season's NFC Championship game.
When asked by reporters on Monday if he regrets those comments after several months, the 27-year-old's answer was blunt.
"I don't regret nothing I said," Samuel responded, per NBC Sports Bay Area.
The Pro Bowl receiver isn't shy about his feelings regarding the team that eliminated him last year. He revealed to Zion Olojede of Complex that his "most hated team is the Eagles right now" in an interview back in May.
"All the trash talk coming from the Eagles fan base and the players, you just get tired of that," he later added.
When Bradberry committed a costly penalty during the Eagles' Super Bowl loss, Samuel doubled down on his comments in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Although Philadelphia cruised to a 31-7 win over San Francisco to earn its Super Bowl appearance last season, the 49ers were extremely shorthanded during the game. Starting quarterback Brock Purdy suffered a torn UCL early in the contest before backup Josh Johnson was later ruled out with a concussion.
Purdy was forced to go back into the game but was unable to throw due to his injury, making the 49ers' offense extremely predictable and one-dimensional. Samuel recorded just 33 yards on six targets while losing nine yards on six carries.
This season, he's racked up 474 receiving yards and 138 rush yards while scoring four total touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Bradberry has accumulated just one interception in 10 starts. According to Pro Football Focus, he's allowed 37 receptions on 69 targets while earning a career-low 60.4 grade in 2023.
The 49ers and Eagles are set for a rematch on Sunday in Philadelphia. Kickoff is at 4:25 p.m. ET.
